Friday Foto Friends

Good Morning Friday Foto Friends.  I've been a little slow this week it seems...just haven't had much energy for writing.  I am feeling better, and am very thankful for that. Hubby is still coughing, but I think he's also getting better.  I made it to choir practice tonight.(Writing this on Thursday night). We are practicing for our Easter Cantata, which will be performed on Easter Sunday morning.  I've missed some practice, so tonight was important to get back in the "groove".  Praying that my voice will hold out, as I do have a solo part, and I am still sounding a bit rusty.  Prayers would be appreciated!

Let's see, what pictures can I share with you from this past week?  Well, right now we are "grandpuppy sitting" for our two sweet little grandpuppies while our kids, a.k.a. "the Newlyweds" are taking a little mini-vacation.  The white pekingnese is an albino, and her name is "Sugar". The tan pekingnese is named "Spice".  They are both sweet little "sister" doggies, and we are having a good time.

 We looked at another house this week, with a "park-like" setting...and I again fell in love with it...

 This one wasn't on the water, but it had plenty of woods and pretty things to compensate...

Plenty of places for secret gardens and bird feeders and beautiful places to take walks...

Or sit and watch the birds and nature

But alas! Someone else also fell in love with it and was able to make an acceptable offer before we could.  And so another one bites the dust.  You may wonder why we are even looking if we can't make an offer yet...since we haven't sold our house...but we still want to look because good houses in our price range don't come available very often in this area, and when they do, there's always that hope that we could possibly make a "contingency offer" if the seller is willing to work with us.  Plus, we have hopes that ours will sell soon, and when it does, we won't have a lot of time to go searching...so at least this way we can rule out the not so good houses and get a better idea for where we would want to live.

So for now, the search goes on...and when the time is right, God will bring all the right pieces together to make it happen. It is a lesson in patience for me for sure...and I fear that I am not learning this lesson very well.

I thought it was funny that these people had this "Frisch's Big Boy" in their house. Or do you remember him from Shoney's?  I know the "Big Boy" was pretty popular back in the 60's...Here's a link to the Wikipedia info on the Big Boy.  Seems like everyone knew the Big Boy Hamburgers from somewhere or other...

I also found it interesting that they had this "bear rug" in this house...which made me think that this house was meant for me...but again...not to be... not for me...

But one, actually two blessings have come about this week...we've had two different offers of a place to stay if our house should sell before we find another one to move to! Both totally unexpected and very gracious offers...so we give praise and thanks to God for we know He is watching over us and He does have a plan for our good.  We just have to be patient...

So back to my house and neighborhood...

Look who showed up in our yard this afternoon?

Yep, Mrs. Gobble Gobble doing the turkey wobble...

(She does look rather wobbly, doesn't she?)

And then, she just laid right down in the sand in our front yard and started rolling around in it... I think you call this "sand-bathing"...Maybe that's her way of picking off the fleas and ticks and mites...
Here is a LINK to some interesting information about turkey behavior that you just might want to know!

She didn't seem to be too embarrassed to bathe in front of our house...

Shortly after this she got up and literally flew away as my hubby went outside to take a walk.  She started up running and then lifted in the air and flew right down the road. I was sorry I couldn't get the camera to click fast enough to capture that. I was trying to keep the puppies in the house when hubby went out the door and I couldn't do everything at once.  (I'm getting old).

And last but not least, here are a couple of our local Swallow-tailed kites giving me the look over  as I was taking a walk the other morning. Yes, these are two different birds, in two different trees, but within sight of each other. I think they are mates.  Pretty neat, huh?

Okay, that's all folks.

On a more serious note, Prayers are needed for some dear ones in our "family circle".  Our dear friend Sharon, who has been battling lung cancer for over a year, is having some setbacks and is losing her eyesight.  She is also making some serious decisions now regarding where she would like to spend her remaining days.  This will be a huge transition for her if she decides to go "home" to Minnesota where all of her family resides.  Up to now, her family has been taking turns coming here (to Florida) to care for her, and they have done a remarkable job. But I think she is wanting to be back "home" where she can be with all of them. Thank you for praying as plans are made to make this transition.

My oldest brother Russell is battling leukemia, and he will start a new series of treatments next week as the previous treatment has not been doing what they hoped it would do.  He is definitely in need of our prayers.  Thank you again.  These dear ones have been on my heart pretty heavy this past week especially, so that is probably why I just haven't had the energy to do much writing/reading. I know you understand that.

Here's some words of hope and encouragement and a "Plea for Help from the Sanctuary"
found in God's Word:

Psalm 20
1.  "May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble;
May the name of the God of Jacob defend you;
2.  May He send you help from the sanctuary,
and strengthen you out of Zion;
3.  May He remember all your offerings,
and accept your burnt sacrifice.
4.  May He grant you according to your heart's desire,
and fulfill all your purpose.
5.  We will rejoice in your salvation,
and in the name of our God
we will set up our banners!
May the Lord fulfill all your petitions.
6.  Now I know that the Lord saves His anointed;
He will answer him from His holy heaven
with the saving strength of His right hand.
7.  Some trust in chariots, and some in horses;
But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.
8.  They have bowed down and fallen;
but we have risen and stand upright.
9.  Save, Lord!
May the King answer us when we call."

Even though King David was pleading for salvation in the time of battle against human enemies, we can also apply these same truths as we fight the enemies of our bodies and souls.
Praise God, Our God will answer us when we call!!

Hope you have a blessed Friday and weekend.
I will catch up with you later. We have to go out of town for most of the day Friday, so I won't be able to visit you until later.

    1. Thank you, Toni, I know God hears our prayers and we are trusting Him to do all things well on behalf of all. Thank you for visiting. That turkey was funny, wasn't she? I think she has a nest near here because she has been hanging around quite a bit lately. Hope your weekend is filled with blessings also.

  4. Sharon and Russell are on my prayer list, Pamela, and I will continue to pray for them. I'll also pray that God leads you to a new home soon. The one you visited had such a charming landscape, but I'm sure the one the Lord has in mind will be even better!
    Blessings, my friend!

  5. I am sorry for your friends and will pray for their recovery and health.
    Your photos are great this week. I love the garden refuges you found and am sorry it wasn't to be your new home but I know you will find an answer to moving. I hope all goes well for you :). Have a glorious Friday.

    1. Thank you, Ann, for your prayers on our family/friends behalf. That means a lot to me. And thank you for your kind thoughts regarding our future home. We know God has a beautiful place that He is preparing for us...we just have to be patient and wait on Him, because what He plans is the best. I hope you have a blessed weekend, and that it doesn't rain on your roof!!

  6. Pam: I like the scenic pictures of the woods and the park bench. In out part of town, we have a Frisch's big boy that is an outside statue, standing about 6' tall. People who go to the restaurant and are from out of town pose to have their pictures taken by it. It got defaced a few years ago. The newspaper ran a story asking if it should go or stay. They had an 'election' to decide. The statue stayed. I will add Sharon and Russel back to my prayer list. Peace and blessings.

    1. Wow, you still have a Frisch's Big Boy in your town? But the restaurant is something else, right? I'm glad your town decided to keep the statue. Things like that are fun and interesting to tourists as well as the locals. Thank you for your prayers for Sharon and Russell. That means a lot to me. Blessings and peace to you as well.

  7. Pamela, I think you are doing the right thing by looking at houses you can possibly afford for the various reasons you mentioned. I would no doubt do the same thing in your circumstances because i like to know what my real options might be and what I like and don't like. It seems like the kind of places that appeal to you are also the kind of places that I would love if I had a chance. I'm sure God will provide just what you need when the time comes. It really was a blessing to have offers of 2 places to stay if your home sells first. That really helps a lot and gives you some breathing space. Sorry to hear about sickness with family and friends. It is a heavy burden when we love others and I pray that you will feel the prayers of friends lifting you up and also those that you love and care for. May God give you peace and rest.

    1. THank you so much, Joyful, for your kind thoughts and prayers. You have given me some much needed reassurance on the house subject. Thank you. And yes, it does mean a lot to know that others are praying for our loved ones and friends and other issues. So glad we have this forum where we can share with one another in this way. Thank you again for your prayers. May God's peace and blessings be with you today as well.

  8. I'm sorry the "Shoney's Big Boy" house sold. This is a baffling time and hard to endure but you will come through it!!

    Turkeys -- they are just strange. I have to say, Ms. Turkey looks kinda scrawny and sand-bathing? That is a new one to me. But you sure got some good pictures of her!

    Puppy-sitting -- we've done that. We can't any more because Beloved is apparently allergic to the Shitzu. The Yorkiepoo doesn't make his eyes itch and water.

    I'm keeping your situation in my prayers and am eager to see how this all turns out!

    1. Thank you for your kind words and prayers. I think I already emailed you a reply to this...but thank you again. God is in control!!!. I just told my realtor (who JUST informed me that the couple who wanted to have a 2nd look at our house has now decided on another house...so cross them off the list) anyway, I just told her, "It may feel like Good Friday, but Easter's coming!!" God is in control. We will not be dismayed.

  9. Praying for your and your sale & purchase dilemma. I've been praying for Sharon and Russell and will continue for all. That house with the great yard and bear rug looks perfect but as you said... God has something else in mind. You have to keep looking for all the reasons you listed! Keep us posted! Hugs!

We know God will reign victorious in this as well as many other issues...so we will not be dismayed. Have a blessed weekend and a wonderful Palm Sunday!
