Welcome to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4... are you ready for Autumn?

Sunday September 22 is the Autumnal Equinox, the first day of the Autumn season. Let's talk about it okay?



1. Are there pumpkins or chrysanthemums on your porch or are you planning on putting some out?
Not any pumpkins or mums yet, but there will be eventually. It's still so hot that I'm afraid a pumpkin this early would rot too soon, so I may wait a week or two.  Same with the mums, it is so dry right now, they wouldn't do well. However, we are expecting a possible hurricane this Thursday or Friday, so it's best not to put anything outside until that is over with. Praying it won't be anything too serious this time. 

This picture is from October of 2020.  Those mums are all long gone away, so I need to see where I can find some nice ones again.

2. What seasonal changes are you noticing in your part of the world? What would you add or take away?

I shared some pictures on Saturday HERE that showed a few leaves that have changed already. Seasonal changes are very slow to appear here in north central Florida.  I am noticing that the maple trees are starting to change, but we don't have the real showy ones here like you do up north.  Also the holly berries are getting a brighter red each day.  Our temperatures are a little cooler each morning, but it's still getting too hot in the afternoon to be very pleasant.  Although I must say we've been having some nice breezes and lower humidity lately.  Once this hurricane gets past us things should start getting better.


3. Is pumpkin pie on the menu for you this fall? How about pumpkin spice or pumpkin latte coffee flavors? Are you a fan? Spiced teas? What do you like?

Now that you mention it, I do have some Pumpkin Spice tea sitting here in my kitchen right now!  I haven't had a cup lately because I've been too hot to drink it, but I will be trying it soon.  And yes, I do intend to make pumpkin pies during the fall season, and also probably will make an apple pie sometime too when I get some fresh good apples.

Oh, our new little church has a pumpkin patch ready for the kiddos!! 'Tis the Season!

4. If there was a free week long tour of New England, complete with peak colors and a trip to Plimouth, Massachusetts (the colony site with historical players), would you come along? If that doesn't suit, where would you like to go for your Autumn trip?

I would love that, especially if I could go on up into New Hampshire and Maine while in the area.  There are so many beautiful places in New England to see in the fall, but none as beautiful as seeing my grandson again and being able to maybe go with him to the Fryeburg Fair in Fryeburg, Maine, like we used to always do for his birthday in October when he was a little boy.  HERE is a link to a post about some of my favorite Fall memories.

But since we aren't able to do that this year (because our grandson said he was planning a trip during that time with his mother to go out west), we are going to be going to the north Georgia mountains for a few days in late October with our kids and also my brother in law and his wife. We are going to rent a cabin that has three levels with master suites so we each have our own private bedroom and bath, but we will be able to share the beautiful cabin style house and do some sight seeing and hopefully get some fresh apples.   So we are really looking forward to that!  Hopefully the weather will be cool enough for a fire in the firepit and also to make some s'mores. That will make me happy!!
