Tuesday 4~Things About You

 Things About You

Hi dear friends and welcome to Tuesday 4.. Toni Taddeo's invention and our pleasure to continue in her memory.

This week you are the topic.

1. What is something you are proud of that we don't know about?
I will have to think about this. I think you know just about everything there is to know about me, including what I ate for breakfast yesterday! LOL.  I'm not sure "proud" is the right word...how about thankful?  I am thankful that I have been married to my wonderful husband for going on 57 years, and that we were blessed with three amazing sons. I am thankful that our sons have turned out to be wonderful adults.  One of our sons is already in heaven, but I am thankful that I know that is where he is and that we will see him again someday.  I am thankful that he left us with one amazing grandson, and that our grandson called us recently to tell us about his current job and the things he's been doing.  He's 26 and lives in Maine, so we don't see him very often, and so it's always a blessing when he calls us.  I am also thankful that I have two wonderful daughter in laws. The one who was married to our son who passed away took such good care of him when he was dealing with cancer, plus she held down a very good job and raised their son to be a fine young man. She also trained to become a firefighter during that time and continues to volunteer in their local fire department. She is a hard worker and a wonderful person. We just don't see her often either because they live in Maine.  My other sweet daughter in law Rose is right here close by, and you all hear about her quite often. She is such a blessing to us, and I am so thankful God brought her into our son's life and ours at this time in our lives. She is also a hard worker and someone who is always looking for ways to help others.  So, yes, I am proud of my family, but mostly I am thankful to God for them.

2. What subject or things are over rated or talked about too much in your opinion.?
Politics for sure.  We have gotten to where we don't even want to listen to the news anymore. But we pray for our country and it's leaders every day.

3. What things and topics should be talked about more often or are under rated in your opinion?
Our faith in God is something that we should be free to share anytime, anyplace.  Not "religion", but faith, and what God has done for us through His Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. I am thankful for this blog forum where we can share our own personal beliefs freely. It is my hope and prayer that sharing my faith will be an encouragement to others and not something they wish I'd just be quiet about.

4. Are there any things you've changed your mind about in the last few years?
Cats.  I never had much interest in cats or having a cat in the past. If you had asked me if I were a cat or a dog person, I would've said dog, even though we didn't have one. We love our two grandpups and enjoy it when they come to visit.  But then God arranged for me to take over the feeding of two neighborhood kitties that our neighbor was feeding until she became too incapacitated to do so any longer (and is now in a nursing home most likely permanently).   You've all seen the stories about Blackie and Sunshine...and how much it grieved me when Sunshine suddenly passed away.  Now Blackie has captured our hearts and right now is sitting in my hubby's lap, which I never dreamed I would see happen a few months ago!

I believe it's one of those things that God arranged for a reason...He knows what we need deep inside...and sometimes having a small furry animal depend upon us for care and love is a good thing...and to see how he responds with love back to us is even better.

So that's the Tuesday 4 for today. You can join in HERE if you wish.

One more thing, those fires I was telling you about in our town are still going on. Here is a picture of the smoke in the skies last night:
NO, that is NOT a sunset! That is the smoke in the west at the time of when we should be having a sunset.  At that point we could not smell it here at our house, but when darkness came the smoke surrounded us and became quite noticeable. When I stepped outside for just a minute to bring Blackie back inside for the night (he was sleeping in his chair on the porch and I had to wake him up because freezing temps were on the way. And yes, he spent most of the day outside because it was a bit warmer and that is where he wanted to be), immediately my hair and clothes smelled like smoke and I had to change clothes. I would've washed my hair too, but I had just taken my shower and didn't want to start over.  It is still smokey out there this morning, which means the firefighters are still at it. This is the 4th day.  May God protect them and give them reprieve from the fire soon.

Here's some thoughts and prayer for the day from Psalm 25...

Psalm 25:1-5

"1  To You, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
2 O my God, I trust in You;
Let me not be ashamed;
Let not my enemies triumph over me.
3 Indeed, let no one who waits on You be ashamed;
Let those be ashamed who deal treacherously without cause.

4 Show me Your ways, O Lord;
Teach me Your paths.
5 Lead me in Your truth and teach me,
For You are the God of my salvation;
On You I wait all the day."

Amen.

  1. That last photo is beautiful but I'm sorry for the reason behind it.
    I love your thoughts on having a cat and also seeing Blackie on Johns lap. They really can be such sweet companions.

  2. I'm glad the ministry of Blackie is warming hearts and laps! We drove home from church through many bands of smoke--people just don't realize the dangers of burning brush piles this time of year!

  3. Question 4 was perfect for you and Blackie is indeed a blessing. That's a sweet photo of Blackie on John's lap. Having fur babies are therapeutic as we get older. We still love and we still want to care take a little life. It wasn't by accident that Blackie entered your life and home. So sweet and it makes my heart SING.
    That's too bad about the fires. I get a sick pit in my stomach when I think of what is always ahead for us.I hope there are no homes or businesses in that fire, although it hurts my heart when trees burn as well. It looks awfully close to you guys - but I'm sure you are monitoring it.
    Enjoyed your post, Pamela. I hope you, John and Blackie have a wonderful day!

  4. The smoke from those wildfires may make for a beautiful photo, but the rest of it? So sorry the smell is reaching you where you live, Pamela. And yes, may our conversations focus on faith, not politics. Blessings!

  6. I saw a newsclip about the fires in your area, I'm so glad to hear you're not in harms way, although I am sad for those who are. I ask God to put out the fire, even so, His will be done. I completely agree with you on #2 & 3. It's not about religion, it's not a cult, it's about being a child of God.

  7. I love all of your answers to the Tuesday 4.
    You are a wonderful example of what True Faith is.
    Your testimony of Faith and the love you have for the Lord, your family and all of us in Blogland is so encouraging to me.
    Give your kitty a little hug for me. Love the way he has wormed his way into your hearts.

  8. I love how much you love your family...and you are indeed blessed with a wonderful one. It's obvious that they love the two of you just as much. I also love how you are so comfortable sharing your faith with us. We need to pass on the love of Jesus every chance we get before that chance is removed from us. It is so obvious that Blackie does love the two of you. He is very comfortable inside taking care of you.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  9. Great answers. #2 and #3 absolutely! I agree.
    I'm still not a fan of cats but wish them no harm. Just don't want any ever again for various reasons. Blackie is so fortunate to found y'all.
    The sky has been lovely lately. I've noticed that too. I sure wish it would rain though. We need it desperately.
    Blessings. ❤️

  10. I'm sorry you're having to deal with the effects of that large fire in your area. Smelling smoke is most unpleasant. There was a fire southwest of us yesterday, in Dunnellon, in a very large collection of old railroad ties. Thankfully, we did not know about it until the evening TV news, but apparently the creosote in the ties can be very harmful, cancer-causing. This winter is proving to be a challenge to everybody, it seems, in a number of ways.

  11. Our state is a fire waiting to happen and I keep praying for rain and protection from fire.
    My heart just sings with joy when you talk about Blackie and seeing him in John, I don't like or want cats, with The Cat in his lap... Just love it. I do believe that God put Blackie in your lives and I know Beau was sent to me as therapy because God knew what was coming. we have had 6 dogs since 1985, and none of the first 4 were my dogs, they all loved Bob, he was their MAN... in 2018 Big boy came into our lives, and God gave him to us for Big's sake, and also to make me fall in love with Big older dogs, to care for him for the 2 years he had left, we did not know he had a bad heart until suddenly it hit him. He prepared me for Beau because he was My dog from the start and I had to walk him and care for him, because I said when I saw him he is to Big. that is how he got his name.
    turned out he was not the biggest because when he died, 2 days later the biggest dog I even had came into my life and here we are. the worlds sweetest therapy dog.
    You are blessed with your wonderful family and they are blessed to have you too

  12. Well, I am smiling, ear-to-ear, with your #4!! I love dogs, too, but there is just something about cats!! I appreciate you changing "proud" to "thankful"! I could have answered it better using thankful!! Hope the fire is extinguised soon and sorry you are dealing with smoke all around you! xo

  13. Everyone had the most wonderful answers this week and you are no exception. We are all sick of politics and we are all wanting more faith in our lives! I am so happy that Blackie is bringing love into your lives and I hope he has a long happy life with you. Praying for the fires. If it ain't one thing, it's another but we keep on keeping on God willing. Hugs

  14. I Pamela, I enjoyed my visit today. I think it is so sweet how Blackie has grown to trust you. You are a good cat mom and think your husband is too. We are dog lovers ourselves. Pets touch our hearts so deeply and we can thank God for that!

  15. Oh, I love the way in which you express your thankfulness for family. Our Father has blessed you and John abundantly. And here, just when you think things can't get any better, along comes Blackie. This image of him on his 'daddy's' lap made me grin out loud!
    Okay, I've just made my way to Blogland ... see you soon over at the Hodgepodge!

  16. How wonderful that your grandson calls you. We don't listen to much news either. Yes, I have faith in God but I don't talk about it much. I do talk to Him. I'm glad you took Blackie in. We are allergic to cats. Had one once. So sorry about the fires. Wow, you smelled like fire! So sorry about that. Thank you for the prayer.

  17. As a new reader, it was nice to get a little insight into your world, and all the things that are important to you. It is wonderful that you have been able to maintain a relationship with your grandson, despite your son having gone too soon, and his wife and child being so far away. I always think I understand the vastness of the USA and then I start looking into something and the perspective shifts yet again! Well done for taking on the catsitting. Cats make me sneeze, but after a couple of days, I have noticed I can acclimatise. Yes to the freedom to be able to express ourselves, including on faith, without judgement, and I do hope those fires are brought under control very soon. Be safe!

  18. I enjoyed learning more about you and your family. I love that your family is close... even if not close in distance. That is so very important.
    Most of our family is in Wisconsin, but we have some in Texas.
