Welcome to my "Open Window"...a place of hope, encouragement, and adventure as we journey down the road from "Closed Doors" to the new opportunities God places in our pathway. I hope you will take the time to go back and follow the trail of mixed blessings and fears, failures and triumphs from the past and side-trips in the present. Perhaps it will conjure up some of your own special memories, and be an invitation for you to share with others. I look forward to spending this time with you!

Today is My Oldest Son's 40th Birthday!
What do you do when your oldest son turns 40 and you are only 39? Ha Ha!! You celebrate, of course!!! Everyday is a joy and a blessing worth celebrating! God has been most gracious to us, and we are so blessed to have our son home with us! Happy Birthday Benton!!! We love you!!!
This last video is all about making home-made ice-cream...a "Mursch Family" tradition...but we cheated and used the electric crank. We had to apologize to my Daddy, who I am sure was watching from up in heaven. He would have never let us get away with using an electric crank and would think we were all getting "soft". Yeah, maybe we are, plus it was about 100 degrees out...but the ice-cream still turned out good! Sorry Daddy! Next time we'll do it the old-fashioned way...I promise!

Congrats on the miracle of having a son that is older than you!! Shall I call the newspapers? LOL!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Benton! Wish we could have been there to celebrate with you all! What's up with the electric ice cream maker?? Oh well, still turns out delicious! Love to all!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Grandpa sang "Happy Birthday" along with you, and he's got a beautiful smile on his face because the family is celebrating together! (Up here in NC, we have used the electric ice cream maker many times.)
ReplyDeleteSandy, I am shocked to learn that my brother, and your daddy, Clifford, would allow the use of the electric crank! Not Clifford! He's usually such a die-hard on tradition! (and using our muscles!) Now I don't feel so guilty after all! And yes, I am sure Grandpa and Grandma were BOTH smiling and singing Happy Birthday. We can feel their presence with us whenever we are all together.
