Perhaps you are still in distress of one kind or another.Psalm 81:7 "You called in trouble, and I delivered you; I answered you in the secret place of thunder; I tested you at the waters of Meribah."
Perhaps you have been calling and calling, and you still haven't received the answers you were hoping for.
Maybe you are ready to give up.
Maybe you don't think anyone is listening.
In the Gospel of Luke, chapter 18:1-8, Jesus tells a parable about a judge who "did not fear God nor regard man." There was a certain widowed woman who pleaded with that judge to "Get justice for me from my adversary."
In verses 4-5 it says that the judge "would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself, 'Though I do not fear God nor regard man, yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.'"
"Then the Lord said, 'Hear what the unjust judge said. And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though he bears long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily."
I don't know how many of us are actually asking God to get justice from our adversaries. I think most of us just need answers to difficult questions and help with distressing situations. But the premise is still the same...God hears our pleas, and He is not disregarding our condition. Hold fast...help is on the way. Perhaps He has already answered our prayers...Maybe we need to take the time to recognize that and say, "Thank you."
Lord, I thank You tonight for the answer to many prayers...most particularly right now for the provision of a job...I am so grateful. I lift up my friends to You also...Hear their prayers, Lord...meet their needs in a real way...and we give You praise for what You are going to do. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
