Welcome to my "Open Window"...a place of hope, encouragement, and adventure as we journey down the road from "Closed Doors" to the new opportunities God places in our pathway. I hope you will take the time to go back and follow the trail of mixed blessings and fears, failures and triumphs from the past and side-trips in the present. Perhaps it will conjure up some of your own special memories, and be an invitation for you to share with others. I look forward to spending this time with you!
What Do You See Outside YOUR Open Window Today?

Grand Opening Day
But it was a happy kind of exhaustion, and they are so thankful for all the show of support and enthusiasm for the new store. Oh, I forgot to mention that yesterday afternoon our Pastor and his wife came by the store to pray with us and ask for God's blessings upon the new store. That was very very special. And then today even the Mayor of the City of Interlachen stopped in to congratulate them. Again, I wish I had taken some pictures! Hindsight is always 20/20.
And so that is the story of the Grand Opening Day at Dixie Cottage! It was a great new beginning, and we look forward to many wonderful days ahead. And if you are ever in the area, please be sure to stop in and visit! (But be sure to let me know first so I will be there to meet you!)

Tuesday 4: My Life Story!
Your Life
Welcome... This is Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4 and boy are we glad to see you!
In keeping with our theme of looking at the past, maybe we can talk about your past life and what it might have been like?
1. What was life like for you as a child of elementary school age? Friends, games, TV, music, food, interests? Tell us about it won't you?
Oh my! Elementary school was a wonderful time! We moved to the little town of Tavares, Florida, in December of first grade. We had originally moved to Brooksville, Florida from our farm in Pennsylvania, the summer before I started school. It was a very BIG change for our family of six to move from the freedom and beauty of our lovely big farmlands to a very small two bedroom apartment, where we would live until my Dad could build us a new home in that community. However, the job he had moved there to do wasn't working out very well, and so after six months we made the move to Tavares to a rented house until he could build us a new house there on a lot that some friends who also used to live in PA. sold him. It was a lovely wooded lot way out in the country, and we were all quite thrilled. But it would be about a year before the house was built and we could finally be settled into the home where I grew up and where my parents lived until they moved to their heavenly home.
2. Moving along to the teen years would you mind sharing some of the same things with us? What were you interested in? What did you watch on TV or listen to on the radio? Tell us all about you as a teenager.
3. Would you share your college or young working years with us? Did your interests change or grow in your late teens or early 20s? Did your friends come or go? Did you live at school or home or have a place of your own? So many questions only you can answer.
4. And lately... what are the topics occupying your mind right now? How have things changed in your life in the not to distant past. Are you okay with the changes?
Thanks for dropping by.. come again, won't you?

More Unexpected Blessings
I am writing this on Wednesday evening, but it is intended to be posted for Thursday...we shall see...I may go ahead and post it tonight. Let's see what develops as I write...
Today (Wednesday, January 20, 2021), was another of those kind of days. This morning as we watched our President and the First Lady bid farewell and walk up those steps into Air Force One for the last time, it was a rather emotional moment for us, and I expect for many of you as well. If not, well, then, just please just try to appreciate and respect the rest of this story because it was special for me.
As I stood there watching them depart on Air Force One, it was a bit overwhelming in many respects. And I was at the point where I couldn't bear to watch another minute of the news broadcast as things were shifting from one story to another. Right at that very moment my husband called my attention to the window to look out into the back yard at this sight:
