Welcome to my "Open Window"...a place of hope, encouragement, and adventure as we journey down the road from "Closed Doors" to the new opportunities God places in our pathway. I hope you will take the time to go back and follow the trail of mixed blessings and fears, failures and triumphs from the past and side-trips in the present. Perhaps it will conjure up some of your own special memories, and be an invitation for you to share with others. I look forward to spending this time with you!

Friday Foto Friends Ducks and Birds and Miscellaneous Stuff!
The Ring Necked Ducks are back! I first told you about them three years ago HERE and again HERE, and as I went back and re-read those posts from exactly three years ago, I was amazed to see that all of the same things are happening again right now just like they did then! All of these pictures are current, but if you go back and read the previous linked 3 year old posts you will see what I mean!
These fun little diving ducks haven't been back over the past couple of years, except for maybe one or two of them by themselves. And now here they are again, in a big group, males and females...all having so much fun swimming round and round in circles and diving down and up for their food. It's like they are playing "marco polo" in a pool. Please forgive so many photos...I just can't stop watching them!
We are so thankful for our Still Waters Pond and all the beauty that God provides for us to enjoy.
Psalm 27:7-8 NKJV
7 Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice!
Have mercy also upon me, and answer me.
8 When You said, “Seek My face,”
My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.”
Psalm 28:6-7 NKJV
6 Blessed be the Lord,
Because He has heard the voice of my supplications!
7 The Lord is my strength and my shield;
My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore my heart greatly rejoices,
And with my song I will praise Him.
And the next surprise was to see Mr. and Mrs. Bluebird make an appearance! They were checking out the birdhouse...I'm not sure if they are ready to start building a nest yet, but time will tell.
Spring must be in the air, even though it is still technically winter!
And again, here are the wild plum blossoms. I went back to check on them since we had a little freeze the other morning, and they look just fine.
And yes, when you look back at those early posts, you will see they were blooming at the same time then as now. So I guess everything is right on time and in it's season...
Song of Songs 2:10-13 NIV
"10 My beloved spoke and said to me,
“Arise, my darling,
my beautiful one, come with me.
11 See! The winter is past;
the rains are over and gone.
12 Flowers appear on the earth;
the season of singing has come,
the cooing of doves
is heard in our land.
13 The fig tree forms its early fruit;
the blossoming vines spread their fragrance.
Arise, come, my darling;
my beautiful one, come with me.”
Switching gears a bit...Yesterday hubby said he would like some kind of oatmeal bars to snack on...some kind of "healthy snack". So I looked up some recipes and this is what I came up with:
I like that they are no-bake bars! They should be kept in the refrigerator, however, because the peanut butter and honey mixture might become too soft if left out at room temperature. They are very good. I added some raisins and lightly salted peanuts to the recipe to give them more texture and flavor. The recipe also called for drizzled melted chocolate over them, but I didn't do that as I really don't eat chocolate and to me that would take away the "healthy part". LOL. They would kind of remind you of those chocolate peanut butter no bake oatmeal cookies we used to get at school, but without the chocolate. (Remember those?) I think this qualifies as a healthy snack. Oatmeal, honey, peanut butter, cinnamon, raisins and peanuts! Fiber and protein and no cholesterol!
Today was a long day, and that is why I didn't post earlier. We had to go to St. Augustine for a Dr. appt. (hubby), and that took longer than we expected. I had hoped to do a little bit of sight-seeing along the way, but there was no time by the time we got out of there and it was time for a late lunch already. So we tried a new to us place for lunch on the way home: Culver's.
It's basically a fast food hamburger place, but they make the burgers fresh, never frozen, and the other stuff is fresh and good too. We both decided to get the fried jumbo shrimp instead of burgers (I was shocked! Hubby always wants a burger when they are supposed to be good ones! LOL).
I like the cup:
The food was good and I would go back...but I still prefer a place to sit down and be waited on as opposed to fast food style. They did bring our food to us after we ordered and sat down.
I guess they are based in Wisconsin. Hey, our blogging friend Nana Diana Takes a Break was just writing about the fact that she lives in Wisconsin and she listed some things that are special about her state. She didn't mention Culver's, however, so Diana, maybe you need to check this out if it is near you!
So on our way home I was thinking I needed some real photos for today's post, but hubby was anxious to get home. So I just snapped a few pictures as we drove through the city of Palatka after making a wrong turn because of road work and having to detour around the town...and this was a much better view than the way he was going anyway...That's a quick glimpse of the St. John's River at the riverfront park downtown.
Well folks, that's all for today. It's dark out there now. I did have some beautiful sunset pictures that I took a few minutes ago, but somehow I lost them when I was trying to post them into my computer from my phone. You'll just have to take my word for it, it was a very beautiful sunset tonight! I am hoping the pink/red skies will mean that we are going to get some rain tomorrow, because it is getting very dry and smoky out there. Must be some woods burning somewhere nearby, which is always a concern this time of year.
Some final words of wisdom for today:
Jeremiah 33:3 NKJV
3 ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you,
and show you great and mighty things,
which you do not know.’
My "One Word", Listen, doesn't just apply to me listening, but also to the wonderful promise that God also listens to us when we call upon Him...and not only that, but He will answer us when we call, and show us "great and mighty things, which you do not know." Oh, how great is our God! Amen? Amen.
Good Night dear friends.

I was just saying on my post how my daffodils bloom every year at this time - in spite of drought or rain. Same time every year! Nature goes by their own clock that was set up by God's design. Who needs a calendar? Just look at nature.
ReplyDeleteNice post
Amen! God keeps His own calendar for us to enjoy!! Now I need to go see what you wrote that I missed!
DeleteI think there is a Culver’s near me, but I have not been there. We still don’t go In Restaurants. However, every time, through the years, when I visited Indiana to see the grands, I loved Culver’s fries and grilled cheese. When I moved there, I emailed the owner to get him to have veggie burgers. The owner of all Culver’s…the starter of Culver’s. He said there was no real reason to have them…I emailed back and forth nicely. Before I left Indy, I was joying yummy veggie burgers at Culver’s after he emailed me and thanked me. I am sure I was one of many asking for them. Since Covid, I have avoided inside restaurants, but maybe some time, we will go through takeout. My family here does not eat fast food..the grandsons are in grade school and have never had it. I don’t do it either, but Culver’s is better than regular fast food. Glad you enjoyed it. Yummmy yummy…the best restaurant veggie burgers were at the restaurant in Carmel, Ca that Clint Eastwood used to own. Had those every time I visited Ca. Also Jaggers in Indy…miss those.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of the ducks, Pam! They really are pretty to see and I'm sure were interesting to watch! We have two Culvers here in Lakeland with another one being built. I haven't been yet but need to get to one of them soon! Happy weekend! xo
ReplyDeleteOh, what beautiful pictures! 😍
ReplyDeleteThe ducks are so lovely. I would enjoy just sitting and watching them.
ReplyDeleteHi Pamela, I like watching ducks too. You are so blessed to have that pond on your property. Nice that you and hubby got to try a new place. I like a good burger and shrimp. My hubby and I would have order both the shrimp and burger and then shared it. I bet your sunset pictures were nice. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely photos. Our Culvers here in Ocala is good--the service though--needs work. Rude and very slow forgetful folks who work there, just saying. You'll have to come down and we will go to Freddy's-they make the best concrete (custard) milkshakes. Smiles
ReplyDeleteOh yes-We love Culvers. They are such a good place for fresh food and although it is considered 'fast food' you usually have a wait while they make everything to order. They are Wisconsin based and the owner used to pop in to the different stores here.
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures here today. We used to get 'no bake' cookies in school and they were 'boiled' and then dropped into balls. They did have chocolate in them though. I hope you have a wonderful weekend, Pam. xo Diana
There is a Culver's across town from us. I have been there a few times. Being on a restrictive diet (Gluten-free) makes my choices of places to eat very limited. I know they have very good ice cream. I did no-bake cookies back when Roger was young. That recipe called for the ingredients to be boiled. Peace and blessings to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteYour Palatka pictures were very familiar since I've been through there many times. Your photography of your pond in this post is especially good. So colorful. Really pretty.
ReplyDeleteAs for Culver's, my family in Illinois introduced me to it years ago and I am so happy we have one not too awfully far from my home now. Yes, their burgers really are good. I should try the shrimp you had.
These photos of Still Waters Pond are exquisite, Pam. Some of your best! Don't tell Tom there's anything I miss about Arizona (lol), but Culvers is one. Their butter burgers and custards were truly soul satisfying. (At least I thought so at the time!) Love your drink cup! Have a blessed weekend!
ReplyDeleteHello. I love the ducks and birds that hang out around your home. Looks like spring has sprung where you are. Still very cold and gray here in Utah. I have never been to Culvers, but the commercials on TV always make me want to go. We have a couple around here. Thanks for sharing that recipe. Sounds so good! I hope you continue to enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou can never have too many photos of ducks or birds.
ReplyDeleteI love the sunny pictures too!
Have a good weekend.
Beautiful pictures as always! Love the bluebirds!
ReplyDeleteHey, I can post on Blogger again! Yay. *giggle*
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this post a lot. It's nice to see photos of Palatka. It's a nice town, or, at least it was before we moved further North in the 90s.
Here's hoping the remainder of your weekend is sweet and easy.
Blessings. xx
Wonderful news!!!! Welcome back! Are you going to start blogging again? I miss your posts! Palatka has its good points still and is starting to grow a bit, but they, like all smaller cities, do have their "issues". I miss the mall and JC Penney's a LOT. Other than that, it's okay.
DeleteHow marvelous to have your flock of wood ducks back, Pamela! I can tell by the photos that they are so much fun to watch. Yes, we went to Culver's just the other day; sadly, this trip was disappointing, but no need to go into details. One of the meals that's always been delicious is the fish sandwich (but leave off the cheese). That's what I should have ordered, but went for a hamburger; you have to order the deluxe if you want any thing other than bun and burger - not great, but my mistake.
ReplyDeleteEven here in GA, my neighbor's daffodils are blooming - that's the earliest I can recall. They usually don't show their gorgeous faces until February.
Blessings!
Love, love, love the pictures of Still Water Pond. Nature is a beautiful thing. I'm not familiar with Culvers, guess we don't them here. I did live in Wisconsin many years ago, it's a beautiful state. We visited the Wisconsin Dells and it's where I saw Pollyanna for the first time. I also have lived in Louisiana, and they have the most beautiful trees with moss hanging from them. It's a pretty sight to see. Enjoyed visiting, hope you're having a great day.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! Oh we love Culvers. They have good fish too but now I am going to get those shrimp. I love shrimp and we usually go to Red Lobster for that. Now I am truly hungry. heeheehee Have a wonderful week filled with many blessings.k
