Quick Monday Night Post

Believe it or not, that's the moon out over Still Waters Pond, but the reflection is of the wall behind me in my "room with a view" when I took this picture looking out the window.

And this was the sunrise yesterday morning...It's been very cool in the 40's in the morning and warming up into the 70's in the afternoon. Perfect weather, if one felt good enough to go outside and enjoy it.

Dear Friends, this will be quick, I promise. Tis the Monday before Christmas (on Thursday), and all through the house there are boxes of kleenex and trash cans filled with used tissues and blankets on chairs and me, sick with a very bad cold!!!  It hit me hard during the night Saturday night/early Sunday morning, with a very bad sore throat. Of course, our cantata was scheduled that morning at 10:00 and it was obvious I wasn't going anywhere!!! I had to notify our choir director that she would be down to just one alto.

And the recording we made at our rehearsal last Tuesday night wasn't very good she said, so they ended up recording it again live at the service, so I am not there...but you will hear a sweet baby crying right on cue when they are talking about the Baby Jesus! That was an added bonus not planned!... There was also a cell phone going off at one point, but thankfully the forgetful person discovered it quickly and silenced it.  That's why we normally record at rehearsals when there is no one else there in the audience, but still, it ended up beautiful and I am sure the people were blessed. I am told it was a full house.

Come Let Us Adore is the title, and you might recognize as few of the songs from some that I posted in a some of my earlier posts recently.

Anyway, I am laid up for the count...sneezing, runny nose, sore throat, aches and chills.  If I am not considerably better tomorrow I may see if I can get into the doctor before the holiday. On top of that, I lost a small filling from a tooth the other evening, and so I've contacted the dentist and they will see me Wednesday morning IF I am feeling well enough.  I may have to wait until after Christmas. Thankfully it isn't hurting or sensitive to hot or cold. It was such a small and old filling...but I do feel a jagged edge and so if I'm not careful I will have a sore tongue.

My bowl of beef vegetable soup that I created using a can of Campbell's Beef , Vegetable and Barley soup and a can of Mixed Vegetables.  It makes a very nice quick hot soup when you are too miserable to cut and peel potatoes and carrots and make homemade soup.

And here's some funny pictures...that silly Muscovy Duck is still hanging around, and here he was the other night drinking water from the bird bath...

And here's Blackie, our noble "guard kitty" sleeping in his chair and not paying the duck a bit of attention!  The duck ended up knocking the bird bath over and hubby had to go out and fix it the next morning.  It's never a dull moment.

I just noticed the reflection of hubby's bare feet in the window...we were both standing there watching the duck and I didn't realize his feet were in the picture. Seems like I've been getting a lot of pictures of his feet lately. LOL.

It makes me think about the feet that Isaiah mentioned in Isaiah 52:7, and again that was quoted by Paul in Romans 10:15...

Isaiah 52:7
7  How beautiful upon the mountains
Are the feet of him who brings good news,
Who proclaims peace,
Who brings glad tidings of good things,
Who proclaims salvation,
Who says to Zion,
“Your God reigns!”

Romans 10:15
And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!”

Years ago my hubby was called into the ministry and together God took our feet and led us to many wonderful places to proclaim the Good News, i.e., the Gospel of peace and salvation to many people. I am thankful that we said "yes" to the call of God to follow Him wherever He led us, and that we had a small part in this proclaiming the Good News of salvation. Now we are retired and not doing so much "proclaiming" as before, but in a small way I hope this blog is a way to still share the Good News, both now at Christmas and beyond.

Wishing you and yours a very blessed and beautiful Christmas and the Happiest of New Years. Good Night. Time for my nightly cold medicine and off to bed.

  1. I'm so sorry you're sick! We also had that cold and sore throat a few weeks ago. Hope you're better soon. The Cantata is lovely! My husband and I sing on the Praise Team at church, but we have a candlelight service on Christmas Eve night. Our special song is going to be Phil Wickham's "Worth the Wait". I'm looking forward to it!

  2. I am so sorry you are so sick, dear friend!! What a shame to miss singing in the contata. I know they missed your voice, but the video was well done, even with the little disruptions from the congregation. Please continue to take care of yourself!! Let us know how you are doing. Sending prayers and love your way. xo

  3. Too funny how lately you keep getting your husbands feet in your photos. I honestly hadn't noticed till you mentioned it. Gosh, so sorry you're sick. I hope you're feeling better soon. That must have been very hard for you to have to sit out from the Cantana. I know how much you wanted to sing - come hell or high water! Boy that's a saying you don't hear anymore - probably because of all the high waters we've had made me think of it. Sorry about your tooth, too. Amazing your dentist can see you on Christmas Eve day. Around here, most Doctors and Dentists have already closed up shop.
Well, get rest, eat soup and drink plenty of fluids! Get well soon.

  4. Pam: So sorry you are down with yet another cold. The hospitals in Indy are restricting visitors. Our two hospitals here are affiliated with two down there. I guess the local hospitals will follow suit. Blessings to you and yours. And Merry Christmas.

  6. I pray that you get to feeling better, Pamela. I am home, the bossman sent me home, I have laryngitis, sigh...no fever, just can't talk. Anyways, he sent me home with explicit instructions to not return until Monday. Wishing you a lovely day, eat more soup, stay warm and inside. smiles

  8. So very sorry you are sick, it might be the flu, our local TV was saying this week that flu is everywhere here and to stay away from crowds. I hope you will feel better by Christmas day. I told Bob we did not have to worry about colds an flu because we don't go out and then I remembered the people who bring our packages and groceries from Amazon and Walmart could be sick and delivering germs. Hope you can have a Merry Christmas, and sorry you missed the cantata. Blackie looks happy on his warm cushion you bought him. Ducks Need Love Too. ho ho ho...our dogs turned out bird bath over and broke it into 3 large pieces.

    2. Hopefully the delivery people are keeping their germs to themselves. They don't need to be delivering those! So nice you have that service! What a blessing! If you want to love on a duck, please come get this one! Sometimes there are two or three. They want to eat Blackie's food, and he just sits there and lets them do it. You should see my hubby going after them! Boy can they fly! But they come right back as soon as we come back inside. Believe me, they aren't starving. THey have plenty of food and there are other lakes that are full around here where they could go. I am so afraid they are going to nest here and then there will be a dozen little ducks running around pooping all over the place...yeah! LOL.

  10. I do hope you feel better after a good long rest! The Type A Flu starts out just the way you have described it! (grandson just got over it but it took him over two weeks to feel better!).

  11. Awww ... Pam I am so sorry you got a bad cold on top of your pneumonia. Please take care of your self and don't overdo. Its too bad you couldn't sing in the cantata but that's the way it is this time of year.
Sweet about the baby crying at the perfect time.
Hugs and take your meds and drink plenty of hot tea.
    Praying for you
    Love you

  12. Hi Pamela , I am so sorry you are sick with the flu. We were at the emergency for our son on Sunday and a spokesman came out and said all emergency rooms were filled. I wrote about it at my blog. Soup is always good when you are sick. Sorry you missed church. We have a big rain storm coming in and we might not make it to Christmas Eve service. Have a Merry Christmas!

  13. Oh, Pam... I'm sorry you weren't able to sing in the cantata. I plan to listen to it as I finish wrapping Christmas presents on New Years Eve. :) I hope you're feeling some better by now, and I hope you have a Merry Christmas.

  15. I'm so sorry you weren't able to join with your church sisters in song! Your voice will be missed, but more importantly, we all want you well once more. There's something mighty wicked in the air these days-- walk-in clinics and the ER's are full. Makes a body want to crawl under the covers and stay there. Maybe Blackie will join you for a little while tonight? Wherever you elect to observe this Holy night, I hope your body's warm and your thoughts joyful.

  18. Pam, I've been behind in keeping up with blog posts for weeks now. It's Christmas Day as I make this comment, some 3 days after you wrote this. I sincerely hope you're feeling remarkably better by now. May your Christmas be pleasant, even if "merry" requires more energy than you've got.

  19. Very interesting photos! Quite a lot of mirroring.
And eh...sorry I infected you through internet!! It sounds you have something very much like I am dealing with. Hopefully your lungs stay clear.
I am so very sorry you have missed the christmas singing. You were so looking forward to it. But getting better is now important. So best wishes for getting well soon.

So this year will be a different christmas. Hope it's good anyway.

    Merry Christmas!
