Sunday Evening Randomness

Good Sunday Evening friends! I hope you've had a pleasant day today, taking time to spend time in worship of the Lord, and resting from your week's labors.  We've had a chilly, but lovely sunny day. Started out this morning at 27 degrees! Thankfully it warmed up to 56, but it's expected to be back down to 27 again tomorrow morning! Yes, here in sunny Florida!  Here's a picture of the sunset on Still Waters Pond a little while ago. You can't see them in this picture, but a flock of geese had just landed on the pond a few minutes before, with a lot of honking and splashing about, and then they swam around the island to settle in for the night I guess. Peaceful end to a peaceful day.

I thought I'd share a few random photos from this past week, some from here at home, and a few leftovers from our trip to Georgia that I haven't shared previously.  I'll kind of be working in reverse...

On Thursday and Friday nights I had the joy and privilege to wear this ring while I tried to sleep. Yes, this is a sleep apnea testing machine! 

Oh how times have changed since you had to go spend the night at a sleep testing center, all wired up with electrodes to your chest and brain to determine if you were experiencing sleep apnea.  Now they just send this little electronic ring in the mail, and you have to sync it with your cell phone via bluetooth, and wear this on your finger while you sleep and it records your breathing (or not breathing, as the case may be). No awful electrodes attached, no cannula in your nose...no machine whirring keeping you awake...just this ring, which glows red in the dark, and keep your cell phone plugged in nearby, and you are good to go.  After doing this two nights in a row I had to package the ring back up and send it back in the package via UPS, their label provided. Hopefully the report has already been uploaded to whomever via the cell phone app that I had to download, and then they will report to my Doctor and determine if I need to wear a cpap machine or not. I don't want to, believe me. I am claustrophobic and hate having anything over my nose or mouth anytime, but we shall see what develops.

On a more pleasant note, earlier this week we took a walk to our usual walking path, and discovered that the wild plum trees are blooming already!!

So I snapped a few pictures to enjoy before the big freeze hit this morning. I hope it didn't destroy the blossoms!

Now, going back to Georgia, we saw this painting of "The Rapture", which was displayed in the historical museum in the old county courthouse in Blairsville, GA.  

Below is a description of why the painting was there. I love that you can see the people flying up into the air to meet the Lord in the sky. This was supposed to be a depiction of the way it would look in the area of Blairsville, up in the mountains of Ga., back in the 1940's.  We, as believers in Christ, are still looking forward to that day when we will meet the Lord in the air, and we hope that it is soon.

Now, in another building in the same town, in a little gift shop, was found this plaque and this wall of magazine pages from the 1960's.  Read below to explain, and then look at the pictures to see what you can find:

It was fun walking down memory lane. Of course I was very young in the 1960's...

I didn't buy much while we went shopping in a lot of cute little stores, but we needed some jelly to go with our peanut butter, and this one sounded good, so I bought it. It was good. This same store had jellies made with moonshine, but I decided I'd better stick with something I was more familiar with...LOL. 

We saw this picture hanging in the lobby of a restaurant we visited. It is "painted" with all kinds of items, real rocks on the chimney, wooden pieces for the fence, fabric for the clothes on the fence, and other pieces of wood, etc. to build the cabin and other articles. It was very cleverly done.

Oh, I thought I'd include a couple of photos from the bathrooms of the cabin we rented for the weekend. Thought you might enjoy seeing how they made the sink cabinets ...

I guess that's all I've got for tonight's randomness. I hope you enjoyed the "show". 

And in case you missed church today and would like to visit ours, here's the message from today, taken from Romans 12:3-21, "Taking Steps in a Positive Direction".  The choir is singing "Praise Him! Praise Him!" at the beginning.
