I Forgot Friday Foto Friends Day!

Some pretty wildflowers along the road this morning

I am so crazy!  Last night at 10 pm, as I was falling into bed and thinking back over the day, I suddenly realized that I never posted anything for Friday Foto Friends!!!! I can't believe it!!! I do have at least one good excuse...yesterday morning I had to go get a PERM at 9 a.m....so I was gone all morning...(No picture yet...as I type this I am still in morning bedhead mode)...and the night before we had a wild night...

The wild night started before we went to bed, when we realized there were ants coming and going into a little tiny hole up on the ceiling above our bed. We have a high pitched ceiling, and at the top joint somehow these "carpenter ants" (they don't eat wood, however) had found a home up inside there.  So hubby had a great idea that we put some caulking and or spackling compound over the hole.  However since it was so high and we didn't want to move the bed, get a ladder, etc., we just tried to daub it on there from the end of a long pole.  It wasn't a very well done job, but we thought it would at least keep the ants from marching two by two over our heads all night, and then we could fix it better the next day.  Well, in the middle of the night my hubby was awakened by falling bits and pieces of the spackling compound...and as we shone the light up on the ceiling, the ants were running all over the place trying to dismantle our work as fast as they could.  So we ended up sleeping on the couch and recliner in the living room for the rest of the night. You can imagine how wonderful that was!

This picture now shows a repaired ceiling, thanks to our son coming to our rescue with a tall ladder and the proper tools to caulk the hole correctly.  And thankfully we have not seen another ant since! (And we had a good night's sleep last night!)

When I got home from getting my perm yesterday I discovered that my computer screen resolution was messed up, and I have spent the past 24 hours still trying to get it back to where it was before.   It still isn't right, but at least I can see what I'm writing. That's been frustrating, because there didn't seem to be any reason for it, except that I had turned off my computer the night before when we tried to sleep in the living room, and my computer was on but was too bright for us to sleep...and when I turned it back on in the morning it was messed up...so...who knows? Maybe the ants did it!

This morning we took a little ride to get out of the house for a while. (and so I could find something to take a picture of!)  We drove down a forest road that we've never traveled on before, and found it really lovely.  We actually saw a mother bear and two cubs running across the road, but by the time I could get my camera focused they were already in the woods/bushes alongside the road. Here is the picture I got of the mother's hind leg:  (The cubs were in the weeds ahead of her).

These wildflowers were so pretty, I talked hubby into stopping so I could take a few pictures (watching for more bears all the while)  I don't know what they are called, but they resemble snapdragons.

On Thursday morning I had to go for lab work, and then hubby took me to Bob Evans for breakfast afterwards.
It's a good thing the blood work was done before I ate this breakfast!! LOL. I go back to the Dr. next week to get the results...

Next week will be busy. Tuesday morning is our usual Home Bible Study here in our home, and then our "Lovely Ladies of the Lord" will be meeting on Thursday (at a nearby church) for the first time in several months (we didn't meet over the summer).  I've been asked to lead the Bible Study, so I need to get my head and heart in gear for what the Lord wants to say to us.

Then on Saturday I am hosting a bridal shower here at our house for our sweet daughter in law to be, and I've been "stressing" over the table arrangements, food, house cleaning, etc.  My hubby reminded me of the Martha and Mary story this morning...because he heard me talking about all the things I need to get done next week...and that gave me a moment's pause to stop and realize that I need to keep things in perspective...and devote some time just for me and the Lord before I do anything else.

Luke 10:38-42(NKJV)
38. Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. 39. And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. 40. But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.”

41. And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. 42. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

Yes, I know I am guilty of being a "Martha" type more than a "Mary".  I was doing much better when I was able to sit in The Secret Garden every day and deliberately listen and focus on the Lord.  It's been too hot all summer to sit out there, so I've gotten out of the daily routine.  Please pray for me this week that the Lord will be able to speak to me and through me as we gather together to hear from His Word and encourage one another. I need this as much as the others.  (Maybe more).

Thank you, dear friends, for your faithfulness to share such positive things all the time. I am so blessed to have found so many dear friends here in "blogland". I count on you for daily words of hope and encouragement...and always love to see what you've been doing in your part of the world. Thank you for being here!!!

Now, I don't think it's too late to go over to Deb's place and check out what our friends have posted for yesterday's Friday Foto Friends!

  1. Always better late than never!! Great photos, especially the bear's hind leg! Seriously...love it. Your breakfast looks delicious! Your hubby is right. Don't stress over all the details because the details really don't matter. What matters is the love and fun and good wishes for the bride-to-be. The party will be just perfect!! Hugs.

    1. Thank you, Terri. I am trying to stay "cool, calm, and collected" (remember that commercial..."Secret", I think). You are right about what really matters. I need to calm down and just enjoy the ride! Thank you for this reminder.

  2. Pam, I think you're right on time with your post. The last few days have been a bit busy for you. As always, your photos are amazing! What an adventure with the ants. Nothing like not sleeping well to make the next day even more "interesting".

    Blessings!

    1. Thank you Kim. I know God is in control in ALL things...even with the ants marching over our heads. It is amazing how busy we can get when we are "retired"! But I love the activity when it is for a purpose!!

  3. I think your ants left and came here and climbed in my car. When I opened the door yesterday morning, there were ants crawling everywhere. I had to clean out the car, spray it with ant spray and leave the doors open all day. Then I realized I had been parking over several ant hills!!! Yes, have moved the car and wa-la, no more ants. Glad you got your situation repaired as well. Hope the rest of your weekend is nice and calm and enjoyable.

    1. I'm so sorry my ants found your car!! LOL. I do hope yours have all gone away by now. yes, I forgot to say that we DID spray the ant hole in the ceiling after they broke out of the "wall" we had put up. That was the other reason we couldn't sleep in there after that...But all is well now. No sign of them. Hope you are having a peaceful weekend as well.

  4. Bless your heart....I wouldn't have thought a thing about it if you hadn't linked up...well, let me rephrase that...I would have known that you had a lot going on...(because so do I). I'm so glad that you did take the time to link up, though. You're gonna have a hectic week ahead...but I'm glad you got that ant problem taken care of. Doesn't it seem like it's just always something when it comes to taking care of a house? And, at my age, it isn't getting any easier! :'( I shall now quit whining! ;-) Pretty yellow flowers...and the hind leg of the bear...LOL! HOPE you have a great rest of the evening and SONday!

    1. Yes, there is always something regarding caring for a house...and the older we get the less we like do that...but I refuse to move to a condo! LOL. I love nature and the beautiful world God has placed around us...and I am not willing to give that up yet! Ants or not! Thank you for your kind thoughts and positive words...You are always such a blessing to me!! Hope your SONday is blessed!!! We are having rain, which we actually need, so I am thankful!

  5. Thankfully you have a son who could help his ole mom and dad ;-) I just love all the beautiful scenery around where you live. But bears? Yikes, lol. I know they come with rural living. In fact, we even have some here in the city because houses get built into the bear's territory. Little wonder they come and inspect things.

I wish you a wonderful and blessed week ahead and that the Lord would answer the desire of your heart. xx

    1. Yes, we are blessed to have actually 2 sons still here, but one will soon be moving on to his own home with his lovely wife (Nov. 11) Exciting days ahead. We enjoy all that God has blessed us with here...bears included. I was happy to see the two cubs! Yes, this IS their territory...so I don't mind sharing. Have a blessed and beautiful day, and may the Lord direct your steps in all that you do and aspire to do! (Writing that book! :) )

  6. Only you! The ant story reminded me of a certain mountain cabin we stayed in with Cliff and family. Ants were dropping out of the roof above our heads! Awful! I'm glad you got them all caulked out, but you need to find their source! Don't fret over the party--easy for me to say, but I know it will all be perfect no matter what! One step at a time! Breathe, Just breathe---and pray! I'll be praying too! Love you Sis!

    1. Yes, there is always something here to keep us on our toes. I know we need to find the source of the ants, but that's for another day. Gotta get through this week first. Okay, I won't fret. I know you will be here to support me! We are going to have a great time. Something worth celebrating!!! Love ya, Sis!!

  8. Ants!

    Bears legs!

    Yikes. :)

Hey, at least we don't live in the middle ages when they had trouble with fire-breathing dragons, am I right?

The flowers are beautiful. The garden is beautiful. Praying for you to have peace and time to sit in your secret garden and pray even if you are elsewhere. The garden is within...haha...that was supposed to sound profound, but it kind of sounds like someone trying desperately to sound profound. Anyway, praying for blessings for you, Pamela.

Your blog is uplifting! I look forward to your posts.

    1. Thank you Sandi! Yes, thankfully there are no fire-breathing dragons (at least not that I've seen...). LOL. Yes, I understand your comment "the garden is within"...that is profound, and I will think of that this week. God's Holy Spirit is within, and He is like a garden...I just need to remember to "water" my garden within with His Word and Praise!!! I sometimes forget and then I get dry... Thank you for your prayers and words of encouragement. You are always a blessing to me.

  9. You got some good photo's Pam. I will be praying for you, but as you know "God's word will not return unto Him void" so whatever you decide to speak on, someone will need to hear it.

    1. Thank you, Sylvia. You are so right about "God's Word..." and I know He will bless whatever offering I may give in His name. Thank you for reminding me of that. I just feel a little out of practice...but GOD is with me. He has it covered.

  10. Lovely flowers. Wild flowers can often be the prettiest things.
Will pray for you of course!
The ant story was fun, but of course, not fun for you. We have those things happen that we can laugh at later but when they happen they aren't so funny especially when you are very sleepy!
I was woken up by a dripping ceiling once. Had to move my bed and get a bucket.
You will make a beautiful party. I wish I could be there to help out. Many hands make light work.
Take lots of photos of the party for us to see :).
I hope the rest of your weekend is just perfect.

    1. Oh, wouldn't it be "loverly"...if you could be here too? I wouldn't make you work...I'd just be in awe of the joy of having you here!! Thank you for wishing it. Yes, I will take lots of pictures. It is going to be a fun time...I get to meet my new daughter in law's family for the first time and vice versa...so it will be sweet. Oh, to wake up to a dripping ceiling...I think I'll take the ants. That had to have been awful. So glad you "survived" it. Thank you for stopping by and gracing my place here today. I feel honored.

  11. I'll be praying for you, Pamela, that in spite of your busy week ahead, you'll take as much Mary time as you need. Loved the photos, as always, my friend!

    1. Thank you, Martha. Do you live up to your name, "Martha"? I think you are more of a "Mary" type...because you have written such beautiful things that came from the heart of God. Thank you for your prayers this week. That truly comforts me to know so many will be praying. Praise God!!

  12. It's always great seeing your fotos even if it is a little late. So sorry about those ants. Our grandson sat down on his bed the other evening and discovered ants had made their way into his room. Bless his heart. The same thing happened in a different house when he was just a few months old. Hope you have yours taken care of now.
I feel sure your ladies meeting will go well, and so will the shower. I think it's okay to have a little of Mary and Martha in us at the right times.

    1. Thank you Nonnie. I've been a bit busy this week, and also a little under the weather, so I'm kind of behind in my reading and writing. Hope to get caught up soon. The ladies' fellowship for today was cancelled due to others not being able to participate this week either, and so that was probably a blessing in disguise for me. We will try again next week. I'm now in "shower" mode...getting things ready. Thank you for being a sweet friend.

    1. Thank you Annie. I've been busy, and also a little "under the weather"...and just haven't felt like writing or doing much reading either this week. I will try to get something together for Friday this week. Thank you for watching and waiting...I appreciate you so much!
