Tuesday 4~Fall Y'all, How's It Going?

 

Fall Y'all.. how's it going?

So, can we talk about how your autumn is going this year? Maybe we can get you to post a photo or two of your area in autumn...big changes or not.

Autumn here in our area is different than where most of you live. However, our November days seems to be pretty typical so far...we've had three days in a row without the seeing the sun shine! It's not very cold, just damp and chilly...good days to stay indoors and bake or clean house in preparation for Thanksgiving next week!!!

1. Are leaves still falling where you are or are they done now? Have they even changed yet?

We had to go take a ride and a walk to find some autumn leaves to share with you, so that is why my post is late this morning.  Here's what we found...remember, this is north central Florida.  Maple trees and other autumn foliage are not in abundance here, but still there is some fall foliage to make us smile:

Yes, it appears that most of the leaves have already fallen, but thankfully they fell into the pond, so I don't have to worry about raking them!

These heart shaped leaves are from the wild grape vines growing all over the woods:

We took a ride and walk at our little town park, and here's a pretty maple tree waiting to greet us:

It's a chilly, cloudy, breezy day, and yes, the leaves are falling:

These are huge sycamore trees, and their leaves are also huge:

This is one of the sycamore tree leaves...not particularly colorful, but they are very large!!!

This is the old caboose in our town park, where the depot used to stand. The walking trail is where the railroad tracks used to be.

2. Does anyone in your family go hunting? Have you ever gone? Would you tell us about it?

No hunters here in my immediate family. I have never gone myself. Not too sure I would be able to shoot an animal. But I do appreciate those who can do it and the meat is always good! As a matter of fact, one of the dishes at the potluck on Saturday at our church contained venison sausage and peppers and onions. It was pretty good, although the sausage was a bit too spicy for my taste.

3. Who rakes the leaves at your house?

Well, we don't have the kind of leaves that most people have during the autumn months. But we do have huge Live Oak trees that drop their little leaves during the winter months, and hubby and I usually try to do the raking ourselves. Not sure I will be much help this year with a bad shoulder/arm.  So we may need to enlist some helpers from the young folks.

4. Is football on your menu for fall? What teams get you cheering?

Hubby and sons enjoy watching football together. I personally have no preferences. My father attended Penn State, and my mother was from Ohio, and they used to enjoy watching the rivalry between Ohio State and Penn State.  So when I hear that game is going on, my ears perk up and I love to see bits of it. I never know who to root for because of my loyalty to both parents, but somehow it seems like I usually lean towards Ohio because I've spent more time in Ohio than in Pennsylvania in my lifetime. (even though I was born in PA.)   Here's a link to highlights of this year's game, which I believe Ohio won...

Oh, a note to those of you who have followed our washing machine saga...the new washing machine (#2), seems to be working just fine! I am gratified to know that the issues with the first new washing machine (#1) were most likely due to machine error as opposed to human error.  Now that I see how this thing is supposed to work, I realize that the other machine never did anything exactly as it was meant to work from the start.  Shew! That's a relief!  My "mother-board" is still intact after all! LOL.  All's well that ends well!
