Friday Foto Friends...Just Swinging In To Say Hello

   Thought I'd just swing in to say hello to my Friday Foto Friends!

 By Robert Louis Stevenson

(I have had this book since my early childhood. It is a real antique treasure !)

Here is why my face was so happy as I was swinging under that big old oak tree...Isn't this a beautiful sight?

"Up in the air and over the wall, 'till I can see so wide...

 Rivers and trees and cattle and all...

Over the countryside..."

I will only mention to you that when you ask me what kind of place are you looking for when you sell your house and move...Well...you see what I am looking for in these pictures above! It's not about the house as much as it is about the location.

No, we haven't sold our house yet (but we are still praying...)  and No, we haven't bought another house yet...(but we are still praying...)  and if we were able to do so today, I think I would have signed on the dotted line.  Yes, it is available...yes, it is beautiful...oh, you wanted to know what the house is like?  Well, let's just say that we would definitely have to downsize a bit, and the road to get to this place is definitely "scenic"

And there might be some very interesting "neigh"bors along the way...(or maybe I should say, Hee-Haw!)

But I won't show any pictures of the house unless we actually are able to purchase it...which won't be happening anytime soon unless a miracle takes place pretty quickly before someone else snaps up this gem in the wild!

So we will just leave it at that for now.  There are many hoops to jump through before we can make an offer on any house...mainly a solid contract on our house first...but we can still dream and enjoy the scenery along the way...

And keep a "Happy Thought", as Robert Louis Stevenson did:

"The world is so full of a number of things,
I'm sure we should all be as happy as kings."

And yes, we are waiting on the Lord to show us His plan...which might  WILL even be better than anything we could have imagined, so it is best to wait on Him.

Portions of Psalm 16

5.  "O Lord, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup;
You maintain my lot.
6.  The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places;
Yes, I have a good inheritance.
7.  I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel;
My heart also instructs me in the night seasons.
8.  I have set the Lord always before me;
Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.

11.  You will show me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore."

Thank You, Lord, for giving us wisdom and guidance in this process. We will continue to trust in You.
Amen.

Okay, friends, let us go over to Deb's place at Breathing in Grace and visit with our other Friday Foto Friends !  Hope you have a blessed and beautiful day, filled with happy thoughts!

  1. Lovely photos. I especially like the one of you swinging. :) The Swing was the first poem I ever memorized. I still know it by heart.

    1. Thank you, Stacy. I'm so glad you enjoyed the "swinging", as well as the poem! Those little poems are so special. I wish children were still learning those today...

  3. Beautiful posting all the way around!
    You have a smile that I believe is catching, you could put a smile on any face with the joy that flows from your countenance.
    That photo of you on the swing is priceless.
    The view surrounding that swim on the property is breathtaking.
    Who knows...just maybe God has your name on it. :)
    Always a joy to visit with you, sweet friend~

    1. Thank you so much, Debbie. (and I got your other message below too! LOL). Your kind and sweet thoughts made me smile even bigger. It was amazing how much joy that little swing gave me...I think it should be required that every home should have a swing...even for us "old folks". It truly made me smile!! Thank you for your thoughts and prayers regarding our future "home", wherever it may be. God knows, and we are waiting and praying.

  4. Oops! I wanted to say swing not swim, though it's fitting with that water.

  5. I love your smiling photo in the swing. We had swings like those as kids in a tree that was 100 years old. I like the sweet poems too!

    1. Thank you, Karen. I was so amazed at just how happy that little swing made me feel! I think we should all have swings and use them every day, no matter how old we are!! And Robert Louis Stevenson wrote such sweet poems for children. I wonder if children today have ever even heard of him! Probably not.

  6. Lovely place. I hope you get your dream home. If that doesn't happen I hope your kids find the drive to your place something they love doing so much that they are there all the time to visit or they find the house next door to you something they can't live without!

    1. Thank you, Ann. We mainly want to stay in the center of God's will, whatever house or land it may be. Our current home is wonderful, but just not in the town where we are spending most of our time these days, and we really want to move closer to our church and kids there. But selling this house and finding our "dream home" in our price range just seems to be a slower process than we ever imagined it would be. But God is in control, and I am trying really hard to be patient. Thank you for your kind thoughts.

  7. These are inviting pictures. Does the swing go with the house? (being silly.) Still praying for your house to sell so you can set your plans in motion. Peace and blessings to you.

    1. Thank you, Cecelia. Yes, that swing would go with the house...but the house is very small and I just don't know if I could "swing it". The property is gorgeous, but we have to live in the house...so I am praying. If that is where God wants us to be, it will still be available when our house sells...but if not, then there will be a good house with a little more space...and maybe even a swing...somewhere else! Thank you for your prayers.

  8. Oh, my goodness, Pamela, I had that same book growing up!!! Loved it so much. And as always, I enjoyed your photos, and will continue to pray that God shows you the path to a new home sooner than later.
    Blessings!

    1. Isn't it amazing how many of us grew up with the poetry of Robert Louis Stevenson? I wonder if any children today have ever heard of him. You must read him to your granddaughters! His poems are such classics. Thank you for your prayers. Please keep them coming. I feel like we are getting closer to a "breakthrough", and I don't want to get out of line and jump ahead of God.

  9. You look fantastic swinging the day away dear Pamela. Love all the photos. Haven't read A Child's Garden Of Verses in years. Thanks for the memories my friend.

    1. THank you, Toni. I enjoyed that little swing so much!! I've wanted one for so long, and we don't have the proper kind of tree here at our current home to hang one. So when I saw this I just had to jump on it and start swinging! It was a very pleasant time. Amazing how such a little thing can bring so much joy!!!

  10. Oh my, what a beautiful place that is!! Your secret garden would transfer there quite nicely, Pam. I'm praying for you!!

    1. Thank you, Terri. Yes, there are many places for a 'secret garden' there, but the whole place is so lovely, I don't know that I'd keep any of it a secret if we lived there! Thank you for the prayers. Please keep it up. We are truly wanting to know God's plan in all of this...

  11. Like you, I have been a fan of the poems by Robert Louis Stevenson. My mother used to quote him when Sister and I were little, and I did the same for my children, and to this day, I like to quote, "The rain is raining all around, it fall on field and tree. It falls on .... and on the ships at sea." I probably don't have that quite right and I forget some of the words.

    And I also like to quote God's Word with what you shared, "the lines have fallen to me in pleasant places."

    It's amazing to me the similar trains of thought you and I have sometimes!

    1. Good Morning! I just looked up your RLS quote above, and here it is: "The rain is raining all around, It falls on field and tree, It rains on the umbrellas here, And on the ships at sea." I love that you also love Robert Louis Stevenson. This little book that I have is such a treasure. I am so glad I managed to keep it all these years! Yes, we do have similar thoughts, and it seems like we run in similar patterns of moving, downsizing, dolls, etc. So how are you doing? Been thinking about you as you are settling into your wonderful new home. I know you are busy, busy. Can't wait to see more pictures. Hope you are perhaps even meeting some neighbors and getting better acquainted with your new neighborhood. Praying for you!! God bless you and your Beloved.

  12. What a precious book to have from your childhood. I couldn't get enough books or books of poetry to keep me happy when I was growing up. I considered them my friends. Unfortunately, I have only one from when I was a girl and that is a Trixie Beldon book. And alas, I think I got rid of it when we were cleaning out for our move which hasn't taken place. We have decided to stay here for the time being. Your view from the swing is amazing and I would long for that too. Nature has always ministered to my soul. The Lord has just the right place for you and His timing is always perfect. I'm so thankful He knows what we need and long for.
    I left you a Reply comment on my blog about the sauce. And I thoroughly enjoyed your previous post. Anne and I have been friends for a very long time! Blessings to you...Sandi

    1. I did not know that you had been considering a move! I must have missed that somewhere along the line. Wondering if you were wanting to move further south, or nearer to your kids? Yes, I do know that God's timing is always perfect, and we are trusting Him to guide us each step of the way. I just get a bit over-anxious and want things to happen NOW! But I know God's plan is best. He will have the right place for us at the right time. I will go check and see what you wrote about the cottage pudding sauce. And thank you for visiting my previous post about Anne. I knew you would enjoy it. Blessings to you today.

  14. What fun to swing to such beautiful sights! It must be a very difficult place to be in right now, the "not knowing", that uncertain place. I remember a time like that in my life, and remember reading in my "Utmost for His Highest" a passage that talked about "certain uncertainty" and the way that you can be at peace even in those uncertain times, because you serve a GOD that we can be certain in. I will pray that the Lord continues to unfold His will and plan for you in the right time! Blessings to you sweet friend!

    1. Thank you, Marilyn. That means so much to me. Yes, I feel like I am "swinging" between faith and unbelief, back and forth...and God wants me to be strong and stable, and Stand STILL, and KNOW that He is God...and He is working all things together for our good. I just have a hard time in being patient. God knows me so well...and He still loves me. Thank you for praying.

  15. That looks like so much fun! I would swing every chance I get but there seems to be a lack of them around where I visit. You are in my prayers about your house. It sounds like a great place!
