Welcome to my "Open Window"...a place of hope, encouragement, and adventure as we journey down the road from "Closed Doors" to the new opportunities God places in our pathway. I hope you will take the time to go back and follow the trail of mixed blessings and fears, failures and triumphs from the past and side-trips in the present. Perhaps it will conjure up some of your own special memories, and be an invitation for you to share with others. I look forward to spending this time with you!
What Do You See Outside YOUR Open Window Today?
Remember: "When God closes a door, He always opens a window!" You never know what might be out there waiting for you!

Tuesday Blessings
Since there is no Tuesday 4 today I thought I would get caught up with pictures and things happening around here since the last time I wrote!
Little by little we are getting things prepared at our house for Easter...
Lily Grace and her dog Bailey are dressed for Easter and excited about how special this week really is.
Lily was especially excited when she found out that these beautiful flowers are called "Easter Lilies"!!
She said, "I'm also an Easter Lily, because I'm all dressed up in my Easter dress and my name is Lily!"
Yes, I guess that's true, Lily! And your name, "Lily Grace", is also all about Easter, because Easter is really all about the Grace of God...His "unmerited favor" towards us...we do not deserve God's grace and salvation...it is a free gift to any who will believe!
Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV
8 "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves,
it is the gift of God—
9 not by works, so that no one can boast."
So yes, Lily Grace, you are a true "Easter Lily"!
So moving along to other things happening so far this week...last night our "kids" came over and brought pizzas for supper! We had a good time "doctoring up" a couple of good frozen supreme pizzas and baking them here. We've decided we like that better than ordering from Dominos. And of course they brought our sweet grandpuppies Sugar and Spice along.
Since we've had to feed the kitties on the front porch now, the kids had to come in through the back door and not let the puppies see the kitties on the front porch. However, it didn't take long for them to discover them out there through the front window:
Talk about squealing, noisiy, excited puppies! Oh my goodness! They wanted to go out there SO bad and see those cats!! Blackie Sue and Sunshine just stared back at them as if to say, "You can't get us! We're safe out here and you're in there and you can't get us!!" I'm afraid my window blinds will never be the same again. LOL.
I can only imagine what it's going to be like when the kittens finally arrive, which, NO, they have not arrived as of yet.
And, isn't it funny how the puppies get all excited watching the cats, and the cat loves to watch the Sand Hill Cranes from her perch on the back porch...
Look how tall Trumpet has gotten!! He literally grows at least an inch every day! Or so it seems.
Blackie Sue loves to watch them, but she knows better than to get too close. That mother Crane would definitely let her know that she wasn't welcome, and it wouldn't be pleasant.
I expect Blackie Sue will feel the same way about her babies when they arrive. That mother instinct is very strong in all of God's creatures...even we human mothers...right?
Oh, this Pileated Woodpecker couple flew back in the other day to peck away at that pine tree. I wonder if they are nesting somewhere around here. We don't often get to see a pair of them together, so this is a real treat!
They certainly are interesting looking creatures, aren't they?
All of this nature around me makes me think of this old hymn:
1 This is my Father's world,
And to my listening ears
All nature sings, and round me rings
The music of the spheres.
This is my Father's world:
I rest me in the thought
Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas--
His hand the wonders wrought.
2 This is my Father's world:
The birds their carols raise,
The morning light,
the lily white,
Declare their Maker's praise.
This is my Father's world:
He shines in all that's fair;
In the rustling grass I hear Him pass,
He speaks to me everywhere.
3 This is my Father's world:
O let me ne'er forget
That though the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the Ruler yet.
This is my Father's world:
Why should my heart be sad?
The Lord is King: let the heavens ring!
God reigns; let earth be glad!
Amen.
Hope you are having a blessed and beautiful Holy/Easter Week.
The pups are so cute checking out the cats! I do love seeing the wildlife around your home. The woodpeckers are kind of majestic I think! And Trumpet is getting so big! Your song today was perfect.
You’ve outdone yourself with all your beautiful photos. Gorgeous! Your little grand pups are cute as they both are looking out the window at the cats. Too cute! All these birds and animals make for enjoyment entertainment! Trumpet has grown so much. I used to raise white doves and they grow fast too. You blink, and they’re the same size as their parents! Guinea pigs are like that too. I was surprised how fast they grow. All your Easter decorations are pretty.
Wow, I think you have outdone yourself on the song and photos to go with it. I used them as part of my devotion this morning. Love the photos of the pileated woodpeckers..I think its amazing to see 2 of them together. Thanks for sharing. Sue
A lot of lovely images in this post, Pam, and animals as well. Like so many others, I too ma awaiting the arrival of the kittens and sure you will be sharing. SOmetimes, those frozen pizzas can be as good as some delivery services especially when "doctored" up. To answer your question on my current blog post, no the parking lot with the snow-covered cars is not our parking lot. The photo shows the parking at another apartment building across the river from ours. We park underground so there's no snow cleaning needed in winter 😀
Good wishes to you and John and your family for a blessed Easter.
Sounds like a nice evening and the dogs look so cute looking out the window. That pizza sounded awesome too! Enjoyed all of the photos and butterfly is so pretty. Enjoy the rest of your week.
Your Easter decorations are beautiful, and yes, Lily is appropriately dressed for the occasion! As for the expected kittens, the moon has been shining in our bedroom window every night and I always wonder if they've come yet.
I loved the pairing of your gorgeous photo with that grand hymn, Pamela - inspirational in all ways! Yes, I imagine the grand pups will be beside themselves once the kittens are born, as that seems to be their thing. I'm sure, too, that Lily Grace will have a blessed Easter as you all celebrate as a family. All blessings to you all today and every day!
I'd have loved to witness Sugar and Spice's reactions ... what a panic! Our girls don't often see cats, but really take offense should one walk across 'their' yard. Tom and I like to do the same with pizza and 'dress' it with our favorites. We recently discovered one called "Corner Booth" (pizza) that's especially yummy, but sometimes hard to find. At any rate, it's certainly more affordable than the big chains. Blessings!
Your babies are precious and they will be really excited when they see the cats. So much beauty in every part of this post. You are all set for Easter and so is little Lilly. Wishing you a beautiful Easter week.
Hi Pam, don't get me started on California and all of it's foibles and annoying things..Not going to get political but its really awful. The Real ID has been postponed so many times and delayed but now "they" say this is the final deadline of May 7th. to prove we are who we say we are already on our licenses and passports. Our passports expired 4 months ago so we had to dig out our birth certificates and get other forms of residence to prove we exist again. PTL its done and we will go tomorrow to submit the "final/final" proof we are who we say we are. Of course it will cost us each an additional fee. Sigh... At least we just sold something on eBay that will cover the cost of the applications. Thanking the Lord for his provisions. Sue
Glad you were able to get all the documents together on time! I remember doing that some years ago. I had never had a copy of my birth certificate or our marriage license before that, so it was actually kind of nice to finally have those things to prove who we were! It was nice to know that I was truly my parents' child! Since I was the only redhead in the family, there had been some doubts. LOL. Actually, my Daddy was a redhead too, but his hair had turned brown by the time I came along so no one really knew he was also a redhead. They said my daddy was the milkman...which was true, because we lived on a farm when I was born! LOL.
I always love your photos that document so well the wildlife activity in your own backyard (and on the front porch!)!! Your pileated woodpeckers look like they are both male. They are beautiful and so colorful! Trumpet does seem to grow by inches overnight! Anxiously awaiting the birth of Blackie Sue's kittens!! Lily Grace looks adorable in her Easter finery! So cute. Sending love and a hug! Praise God!!
Thank you for visiting here today. I would love for you to sign my guestbook and let me know you stopped by. I always enjoy reading your comments and words of encouragement! May you be blessed as you go on your way. Please come back and visit again soon.
