Psalm 113:1-9
"1 Praise the Lord!
Praise, O servants of the Lord,
Praise the name of the Lord!
2 Blessed be the name of the Lord
From this time forth and forevermore!
3 From the rising of the sun to its going down
The Lord’s name is to be praised.
The 'Still Very Dry Still Waters Pond" early yesterday morning after a couple of rainy evenings. No puddles on top yet, but that big old sponge is soaking up the water and someday it will have to spill over. Keep Praying! More rain is on the way, so they say... (I wrote that earlier today, before the rains got here around 4:30 p.m.)
4 The Lord is high above all nations,
His glory above the heavens.
5 Who is like the Lord our God,
Who dwells on high,
6 Who humbles Himself to behold
The things that are in the heavens and in the earth?"
Yesterday morning's sunrise...
And last evening's full moon...

It was playing Peek-a Boo with the clouds...
This
Gopher Tortoise was also playing Peek a Boo with us as we saw him on the road back in the woods where we had decided to take a long ride...
7 He raises the poor out of the dust,
And lifts the needy out of the ash heap,
8 That He may seat him with princes—
With the princes of His people.
9 He grants the barren woman a home,
Like a joyful mother of children.
Praise the Lord!"
Blackie seems to also fit that description above..."He raises the poor out of the dust and lifts the needy out of the ash heap, that He may seat him with "princes..." Well, close enough! Blackie certainly has come up in the world a great deal since his lowly beginnings...however, he thinks he's really the "king" around here...He's helping Daddy with his computer work...LOL.
I have been working on this post off and on all day long. Had little interruptions throughout the day, and just couldn't sit still long enough to get it posted. Now, this evening here's what's been happening...
Mr. Ruby Throated Hummingbird flew in to get a drink and rest a spell while he waited for the rain to go away...
And after the rain...a Rainbow!!! Praise God!! What a perfect ending to a lovely day! (Although the rain isn't really over yet...just a little lull in the storm)

Oh....BTW: Happy Last Friday of May! Wow! That sure went by fast, didn't it? Hard to believe next week starts the month of June already! The kids are out of school here in our area, and graduations and awards ceremonies have been going on all week long. Whew! Congratulations to all those who have graduated and received awards. And best wishes to all those who made it through the year and maybe didn't get any awards, but you made it! You survived and hopefully will be moving up to a new level in the fall...new beginnings and opportunities. I do remember those days quite well. I was always happy to see the last day of school, and believe it or not, I was always happy to see the first day of school in September! Summers were fun when I was a kid...lots of opportunities for swimming, camping, and traveling north to visit relatives. But they were also hot and sometimes boring when I couldn't see my friends all that often. So I was always happy when school started back and we could all be together again.
I know this post seems kind of disjointed...Like I said, I've started and stopped working on it all day...that paragraph above was originally going to be the first paragraph, but I got distracted by the weather and beauty outside...so just bear with me...this is the way it is around here some days! (most days!)
Yesterday the Blue Jays flew in to disturb the Bluebirds! The Bluebirds are now feeding their 2nd brood of babies in the nest it seems...and their youngsters from the first batch are still hanging around in the trees and sometimes show up wanting some help from the parents with food...but anyway, there were several Blue Jays who flew in and starting taunting the Bluebirds, and the Bluebird parents were all over those Blue Jays, chasing them away. I tried to get some decent photos, but there was too much action and I couldn't really keep up. So here's what I did manage to get:
The male bluebird is on the left side, and the Blue Jay is on the right (above)
The male bluebird is on the top branch on the right, and the Blue Jay is on the branch below him, close to the tree trunk.
This is the Blue Jay. I think the BlueBird was somewhere around standing guard over the birdhouse where the babies are.
Meanwhile, the Ruby Throated Humminbird was flying back and forth to their hummingbird feeder, and looking at the Blue Birds and Blue Jays as if to say, "Can't you blue guys behave yourselves?" Of course, if you've ever seen hummingbirds in a territorial dispute, you know they can be even more feisty than the Blue Birds and Blue Jays! LOL. There's never a dull moment here in Pamela's Wild Kingdom! LOL.
I am so very thankful for the rains we have finally been having! It appears that the drought is finally over in our area. Now it's just a matter of time before the pond will be filling up again, little by little. This gives me great joy and hope for so many things...
Let's close with these words from Psalm 96...
Psalm 96:11-13
"11 Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad;
let the sea resound, and all that is in it.
12 Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them;
let all the trees of the forest sing for joy.
13 Let all creation rejoice before the Lord, for He comes,
He comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness
and the peoples in his faithfulness."
Good Night Friends! Have a blessed weekend.
We had a bluebird in our back yard yesterday and I was telling Bob about your bluebirds. We're kind of jealous! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm ever so happy to see that pouring rain. I hope the pond fills and overflows.
I love the verse you applied to Blackie. It fits - and it fits us too, for all that God has done for us.
Do you have a birdhouse for the Bluebirds? If you've seen one in the yard, they are around, and if you put up a house facing in the right direction (check out the Audobon Society information for bluebird houses) you may be surprised to see them come and build a nest. It does make for some wonderful entertainment!
DeleteI am anxious for your little pond to fill up, too!! Keep us posted. We are getting rain down here all weekend - Praise God! I enjoyed your photos and catching up with you here!! Happy weekend! xo
ReplyDeleteIt seems that central and south Florida are getting more rain than we are, but we are very thankful for whatever we can get, especially if we can get it without having a hurricane! Hope you have a lovely weekend too!!
DeleteHooray for the rain!!! Yes, birds can certainly be territorial, especially during nesting season, but you sure did get some great photos of the "blue guys" and the hummingbird, Pamela. My visits here will be infrequent next week due to the kids coming. They should arrive around midday today! Blessings!
ReplyDeleteI am SO excited for you to have your family arriving today!! I can almost hear the chatter of those three girls, all trying to tell you their stories first! I wish you could record every moment of it. I do hope you are taking lots of pictures. I'm SO happy for you. Cherish every moment.
DeleteI got a notice on my phone early yesterday evening that it will start thunder storming, it got really dark and then, nothing. Sigh...but yet, my parents who are 5 miles east got a humdinger of a storm, sigh. Crazy, but that's Central Florida. Wishing you a beautiful day, Pamela. smiles
ReplyDeleteYep...the rains play hopscotch all across the land...jumping on some and skipping others right next to it...No real rhyme or reason. But thankfully they are finally landing on us!!! Take care and enjoy your weekend. I know you are.
DeleteI am thinking of doing a Happy dance for that beautiful rain you have here, we had 3 quick showers one each day and the total rain from those was less than a half inch total that tells how quick they were. at least it watered the plants a little. the best photo of the day is the Mister and HIS cat Blackie. Ha Ha Ha on no cats allowed in the house. Love it.. I almost would let the ducks in the house. your outdoors looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteLOL...yes, the Mister and HIS cat Blackie...I actually caught him waving at Blackie on the back porch through the window this morning...okay...that was unexpected! LOL. Re: the ducks in the house...I wouldn't do that unless you can put diapers on them...or train them to use a litter box! Duck poop is no fun thing to clean up! LOL.
DeleteThe rains are most welcome! Love the pic of the King and his servant! lol
ReplyDeleteLOL! I think you got that right!!!!!
DeleteSo good to see the rain falling, hope you get enough to fill the pond!! King Blackie looks very comfortable helping John at the computer. Hope you have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteYes, "King Blackie" knows how to worm his way into the coziest spots...He's really quite the little schemer. But we have fun and are thankful. Hope you are having a great weekend too.
DeleteDo you think it will take the full hurricane season for the pond to fill up? I know in our past droughts it took an accumulation of back to back of good rainy seasons and snow melt to refill those big lakes and reservoir. We've been good for five years now, with more than enough rain, at least in my part of California which is in a watershed.
ReplyDeleteJust think of all that nice fresh water that will fill up your pond and all the new life it will bring! Do Alligators search for new bodies of water? Would they ever populate your pond? That would sure be interesting.
Always love to see Blackie! He is definitely an endearing chap, isn't he?
Thank you, Debby. Re: the alligators...I think our pond is too shallow for them to survive, but they are around in the bigger lakes. I sincerely hope they never discover our pond. I would definitely have to call the fish and wildlife department to come relocate him if he did. It really is too small for them to really be able to exist here (at least I hope so). And yes, Blackie is quite endearing...if he can worm his way into my hubby's heart, then he's pretty smart. I caught my hubby actually waving at him (through the window) on the back porch this morning...hmmmmm, okay...I don't think even I have done that (yet). LOL.
DeleteI am thrilled that the rains are visiting you and that the pond will live up to its name of the Still Water Pond.
ReplyDeleteLove the antics of the Jay and Blue Bird too. We never saw any babies from our Blue Jays this time. I guess they just moved on.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and Happy beginning of June on Monday.. I agree, Where did May go????
Sue
Thank you, Sue. We are enjoying more rain as I speak. So very very thankful!!! I hope you are enjoying a peaceful weekend and that your hubby is feeling better...and I hope others are still helping you with that yard work. Praying for that. Yes, happy beginning of June on Monday...May just slipped on away...
DeleteYour pond is looking like a pond again!!--- so happy to see that. Don't know why but Bluejays seem to hate bluebirds!? Our little bluebird family here has been busy bringing food to the babies, love to porch sit and watch them. Lots of rain here too, all our seeds are up and the rain is so good for them! The watermelon ,sunflower 🌻 , and marigolds we planted recently came up. Maters and peppers doing great so far. Merry weekend and hugs to Blackie too!
ReplyDeleteYes, we've had some rain here, too, and would love to have more!
ReplyDeleteYour photos of the Bluebirds and Blue Jays are excellent. Such pretty colors!
Glad to read and see that you did get some much welcomed rain, Pam. We had a day of rain here in NH as well and it will be returning for several days next week. The Nashua River that we overlook could use more rain too.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad ya'all are getting some of our (overly) generous rainfall! I love how you've captured those moon shots. Peek-a-boo indeed!
ReplyDeletePlease give King Blackie my regards. I so love his rags-to-riches story!
Hello Pamela! Oh, rain! Yay! I love the images of the birds. I also love Blackie. He brings this Mississippi visitor a smile when stops by to read. Please give him a little pat from me. Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteWoo Hoo...so happy that you all got the rain. With our "El Nino" that is supposed to be coming, hopefully you all will get plenty of much needed rain and the pond will fill up. I sure enjoyed the photos you shared...We have had some blue jays around here this year and those little boogers can be so aggressive. They are constantly diving at the squirrels. I think Blackie is one happy cat.. He has found a home and owners who take great care of him and I also think his owners are super happy too. Wishing you a wonderful Sunday and the last day of May...
ReplyDeleteI am so, so, so happy it's raining there. I've been praying for rain for Stillwaters Pond. We were watching a YouTube video a few nights ago of a young couple who just bought some raw land in Florida and it was pouring down rain there. Dennis said I hope that means that your friend Pamela is getting rain for her pond. Yes, he's been praying too.
ReplyDeleteLoved seeing all of the photos of your wild kingdom. Those are some beautiful bird photos. And Blackie. The king of it all. He seems so happy with you and your Hubby and I'm happy for all of you. We're really missing our Zoey on this trip. I've had to stay behind at the camper so much because of my back while Piper and Papa go and play that we could have bought her and not worried about her being alone much. Oh well, I know she's content with her sister and Brad and Mandy.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
