It's the first Saturday in October, and I want to give it a big HURRAH!!! It's raining, it's pouring, and most likely the old man and woman are snoring, or will be soon enough! It's a great day for a nap. I love to sleep when it's raining, don't you? Our porch kitties sure do!
You really can't see the raindrops very well in these pictures, but trust me, it's coming on down!
You can see the rain a little better here:
The wind has been gusting and blowing the rain, and still the kitties sleep on in perfect peace.
I think the kitties can sleep through the storm because they know their Creator, the Master of the wind and sea...
Mark 4:35-41 NKJV
35 On the same day, when evening had come, He (Jesus) said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.” 36 Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him.
37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling.
38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”
39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.
40 But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?”
41 And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”
Oh that we could have such perfect peace and trust as these creatures do. Sometimes I believe the creatures are more in tune with their Maker than we humans are...just a thought...what do you think?
A little earlier this morning we took a country ride before the rains started. We were surprised to see this gorgeous creature strutting down the road:
I kept snapping pictures in hopes that he would show off his beautiful tail feathers, but he was in too big of a hurry to get out of the road:
I do believe peacock blue is one of my most favorite colors:
He eventually went on into the woods and back to wherever he lives, but OH! What a lovely sight to see today on this rather dark and cloudy, rainy day! This was definitely a bright spot and a big "HURRAH".
This was the sunrise this morning...another "Hurrah!"
Another "Hurrah" was yesterday when I went to the mailbox and found a package in it addressed to me. It was this beautiful fall top, which is a "belated" birthday gift from my sweet and thoughtful sister in law Peggy. When we were together for my actual birthday, she was wearing a top just like this one, and she told me then that she wanted to get one for me but couldn't find another one in my size. Actually, that was a good thing, because she was thinking I needed a smaller size, and when I told her that I really needed a large, she said she would still try to find one for me, but I really wasn't expecting that she would. Well, here it is!! And I LOVE it! It will be a great addition to my fall wardrobe and I will probably wear it everywhere for the next two months (Oct.-Nov)!
Here's a picture of Peggy wearing her top when we met for lunch on my birthday:
So now if we go anywhere together during the fall months, we will be twins. LOL. What a nice surprise, and another big "Hurrah!"
These Rose of Sharon flowers are really blooming nicely and enjoying the cooler days and nights lately! Hurrah!
Just some pretty goldenrod blooming down by the "pond": Hurrah!
And my sweet kitties last evening came down to enjoy the beautiful evening with me. They stayed right beside me while I walked around looking at flowers and things...and then they raced me back to the steps to see who could get up the steps to the porch the fastest! They won that race for sure, but it was such fun having them being so playful and sweet.
HURRAH!!
Psalm 150:6 NKJV
6 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord!
Hi Pamela, I am glad you got some rain. I like that shirt you got from your sister. I love scarecrows and I have a t-shirt with a scarecrow on it. I love sunflowers and that whole country scenes the shirt. I hope you have a nice weekend!
ReplyDeleteMuch to be thankful for today! I know how you have needed rain and I hope this helps refill Still Waters Pond. We are still in a drought here and the sun is shining, but it's a beautiful day and maybe rain will come to us next week.
ReplyDeleteThe peacock is so beautiful and how interesting to see it in the wild.
I love the shirt!
What a joyful post — it made me smile all the way through! 💛 I love how you find little “hurrahs” in the ordinary moments — from the rain and the cats to that surprise gift and the peacock’s flash of blue. Yes I like thta color too🍂
ReplyDeleteOh how I love that shirt you got. It just says Fall all over the place. Isn't it fun to discover something in the mailbox besides bills and junk mail???
ReplyDeleteA Big Fat YAY!!!
Rain, blessed rain. I'm so happy to see that you are finally getting a pond filler.
Love the Strutting Peacock too. Those colors are wonderful.
Stay Cozy
Sue
I love happy mail. I love to nap when it rains too.

Hooray for the rain!!! I hope you get more and more, Pamela, until the pond is back to its normal depth. I love the blouse that Peggy sent you for your birthday - it's attractive on both of you. Oh, and the peacock - breathtaking colors! I haven't seen one of those birds in ages, but I'll never forget how gorgeous they were. Rain is a great time for a nap, too, so I hope you were able to get one today if you so chose. Blessings for a great Sunday!
ReplyDeleteThe rains have been very welcome! The new shirt is very pretty! (it goes nicely with your smile!)
ReplyDeleteHoo-rah for that lovely rain! What a sweet surprise, seeing that "care" package from Peggy. You're absolutely glowing in that photo.
ReplyDeleteGosh, I never thought about it, but yes. I believe the (not so) lowly creatures among us are more in tune, trusting our Lord. Why else wouldn't they be rejoicing in every new day and not worrying about medical test results or tomorrow's weather forecast. Thank you for that!
Hi Pamela. That blouse is beautiful! What a lovely and thoughtful birthday gift! Looks like you had quite a rain storm. We have had a rainy day here too. Enjoy the rest of the weekend. See you again soon!
ReplyDeleteAnother great post, my friend...and as for your question on my blog...yes, my "aunt and uncle" other home (her family home) is somewhere in the Ocala National Forest. I rightly can't remember where. All I remember is, it's a rambling shack that leaks, and they had buckets to keep the water off the floor, grin. According to my uncle, it still is, LOL. My mother really doesn't get along with my "aunt", never has never will. I spent many happy days with my "aunt" and was her daughter in many ways. I even had my own room. Funny thing is, they act more like a parent than mine do, sad...really. sigh --my "uncle" and dad- their families have been friends for well over 100 yrs.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos and so glad you got some needed rain! The new blouse is so pretty. Wear it in good health my friend. I've always said the birds sing praises to God during the 3 times in a day of the old temple service.. shacharit, mincha and maariv. And so many verses talk of all creation praising Him. Makes me happy to hear them.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the scripture you shared from Mark 4, I’ve been pondering that of late, thinking about how undisturbed Jesus was while the disciples were very upset. I am comforted to be reminded any problem I face is not a threat to my Lord.
ReplyDeleteHow special to see a peacock on your country road trip!
The new fall top is lovely! The colors of it go well with your skin tones, and it surely looks perfect with your autumn decor!
I love seeing your kitties sleeping and playing and wandering with you. wow on a peacock viewing. I have only seen them in captivity. my grandfather had a restaurant and motel in Calahan, not far from you, back in the 40's and 50's and he had a lot of peacocks running around the acres. you are blending with you decor, no one will be able to find you. ha ha
ReplyDeleteLove the fall shirt and the kitties. Rain, something that we still haven’t seen. Maybe today but it seems to be all around us. That peacock just wouldn’t cooperate.
