Happy Monday Morning! I hope you've had a blessed and peaceful, restful weekend, and are ready to enjoy this last week of August and "summer" as we know it. Next weekend is Labor Day weekend, so that pretty much signals the end of summer and even though true autumn doesn't begin for a few more weeks, I think we are all pretty much ready for it to begin the day after Labor Day! I know I would love to think that the summer heat will be over and we will be starting to enjoy cooler days...but here in Florida that really doesn't happen for at least another month. Still we can dream...
Meanwhile, still thinking about August...our extended family here in Florida has a lot of August birthdays and anniversaries to celebrate, and so we did just that on Saturday. Not everyone could make it due to work schedules, etc., but for those of us who could gather, we had a great time, as you can see below.
So we have family from both sides of the aisle, my hubby's family, and my family, and we all love each other and get along great. We are blessed to be close enough to enjoy these special events together.
Yay! He did it!! I hope he made a good wish! LOL.
We teased him that next year he will be eligible for the senior discounts every where! LOL. But again...I still don't know how he got to be that old already!! It seems like just yesterday he was a new born 9lb. 13 oz. bouncing baby boy!
I just want to pause and thank the Lord for the blessings of family and friends. We've all been through difficulties in life. No one escapes troubles and trials. But even so, we have so much for which to be thankful. Even when things have looked bleak and impossible, God has made a way. He has never failed us nor forsaken us. So, at this moment in time, I want to say how thankful I am for all that God has done for me and for our loved ones, and for His unfailing grace. And I look at the final verse here below..."For the Lord is good; His mercy endures forever, and His faithfulness to all generations."
I hope you have a blessed and wonderful rest of your week! May you know that the Lord IS good, and that His mercy endures forever, and that His faithfulness also endures for all generations..."
Post UPDATE: Public Service Announcement: To the "UNKNOWN" commenter who left a less than complimentary comment on this post earlier, I have removed your comment because it was not considered kind or uplifting or appropriate. There are certain "unwritten" rules that we bloggers abide by, and they are good rules that are based on kindness and consideration of one another. The number one rule is one that most of us learned in childhood and should also be abiding by as adults:
- If you can't say something nice, it's better to not say anything at all.
- If you wish to leave a comment, it is common courtesy to also identify yourself. Anonymous or unknown comments will be deleted unless the commenter identifies himself at some point. I do understand that sometimes we become "anonymous" if we are using our iPhone or other method of communication that Blogger can't identify. We should always try to find a way to identify ourselves when that happens.
- This blog is my personal "property" when it comes to what is considered appropriate or not suitable for print. If I do not feel that a comment is in good taste or that it could cause harm or embarrassment to someone else, I reserve the right to remove such comments without notice or apology to the commenter.
- I also will delete comments from those I perceive to be spammers or promoting their own personal products in my space, or if I discover upon checking your website or blogspace that I am not comfortable with such content that you are promoting, I reserve the right to delete any links posted to my posts or comments.
- Also, all photographs contained in my blogs, unless they are identified or credited to others, are my personal property and are not open to be copied by others without my permission.
Looks like wonderful celebrations. I know all about cutting carbs.
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday.

Thank you, Regine! Those old carbs are sneaky ones!!
DeletePrecious gatherings - both near and far loved ones!
ReplyDeleteYes, we are very thankful indeed.
Deletegreat family time and the family pictures are so good. Like you, I have one family member who never wants to show his face. I told him one day that later in life, his kiddos are going to say "Dad, why were you not ever in Shug's pictures?" lol.
ReplyDeleteI know, some kids are just funny that way! It's kind of become a game we play everytime we get together. It's okay, he's a great "kid", and we are just so proud of his accomplishments.
DeleteOh yes ... God is so good and His mercies endure for ever.
ReplyDeleteI love the family photos and how blessed you are to have them close to you. Fun and good food is always a winner in my book.
(((hugs)))
Sue
Thank you! Yes, I agree with you on the fun and good food and family!!
DeleteYou had a lovely weekend! Glad you could be with both close and extended family. Happy Birthday to Benton! And yes, God is so good.
ReplyDeleteThank you, and Amen!!
DeleteBenton's birthday food is my favorite meal, all of it.. everyone looks super good and happy.. bob got his boot off today, we went to orthopedic doc and he can now start working on trying to walk... and the floods are scheduled for this afternoon, like the all day floods of yesterday woo hoo and our heat will not stop until November. phoeey
ReplyDeleteHooray for Bob!! That's great news! praying all goes well for him. Also pray you don't get any real floods!!!
DeleteOh, my goodness that looked like fun. My one grandson does not like his photo taken either. I like vanilla cake with chocolate icing too. Love your bible verse - if you haven't found something somewhere to be grateful for - there is a big problem!
ReplyDeleteAmen!! Thank you!
DeleteOh, wow, Pamela, such fantastic celebrations all weekend long! I so enjoyed the photos you shared with us here. Your happy faces always make me smile, too. However, it saddens me to hear about your encounter with Anonymous. I agree with you that there is an unspoken rule about kindness and caring in Blogland. We are here to uplift, not put down. My Tuesday post actually highlights how much all of you mean to me and the special friendships we've made through blogging. That's how it should be. Blessings and Happy Birthday, Benton!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Martha! I love how you are always very thoughtful and encouraging in your posts and comments. I look forward to reading your post today...so I'm heading over there next! Have a lovely day my friend.
DeleteBirthdays are absolutely to be celebrated and celebrated well. You and yours are experts at doing just that! Always fun, Pam, and I'm glad you are feeling so much better (hubby too)!! Good for you, making those dietary changes. It works!! xo
ReplyDeleteThank you, Terri. I know you are a kindred spirit when it comes to celebrating birthdays and events! I would love to have you nearby to join our festivities! And yes, I am TRYING to make some changes in diet, but it sure is hard when it seems there are more carbs out there than anything else. I'm working on it!! I hope you have a lovely trip! Can't wait to hear about it.
DeleteBeautiful lady....I am sorry you had a rude comment.
ReplyDeleteOn a different note, looks like such a wonderful time of fellowship and life celebrating.
Thank you, Chrissy. Sometimes people just can't seem to contain themselves. I believe Facebook has made it too easy for people to be unkind to one another, but we don't have to put up with it here. Thank you for your kind words. We did have a great time!
DeleteHappy Birthday, Benton!!! Oh Pam, I feel so fortunate to be included in your family celebrations ... even from afar. Through your blog I really feel I know (most of) them. I'm so glad you've chosen to take the high road and call out that mean-spirited blogger.
ReplyDeleteYou would be VERY welcome at our family celebration table! Anytime! Come on down!! Thank you...
DeleteHappy Birthday Benton!!! 🎂 Beautiful photos and lovely smiles. I learned Psalm 100 when I was teenager and at that time attended a Presbyterian church. I still know it by heart, it is one of my favourite Scripture verses.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda. I remember learning Psalm 100 in elementary school, and it seems like we recited it for a Thanksgiving program! That was a LONG time ago!! Sadly, they'd never do that in public school today. And yes, it is still one of my favorites too!
DeleteBeautiful celebration pictures here. You have a wonderful family.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry there was an unpleasant commenter. You handled it well.
Thank you, Barbara. We are thankful and blessed. And I tried to be as "kind" as I could be, but some things just cannot be tolerated. This is our "happy place", and I hope to keep it that way!!
DeleteIt sounds like you had a very big weekend. So happy that you can still do these things. I am sorry that someone was RUDE to you via the comments. Be Blessed.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cecelia. I have missed you! Did you ever start a new blog? I haven't been able to find it. I hope you are doing well. Thank you for visiting today. (((hugs)))
DeleteMy new blog is called, "Still Following My King" here on blogger. Here is the link: https://stillfollowingmyking.blogspot.com/
DeleteI finally found it and realized I had missed quite a bit. Thank you for sharing it again. Back when you first changed it I tried and couldn't find it so I didn't know what to do. Thank you. I've missed you.
DeleteThinking of you friend.
ReplyDeletersrue.blogspot.com
Thank you, Regine. You are such a blessing to us.
DeleteFirst, Pam, congrats to all the celebrants gathered for the celebrations. Getting together sith family whenever possible is wonderful. second, well done on posting about courtesy and consideration in blogging and comments. I completely agree with everything you posted here and have done the same in deleting comments. Also, I repeat each and every phishing or spam to blogger. Yes, it has cut down on repeat offenders. And, it is unfortunate that some people have to be reminded to play nice.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. And I just responded to your other comment down below. I'm not sure I know how to report the spammers to blogger. I delete them, or call them spam, but does that report them? I'll have to look at that more closely next time. Thank you.
DeletePam, I am not sure if calling comments spam before deleting them completely works. In an earlier March post called Spam-a-Lot, I explained how I reported spam comments to blogger and gave examples of the process. It has cut down on repeat offenders and I do it all the time as routine now because I get so annoyed at these folks.
DeleteHappy Belated Birthday to Benton! My oldest son is now eligible for AARP so I understand your feelings.
ReplyDeleteSo sad that some people feel the need to be rude and mean when commenting on a blog. I suppose they think that if they do it "anonymously" then it doesn't count.
I'm so happy and relieved to have you home from your medical issues. I'm so sorry that I was being scarce here and didn't even know until near the end of the situation. I'm praying for you.
We're having what Tennesseans call "fake fall" right now but I'll take it. I'm ready to get summer over with!
Thank you, Melanie! Yes, it doesn't seem possible that our children could be that old when we are still so young! LOL. But it happens! And yes, rudeness happens too. Sometimes I think people just say what they are thinking without thinking how it will look to everyone else. I have to guard my own tongue and thoughts too and try so hard to be sure what I say doesn't come across as being critical. This is a happy place and we need to encourage and uplift one another as much as possible. Obviously we may not always agree with everything everyone says and does, but still we can be kind...and we shouldn't hide behind the "unknown", "Anonymous" title and think no one will care. Our words do matter. People matter. Even people we may not know personally...they still matter.
DeleteThank you for your prayers. I am doing much better and am so thankful it wasn't a real heart attack. It was scary enough as it was, so I hope I never have the real thing if that wasn't it! OH, "fake fall"! I love any kind of fall and will take it anytime I can get it. We haven't seen any sign of it yet here in the deep south, but we rejoice over every degree that drops down a notch. Yes, I am quite ready for summer to be over with as well. Enjoy those cool days for me. Thank you!!!
Hi again, Pam, forgot to ask if you would mind if sometime in a future posts, I mentioned some of your "guidelines" as far as common blog courtesy. We are a friendly and welcoming community overall, but then there are those who just do not play well with anyone.
ReplyDeleteBy all means, please do share them, and add your own thoughts and insights as well. This doesn't happen often, except for the few spammers that come through peddling their "wares", but sometimess people put their mouth in motion before they put their brain in gear, and I have been guilty of that in the past and try to stop and ask myself before posting if it is kind or helpful or encouraging to say what I am about to say. If it is only going to be something critical without anything positive or helpful, then it's probably best to stay quiet. And then I know that sometimes we might be on our phones and it is hard to log in and leave our names so it becomes "unknown" or "anonymous". I try to remember to identify myself in the comment if I am thinking before posting, but sometimes I've had to go back and add a P.S. comment to identify who I am. It happens to all of us. But to leave a critical comment without any thoughtful or kind words and also not identify oneself is just not acceptable in my opinion. I think most of us abide by these guidelines already. It's usually the ones that don't even have a blog who tend to be more critical...at least that has been my experience. This is not facebook or other social media where people just tend to say whatever they want and not worry about the consequences of any remonstrance. That's why I don't do nearly as much on Facebook as I used to. It can be a very brutal world out there! Thank you for your thoughtful words and posts always. Have a blessed day my friend in NH!
DeleteThanks, Pam, and I plan to do a future post on spam (again) and will include some of your comments with attribution of course. As noted in a previous comment, I have started to always report Spam and it takes only a short time and has cut down. As for rude and offensive comments, thankfully I have not received many. I also delete comments from some people who are considered social influencers as noted on their own blogs. And, thank you for your often detailed comments on some of my posts. I try to visit everyone’s blogs at least weekly, but when travels and life intervene it can be harder. Other social media, like facebook, are not used or read.
ReplyDeleteHave you seen this low carb blog?

I don't know how anyone could find something negative about your great blog. Your post are always a blessing to me. I guess it's just the world we live in, but this lady doesn't like it.
