1. Last night we received a message that my niece's stepdaughter had been in a very bad car accident. She is 17 years old. The original message said that she was being air-lifted to a hospital with possible serious injuries. We immediately sent out a prayer request on Facebook to our prayer warriors and friends...and waited for more information while we prayed. Let me say this, I was overwhelmed with the number of people who immediately responded in prayer and with words of encouragement and compassion. I may sometimes get frustrated with Facebook, but when the chips are down and we need prayer and help, people have been wonderful to respond quickly and with a heart to pray.
In a few hours we finally heard an update. Apparently the original information was incorrect. She was NOT air-lifted, however, she WAS thrown from the car due to not having a seatbelt on. There were five in the car, and the car was hit broadside on her side, and she was the only one thrown and injured. However, PRAISE GOD!!!! She only sustained a broken left arm (and she is left-handed) and other minor injuries, and was released from the hospital!!!!! PRAISE GOD! I consider that a miracle...anytime a person is ejected from a vehicle upon impact, the chances of very serious injury are very great. But GOD, and because people were praying...this young lady was able to walk out of the hospital with very minor injuries, all things considered. Now, I will say this, this young lady is currently living in a state of rebellion against her family, and she is definitely in need of those prayers to be restored to her family and to the Lord. So please keep praying. I believe God wanted to focus this attention on her for bigger reasons than a broken arm...but PRAISE GOD, that is all it was!!!
2. Our friend Sharon, for whom many have been praying, who is undergoing chemotherapy for lung cancer, is actually doing much better right now! The chemo seems to be shrinking the tumors and she is feeling much better now than she has for several months. We had a wonderful visit with her over the weekend, and it was such a blessing and joy to be with her. She always blesses us more than we could ever bless her. Here we are with her...we are her "Florida Family", as she is Minnesota transplant, and we all adopted her and her son about 10 years ago.
4. I am very thankful for my sweet family...my son and his dear wife, a.k.a. "The Newlyweds"...
Here they are with the two new pictures they created for me for mother's day (the deer and bear silhouettes). They installed them in the bathroom next to my photographs of deer and bears...They are so creative, and had such fun hanging these and getting them straight!! I loved hearing them giggling in there while they worked together. Such a blessing!!!
And here we are with our other son (who just woke up after working a late night shift, but he wanted to join us for Mother's Day dinner, which the kids provided for me!)
5. So thankful for the rain we've been having this week...we needed it so badly!
6. Thankful for these pretty petunias that were a gift to me from my hubby for Mother's Day...
And especially thankful that I spied this deer almost on my front porch...who was EATING my petunias...and I caught him and shooed him away before he ate them all...
He only managed to eat one side of the basket of flowers. I removed the flowers to our enclosed courtyard in the back, and also put some pieces of ivory soap bars around them, and so far the deer have not discovered them. They would have to jump a tall fence to get to them now...but never underestimate the agility of a hungry deer...they've been back by the front porch every day since this tasty snack, looking for them....
8. And last, but certainly not least, I am thankful for my Lord Jesus Christ, Who lived to die for me and you...and He is coming back again to take us home to live with Him in heaven forever!!!
Praying...
ReplyDelete"I consider that a miracle..."
It is a miracle. I wonder if she knows it too? She may already. Or she may later. Prayer works. It reaches right into a life and pulls out everything but what God wants to show us. Then we see. Praying for her!
My youngest son said your blog is beautiful. He also asked if the deer was picking your lock. Haha!
95, wow! I have a feeling when I am 95 I will think it is different than I imagined. Better.
Thank you Sandi...I don't know that this young lady realizes how close she came to eternity...and that God is reaching out to her...to rescue her from the life she currently choosing. Thank you for praying for her. She is in definite need of that prayer. Your youngest son is a real sweetheart. How old is he? So far the deer have not ventured quite THAT close (that I know of), but I keep a close watch on them now that I know they want my Petunias!! LOL Yes, I hope I am as clear in mind and body as my MIL when I reach 95, IF I ever reach 95! She never ceases to amaze us. Have a blessed and beautiful day...and give that youngest son a hug and a high five from me!!
DeleteHe is 11. I also have a 13 year old.
DeleteI read once of someone who was getting older saying, "I have the mind of Christ" every day. They never lost their mental strengths, memory, thinking, etc. I am going to do it too.
Maybe the deer is named Petunia and wanted to snack on his name sake?
ReplyDeleteYou never know.
Lovely family photos. Your mother in law looks very happy :) and the newly weds did a great job on the pictures they made. They look great.
I hope your nieces step daughter heals quickly.
Ha Ha...I think I will name the deer Petunia...maybe name them each Petunia since I can't tell some of them apart...there are three younger deer all about the exact same size, so I really couldn't identify the petunia thief in a lineup. LOL. Thank you for your kind words. Yes, my MIL is happy, especially when her family comes to visit...then she cries tears of joy. The newlyweds are a couple of sweethearts...and thank you for the prayers and kind thoughts for "Kaylie". She may heal physically quickly, but she truly is in need of a deeper kind of healing that may take a little longer...but God is working in her life...she just doesn't realize yet how much He loves her. Have a blessed and beautiful day. Is it still raining there? We will probably have more rain today...but we can use it.
DeleteWhat a wonderful, uplifting post! God is so good!
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting today, Jan! Welcome to my neck of the woods! I look forward to getting better acquainted with you as I just "followed" your blog too! Have a blessed and beautiful day!
DeleteSo much to be thankful for!
ReplyDeleteYour list is a beautiful one and you certainly have much to praise the Lord for.
Answered prayer... and what a tremendous answer. May this young girl find her way back into the loving arms of her family and into the arms of Jesus. His ways are perfect and He has great plans for this young girl.
I know the wild life think we plant things just for their enjoyment and those petunias look mighty delicious.
I cannot plant bulbs of any kind because the squirrels just watch and wait, then dig them up and eat them.
I'm thankful for my salvation in Jesus Christ and for the personal relationship He has with me.
I know that He walks with me and talks with me every moment of the day.
I am thankful for your inspiring and God honoring blog.
Have a blessed rest of the week~
Thank you for your kind words and prayers, Debbie. Yes, we do have much to praise the Lord for...each and every day...He is awesome in His works to man. And yes, please do lift up this young lady "Kaylie" in prayer. She is in need of the Lord in her life...and He is reaching out to her now. Re: the Petunias..yes, I do believe the wildlife think we plant things for them...I live in the forest, and cannot plant too many things because of the deer and bunnies and bears, etc. I don't even try to plant vegetables... Thank you for your God honoring blog as well. I am always uplifted by your thoughts and words expressed. Praying for you as you travel and also when you have your knee surgery. God is with you every step of the way!
DeleteGod is an Awesome God and I do believe He answers prayers. I pray He got your niece's stepdaughter's attention and she will be restored with her family. Teenagers are faced with so much these days. It surely was a miracle she wasn't hurt worse. Giving God the glory and Praise!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sylvia. We will continue to pray for "Kaylie". I'm not too sure she realizes how close she came to eternity...and that God is reaching out to her to restore her to her family and to Himself. We just have to keep praying, and yes, give God the glory for what He is doing. Have a blessed and beautiful day.
DeleteGod answers prayer, in 1989 a young girl was thrown from a jeep in which she was riding without her seat belt fastened. She was seriously injured, spinal injury. She is still alive and has a lovely outlook on life. She lives with her mother and is involved with aiding people in ways that she can. God will take care of Kylie and allow her to serve Him as He wants her to. Peace and blessings.
ReplyDeleteWell, I am reading your Wednesday thankful list on Thursday. So happy that you had such a good Mother's Day, for the good news about your niece's stepdaughter and Sharon! Like you, I am always thankful for our Lord and Savior!!
ReplyDeleteThere are so many people and things for whom/which to be thankful, but especially for our Lord Jesus and the salvation He has provided for each person who will accept Him.
ReplyDeleteThen right after that, today, I will say I am thankful for you and so many others in the blogging community who provide clean reading material on the Internet!
Enjoy the rain. As it leaves your area, it marches right over to me! Indeed, the moisture is a blessing. Everything is looking wonderful!!
I am reading your thankful list on Thursday and it was delightful to see the things you were thankful for. First and foremost of course is our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, then family, this beautiful world He gave us to enjoy and health. Have a blessed day my friend, for which I am thankful to have 'met' here in Blogland.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing thankful list you have, Pamela. We should, indeed, live with a gratitude attitude, seeing each day, even when it's not going the way we hoped, as a gift from God. I will pray for this young lady - God may have definitely used this as a wake up call for her life.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, my friend!
Oh Pam, thank you for sharing what you're thankful for--there is something to be thankful for each and every day IF we are alert to it.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
