Welcome to my "Open Window"...a place of hope, encouragement, and adventure as we journey down the road from "Closed Doors" to the new opportunities God places in our pathway. I hope you will take the time to go back and follow the trail of mixed blessings and fears, failures and triumphs from the past and side-trips in the present. Perhaps it will conjure up some of your own special memories, and be an invitation for you to share with others. I look forward to spending this time with you!

Beware of the Little Foxes
"Catch us the foxes,
The little foxes that spoil the vines,
For our vines have tender grapes."
Song of Solomon 2:15
Just what ARE the "little foxes that spoil the vines"?
Little words that cut deep...sarcastic remarks that aren't really funny and tend to undermine and cause feelings of inferiority, insecurity, and lack of confidence...
Little fears that create instability, jealousy, wariness...
Little seeds of doubt planted by the enemy of our souls that take root and drive us away from the truth...
Little disruptions to our peace, quiet, calmness of heart...
Little thoughts that seep into our minds and take up residence in our hearts...
Yes, Beware of the Little Foxes that creep up on us when we least expect them
and take up residence...
and steal away our joy.
Most of all...be careful not to become a "little fox" in someone else's life...
Let us watch what we say and what we do
Lest we spoil another's vine
and steal away their joy.
"Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God;
and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God."
I John 4:7
These "little foxes" were "captured" on my night cam in my front yard. They look
pretty harmless...but we must never forget just how sly and devious a "little fox" can be, and be careful not to let them take up residence in our homes. (hearts).

Hi Pamela! Wow!! What amazing photos of the fox...and such a good reflection on how damaging they can be. Didn't Jesus call Pilate "that Fox..."? Even he knew how damaging they can be.
ReplyDeleteOur words can be a joy-stealer, that's for sure. Each person's vine is a precious thing. I need to be respectful of every persons life.
Great reflection!
Ceil
Thank you, Ceil. Yes, our words can be a pernicious joy stealer...and the "little foxes" that sneak in upon our hearts and do us harm can have devastating effects. But also, our words can bring joy back...and wonderful messages of hope and encouragement. And that is why WE are HERE! You do that very nicely, thank you!!! Blessings to you.
DeleteWhat a wonderful example of using the pictures to so perfectly illustrate the idea of "the little foxes that spoil the vine" You are creative!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny, but that verse about the "little foxes" came to me when reading someone else's blog, and I had to look it up right away. Then I remembered all these pictures that have been accumulating on my night cam of this little fox coming and going all hours of the night. God just kind of put it all together. I give Him the credit! Thank you for stopping by today. You are an encouragement to me always.
