Welcome to my "Open Window"...a place of hope, encouragement, and adventure as we journey down the road from "Closed Doors" to the new opportunities God places in our pathway. I hope you will take the time to go back and follow the trail of mixed blessings and fears, failures and triumphs from the past and side-trips in the present. Perhaps it will conjure up some of your own special memories, and be an invitation for you to share with others. I look forward to spending this time with you!

Friday Foto Friends - "Longing For God"
"As the deer pants for the water brooks,
So pants my soul for You, O God.
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When shall I come and appear before God?"
My tears have been my food day and night,
While they continually say to me,
'Where is your God?"
Psalm 42:1-3 NKJV
As I was taking my evening walk I happened upon this young deer, who was obviously separated from his Mama. As the pictures progress, little deer is actively moving back toward safety with the mother deer. He did not stop to eat or smell the flowers until he was back within close range of her. Once they were reunited...and the mother felt that I was no threat to them, they both were able to relax and eat a bite together.
Isn't that a lot like us when we get too far away from the safety net of the Throne of God? We sometimes have a tendency to wander away from the protection of His mercy and grace, thinking we are smart enough and big enough to take care of ourselves. Suddenly we find ourselves lost and alone, while the enemies of our soul gather around and threaten our peace of mind and sense of security, taunting us with their jibes and laughter at our confusion, saying, "Where is your God?"
When we wake up from our wanderings and realize our danger, isn't it wonderful to race back into the welcoming arms of our heavenly Father, knowing that He will never turn us away...and that He will stare down the face of the enemy and stand guard while we rest in the security of His love?
"Why are you cast down, O my soul?
And why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him
for the help of His countenance!"
Psalm 42:5
"The Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime,
and in the night His song shall be with me..
A prayer to the God of my life."
Psalm 42:8

So beautiful and perfect combination of of pics and contemplation. Loved this as I sit on back porch waiting for Max to arrive today.
ReplyDeleteAh...today you can "play" with sweet Max. What a hard life you lead, Susie! :) You are truly blessed and I am so happy for you. Thank you for taking a few moments to stop by and visit here with me today. Wish it was for real! Someday!
DeleteBeautiful post Pam, and so very true. We are lost without Him. Your pictures are awesome!!
ReplyDeleteYes, we are lost without Him, but thanks be to God, He is never far away and always ready to be found by us! We just need to head back in the right direction and he'll take care of the rest.
DeleteWhat a beautiful analogy!! Your brought your message and those great photos together perfectly!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Terri. God brought it together, just like He helped little deer to get back to its mama...He helps us to get back where we belong when we stray a little off track. So thankful.
DeleteBeautiful truth, Pam. So thankful for His love that never lets us go and He draws us with cords of loving kindness. Would love to be able to take walks and see deer. They are so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteCome on over and join me sometime! It seems as though they are always nearby lately...except when I purposely go looking for them. Ha! Thank you for your thoughts...yes...so thankful for those 'cords of loving kindness'. Praise God!
DeleteThank you so much for this great biblestudy! Love it. O and thank this beautiful photos with me. I know in our forest are deers too but I have never seen one coming so close! I was reading something about it after I read your blog and now I want to share it with you :-) "God's Holy Spirit is Himself the water brook for man's consolation; and He comes, as the Nile when it overflows its banks, and wherever there is a channel, or an aperture, or even a crack in the dry and thirsty soil, there He pours in the life-giving streams of comfort and of love, as one who knows not how to give and to bless enough. Your mourning heart is opened by its very grief, and He is come to bless it. Doubt Him not. Doubt not but that the same Spirit will restore you to peace and joy; will fill you with the assurance of fresh hope; will strengthen you to bear meekly the yoke which He shall lay upon you; will make you to overflow with love, and give you even upon earth a foretaste of heaven." God bless you.
ReplyDeleteOh Jedidja, thank you for these thoughtful words...so beautiful. Very soothing to my soul this morning. "Doubt Him not!" AMEN...anointed words of God's Holy Spirit. God bless YOU!
DeleteThis was just so wonderful to read and see your lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this uplifting post.
Thank you Annie. I am so glad this was a blessing to you. Isn't our God amazing? Amen!
DeletePam, the photos you captured of the deer are amazing. They are beautiful creatures (as long as they stay off the roads!). Psalm 42 is one of my favorites...that is how I want to long for the Lord always!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
I understand what you mean about the deer staying off the roads. We have a serious problem out here in the forest with that. Thankfully, where I live the deer are able to forage for food and wander about in the bushes in safety...until hunting season. That is what I don't like. Yes, longing for God to fill us, restore us, and draw us closer to His heart.
DeleteBlessings to you today as well my friend.
Oh, my, this is just awesome. The pictures and perfect scripture and the analogy of our relationship with God. Thank you so much for sharing. Hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you Debbie. Isn't our God amazing? He puts these things together...I am just His conduit for showing His glory and beauty. Thank you for making this Friday Foto Friends group possible. Have a beautiful weekend. Blessings to you and yours.
