I posted this picture on my Facebook page today saying, "Somebody please come and save me! I'm starving in here!"
I probably should have added, "Help! I'm burning up in here! It's 101degrees in the shade!"
"Somebody please have mercy!!"
"Help! I'm sinking fast..."
The mother sat outside for the longest time (in the bright early morning sunshine, that's why she looks so pale, if that makes sense)
Holding this big juicy bug in her beak, listening to the pleas of her children, and yet she refused to go to the door and feed them...
Actually, I think it was because I was sitting on the porch watching, and she would not go near that birdhouse as long as I was out there, even though I was perfectly still and quiet...
So finally I got the hint and went back inside so her poor babies could be fed.
Daddy Bluebird was soon there with more juicy bugs for breakfast:
But I think he's telling them it's almost time for them to start learning how to hunt for their own food!
Anyway, judging by the activities around the birdhouse today, I have a feeling it won't be long before the "babies" will fly away and say farewell to us. Then I wonder when we will see Mr. and Mrs. Bluebird again? This was their third brood for the year, (counting the first one that was sadly destroyed by a predator). It's been very entertaining watching this story unfold all spring and summer.
Life is never dull here on Still Waters Pond.
This morning I was walking along the shore of the pond and discovered this cluster of some type of wild flower blooming.
And here are more buds awaiting! I don't know what they are, but it's always fun to discover God's handiwork here in His garden.
On a different note, we've been really enjoying the fresh peaches that we get each week from the local farmer's market at our little flea market. This was my breakfast one morning:
Fresh sliced peaches on Cheerios! Yummy!
And you know what they say, "Life is just a bowl of cherries"
Another of my favorite fruits this time of year! Fresh Bing cherries from Washington State!
What are some of your favorite summer fruits or treats?
You may recall when I showed you pictures of the blossoms on the wild plum trees earlier this year
HERE
Well, even though the trees were loaded with blossoms in the spring, they did not yield very many wild plums this year. I am not sure if they have an off year every other year or what, because last year they were loaded with wild plums, and this year I was hard pressed to find only a few:
They are a little smaller than the Bing cherries above, and definitely not as sweet. I just leave them for the birds and critters to eat. It's wonderful how God provides for His creatures. And for His beloved children as well! We were just reading this morning in the book of Exodus chapter 16 about how God provided Manna in the desert for the Israelites...even when they complained against God...He still took care of them because He loved them so much...that's something to ponder.
Well, I really don't have any other great news or excitement to share. I do want to thank you for your prayers for my neck pain. I have felt much better these last few days, and I pray that it will continue to be that way. I am trying to keep up with the little exercises the PT has given me to do, and also I find that I need to keep moving as much as possible. Sitting too long in any one position is very bad for me, which reminds me, I need to get up now and move around.
Also, I would like to ask once again for your continued prayers for our blogging friend Mildred, over at Laurel Wood. She is going through some very serious health issues right now and I know she would appreciate your prayers. Thank you so much.
James 5:16 tells us:
"Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man (or woman!) avails much."
Have a blessed rest of your week, friends.
"The Lord is my strength and song,
And He has become my salvation;
He is my God, and I will praise Him;
My father’s God, and I will exalt Him."
Exodus 15:2
Loved your photos and the story line here today, Pamela. It will be sad when the bluebirds have all "flown the coop," as they say, but that's the way of God's plan. Yes, I will keep Mildred in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Thank you, Martha. Yes it will be sad to see them go, but I am hoping they will find their way back again next spring. We'll keep a light on for them. LOL. Thank you so much for your prayers for me and especially for Mildred. She is truly in much need of them and I know she appreciates them so much. God bless you. Been thinking about you too.
DeleteThank you, Martha, for your prayers. Mildred
DeleteOh, bless that baby's hungry heart! My first instinct would be to hunt for something to give him(her?) myself ... but of course, that's interferring with nature's Big Plan. You've certainly opened my eyes to the sweet bluebirds.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure happy to hear your neck's feeling some better! Prayers continuing -- both for you and Mildred!
Thank you, Myra. Yes, I have found that the bluebirds are very self-sufficient. They don't need my birdseed or feeders. They know right where to go to catch a big juicy grasshopper or bug and they keep those hungry little mouths full. They are very good parents, and they know when to draw them out of the nest so they can learn to take care of themselves. I think we humans could learn some lessons from them. Thank you for your prayers for me and especially for Mildred. She is in much need of our prayers and I know she appreciates it very much. Thank you.
DeleteThank you, Myra, for your prayers. Mildred
DeleteWonderful photos. God does supply all our needs and sometimes our wants, according to His will. He's so gracious, merciful and generous with His bounty.
ReplyDeleteBlessings. xx
Yes, He is!! We are most blessed to have such a merciful and generous heavenly Father. Even when we don't deserve it...He still takes care of His children. So very thankful indeed.
DeleteI so love to see the pictures of the wildlife and plants at your home. Those bluebirds are so cute!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cathy. It's been so hot lately that I haven't been getting out as much as I'd like. So I am glad the bluebirds are right outside our window so we can watch them from inside where it is cool. I love having a front row seat! God is good.
DeleteThose photos are precious and I love the story your told. Mama was definitely waiting for you to go inside.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Debby. Yes, the parents are very careful not to let anyone know where they are going with that food, as if we can't see where. If there is a squirrel or other birds around they will do the same thing. I guess it is just a part of their protective nature. God certainly created them to know exactly what to do and when! So amazing!
DeletePam: I love your pictures. We like Bing Cherries from Michigan but we can't be too choosy where the grocery store gets them. I wrote one time on my blog that the summer season for me was divided into smaller seasons based on what was plentiful in the way of fruits and vegetables. Right now, I know it is sweet corn 'season' here in Indiana.
ReplyDeleteOh, did you use the corn cob holders that you bought? I hope they worked for you! I know what you mean about what we can get during the summer months. Actually, it's kind of like that year round. We eat whatever is in season that we can get reasonably! Enjoy your summer. I am hungering for fall myself!
DeletePeaches and cherries - 'tis the season!
ReplyDeleteYou have been in my prayers regarding the neck and shoulder pain. I especially think of you as I wake in the morning and need to get up and move around to relieve the stiffness. Sometimes I wonder if maybe I didn't move at all during the night?!!!
The little birdie family has proved to be very educational and entertaining. You have an excellent view of them!
Yes, mornings are the stiffest! I have to get up and stretch and move around as much as possible to get things working in the right direction! However, I know that I move during the night...several trips to the you know where keep me moving. LOL. And yes, the birdie family has been fun. I expect this will be the end of their season. Not sure what happens next, but I do hope they will be back again in the spring if that is their plan. We'll keep a light on for them. LOL. See you soon!!!
DeletePrayers continue for you and for your friend, Mildred. I love those great photos you got of the baby birds and the good care they receive from their mom & dad. It is really wonderful to be able to see that so up close and personal! I sure am looking forward to seeing YOU next weekend!! Hooray!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Terri! Yes, the baby birds have been a lot of fun. I'm still waiting for them to emerge from the nest, any day now. Thank you for your prayers for Mildred. She is in great need of them and I know she appreciates it. Yes, seeing you and Barb next week is going to be a wonderful blessing! I can't wait.
DeleteTerri, thank you for your prayers. Mildred
DeleteI love how you've observed the activities of the birds that come to have their babies and feed them until they are ready to fly off on their own. It's amazing that they've gone through the cycle 3x in one year. I'm glad to hear your neck is doing better. The PT exercises I think are key.Keep up the great work.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Penny. It's such fun to watch the birds in their little life cycles. It is just another example of God's perfection in every detail of life...even the birds! They are such good parents and protectors for their young. It is amazing to watch them. Thank you for your kind words. Have a blessed evening.
DeletePam, I continue to pray for you and your neck problems, I appreciate your prayers for me, and for the prayers of your blog friends. I love seeing y our birdies. Your cherries and peaches look so good to me. I have had a few Bartlett pears recently that were delicious.
ReplyDeleteOh, thank you, Mildred. You are so precious, to be concerned for me when you have so much going on in your life right now. I am glad you enjoyed the birdies...and oh, those pears sound good too! Praying for you now...
DeleteIf I had Bluebirds on my yard, I might never get anything done, oh wait, I get very little done even without the Bluebirds. I would love sitting and watching them. Good to hear that you are getting relief from your pain.
ReplyDeleteHa Ha! I don't get much done, that's for sure. Even my window in my little "room with a view", where my computer is, looks out to see what the bluebirds and other birds on the pond are doing. I can sit here amongst the dust and clutter all day and never see it because of those birds! All their fault! LOL. Thank you. I'll be going to PT in a little while. We'll see how my "pain" is after that! Have a blessed day.
