Welcome to my "Open Window"...a place of hope, encouragement, and adventure as we journey down the road from "Closed Doors" to the new opportunities God places in our pathway. I hope you will take the time to go back and follow the trail of mixed blessings and fears, failures and triumphs from the past and side-trips in the present. Perhaps it will conjure up some of your own special memories, and be an invitation for you to share with others. I look forward to spending this time with you!
What Do You See Outside YOUR Open Window Today?
Remember: "When God closes a door, He always opens a window!" You never know what might be out there waiting for you!

Friday Foto Friends...Bliss or Blessed?
Here it is Friday Foto Friends day...and I didn't have my post ready this morning! It's been a rather busy and difficult week, as most of you know, and so I haven't really felt like doing much writing. But I just couldn't let the day slip by without posting something! So this may be a rather random and disjointed post today...let's just wing it and see where it leads, okay?
Here goes:
Yesterday we celebrated 49 years of wedded bliss! Well...49 years of wedded blessings...maybe not all bliss, but certainly all blessed! Like every couple who has weathered many years of marriage to the same partner...we all know it couldn't always be bliss...every couple and family goes through trials and tribulations at one time or another. But the blessing comes by offering up those trials to the Lord in prayer, and trusting Him to guide, control, and strengthen us in the process of this life. When we learn to take our troubles to the Lord, we also learn to dwell in peace and have the joy that can only come from trusting God...no matter what the world throws at us. So thankful that God helped us to build our marriage on the strong foundation of faith in Christ right from the beginning. Had it not been for that Rock holding us up, there were many times we might have given in to despair and sorrow and have crumbled under the strain. Praise God for that Mighty Rock...
"This rock is Jesus, yes He's the One...This Rock is Jesus, the Only One...Be very sure, be very sure, your anchor holds, and grips the Solid Rock..."
In Times Like These
by Ruth Caye Jones
In times like these you need a Savior,
In times like these you need an anchor;
Be very sure, be very sure,
Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!
This Rock is Jesus, Yes He's the One,
This Rock is Jesus, the only One;
Be very sure, be very sure,
Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!
In times like these you need the Bible,
In times like these, O be not idle;
Be very sure, be very sure,
Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!
This Rock is Jesus, Yes He's the One,
This Rock is Jesus, the only One;
Be very sure, be very sure,
Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!
In times like these I have a Savior,
In times like these I have an anchor;
I'm very sure, I'm very sure
My anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!
This Rock is Jesus, Yes He's the One,
This Rock is Jesus, the only One;
Be very sure, be very sure,
Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!
I think I will leave it here for today. Sorry for not having more pictures to share...but this is the message I've been "given" to share with you today.
Amen.
Postscript: I thought I would add a couple of pictures afterall...just to brighten and lighten this up:
We had a delicious steak dinner last night for our anniversary, cooked by our youngest son, who is a "chef"...I didn't take any pictures of the meal...but we used our "wedding china" that rarely gets used due to not being dishwasher safe...Ha Ha:
And recently I found these two bowls at a thrift shop, that go with our other "casual" wedding china:
And even though I really didn't need two more bowls to add to my overstuffed cupboard full of dishes, I could not resist them since they belonged to this set and I never had any of the bowls before!
Also, another random photo or two...I recently had to replace my electric tea-kettle, and purchased this new glass one...and it is such fun to watch the water boil! I love how it lights up with that neon blue light while heating...
They say a "watched pot never boils", but this one does, apparently! Okay, that's all folks. Wanted to come back with a few photos to make you smile. Hope it happened! Be blessed...and it's never too late to get your life safely on that Rock!!! Just ask Him and He'll be there!!
Congratulations on the 49 years of wedding blessings. I love this: "So thankful that God helped us to build our marriage on the strong foundation of faith in Christ right from the beginning." I remember that song well, and it's even more true these days. Love your beautiful dishes and what a sweetheart of a son to cook dinner for you this week. God bless your family with His peace as you celebrate your Nanny's homegoing. xoxo
Congrats on 49 years. That is so awesome!! Hubby and I have 29 years and God also helped us to build on that solid rock. I absolutely love that song. Thank you for sharing.
Congratulations on 49 years of marriage. You are so right, it's not been 'bliss' but it's most assuredly been 'blessed.' I hear you and back you up on the huge difference it makes to have Christ Jesus as the solid foundation of the marriage from the very beginning.
Your wedding picture is so sweet.
Your new electric teapot's blue light reminds me of a lava lamp -- which as you will remember, was very popular in the late 60's-early 70's.
Congrats on your anniversary. Your china is so pretty and I also like the blue light on the kettle. I had looked at a similar..or same, I don't know..one. Ended up with a red one. I am sorry your week was a difficult one. I hope things get much better.
Happy and Blessed Anniversary, Pamela! Yes, I'm impressed by the 49 years of devotion. God has richly blessed you both, and I pray He will continue to do so. Still praying for you all.
Congratulations again on 49 years of married blessings!! Your wedding china is beautiful and how fun to have a personal chef prepare your special dinner! I must admit that I really like your more casual wedding china better!! Love it, actually! How great to have found the matching bowls! I giggled at the blue tea-kettle light. Usually blue means "cold" and red would mean "hot"... It is quite pretty though! I will be keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow as you say good-bye to your dear one, until you meet again. Hugs, my friend!!
Our 41 years of marriage have definitely not always been "bliss"....I don't think that any married couple could honestly say that. I'm so glad you had an anniversary dinner with your hubby, after such a stressful week for you both. Prayers and hugs and much love from Tennessee! <3
Wow! 40 years of wedded blessings. That is quite an achievement and praise God for his solid rock and sure foundation. I enjoyed the hymn and the dinnerware you've shared. Congratulations and many more years of wedded blessings and bliss, ahead. xx
Many congratulations on your 40 years of together happiness dear Pamela. I too had a sad loss this week of a young 40 year old cousin. I spent yesterday at her wake. I only pray she knew the Lord before passing. I'm still praying and hoping so. I enjoyed the hymn and your dinnerware is lovely. Congratulations again my friend.
Thank you for visiting here today. I would love for you to sign my guestbook and let me know you stopped by. I always enjoy reading your comments and words of encouragement! May you be blessed as you go on your way. Please come back and visit again soon.
Congratulations on 49 years! What an accomplishment - you have indeed been blessed by God.

Congrats on your anniversary. Your white and silver China looks very similar to the China I have that used to be my grandmother's.
