Today we celebrate our 46th wedding anniversary...my hubby and I. It seems impossible that these two kids:
are now these two "kids":
and that our family grew to be this:
and then, very sadly, we said good-bye to our wonderful #2 son last year...
not very long after this picture was taken of him and his lovely wife and son...following a 4 year battle with cancer.
This morning as I was thinking about our 46 years together, this song written by Andrae' Crouch came to mind. I thought it was a fitting description of our life together, and it should be written to say "We've had many tears and sorrows..." replacing the "I" with "We" throughout the song...
We've had many tears and sorrows
We've had questions for tomorrow
There've been times we didn't know right from wrong;
But in every situation
God gave blessed consolation
That our trials come to only make us strong
We've been a lot of places
(and these aren't anywhere NEAR 1/2 of them!)
And We've seen so many faces,
But there've been times we've felt so all alone;
But in that lonely hour
In that precious, lonely hour
Jesus let us know we were His own.
Through it all
Through it all
We've learned to trust in Jesus
We've learned to trust in God
Through it all
Through it all
We've learned to depend upon His Word.
So we thank God for the mountains
And we thank Him for the valleys
We thank Him for the storms He's brought us through;
Cause if we never had a problem
We wouldn't know that He could solve them
We wouldn't know what faith in God could do.
Through it all
Through it all
We've learned to trust in Jesus
We've learned to trust in God
Through it all
We've learned to depend upon His Word
Yes, we've learned to depend upon His Word
We've learned to depend upon His Word
Thank you, Jesus, for being there for us through it ALL. There are many storms and trials that we've been through that we cannot even begin to talk about here...but Lord, You've been there for us and with us all the way. You've never left our side...and we can only say
Thank You, Lord.
I'm sure there are many here reading this who could say the same for their own lives. Your troubles and trials were not the same as ours, but if you've lived on this earth any length of time, you've had your share. I hope that you have known the strength and comfort of having God with you throughout those difficult days as well as during the joys and triumphs. If you can't honestly say that you know that for a fact, then I implore you to seek His face...ask Him to come and be a part of your life before another day passes. There's only two ways to go through this life: either with God, or without God.
I cannot imagine living this life without His presence in my life every day.
I pray that you will know that peace today as well.
Hope your Anniversary day was a great one, Pamela!
ReplyDeleteLove that song also, it fits so well.

ReplyDeleteThank you Cecilia. We had a wonderful anniversary. God has been so very kind to us. We are very thankful.
DeleteHi Pam! Happiest of Anniversaries to you and your dashing groom! Love the wedding photos, does it seem so long ago? 46 years is a very long time my friend, how God has blessed you.
ReplyDeleteI know you've had much sadness in your life and family, but how beautiful that you are pulling so much grace out of your life too. To see where God has caught you when you fell, and how you and your husband clung to each other in the good and bad... You have been richly blessed. Thank you for sharing your joys and sorrows with us.
Candles and cake!
Ceil
Thank you Ceil! I am just now reading this almost a month later! I need to follow up on these more quickly...I missed such a blessing! But now I am enjoying your kind and sweet words today...and giving thanks to the Lord again for His blessings on us...and for your friendship. Thank you!
DeleteHappy anniversary and you have had many rich experiences, and as you said, the mountains and the valleys. Those of us who know Jesus are blessed.
