Tuesday 4~Simple Questions

 Simple Questions

Welcome to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4. I hope you are enjoying these questions. Let me know if they can be improved and if you have any ideas for subjects!
Here are just 4 simple questions for you this week...

1. Do you have any superstitious beliefs?
That's easy to answer: NO!

2. How often do you check the weather? Where do you get your weather reports?

We check our weather app on my phone every morning. Actually, hubby and I play a little guessing game every morning. He doesn't look at the weather app,  and I ask him to guess what the current temperature is, and he has to get it within one degree to get a point. Then I ask him what the high will be for the day, and then what the conditions are/or will be all day, such as sunny, cloudy, partly cloudy, rainy, or FOGGY, like it was this morning:

 then the wind speeds, percentage of actual precipitation for the day, and the percentage of humidity.  Again, all answers have to be within 1 degree or 1 percent of the actual answer. There is no prize...just a good test of his mental acuity in the morning while drinking his coffee.  Some days he does pretty good and gets most all of them right...but when the weather is so changeable like it has been lately, it's been a bit more challenging.  I'm glad he's the one doing the guessing and I hold the answers on my phone! LOL.  For me, I guess the weather by whether or not my joints are extra stiff in the morning or not. LOL.  We do also check the weather on the TV when there's a question about any serious weather conditions (like hurricanes or tornadoes, or this winter...freeze warnings have been rather frequent for us, more so than usual for this part of the country.)

Current view outside our front door: Full Moon tonight:.(Monday night)  This was around 7:30 p.m.  I plan to try and remember to get up and look at the lunar eclipse of the moon early Tuesday morning, and if I can get some decent pictures, I will add them before I post this.

(I don't know what that aqua blob is on the picture. Maybe a UFO. LOL.)

3.What time of your life was the happiest and why do you think that was? How could life improve for you now?
That's really hard to answer, as I've been happy in every season of my life, even though there have been some very sad and difficult times as well, but even so I have a deep down joy in my heart because of Jesus living in me.   Without Him, I would not have been able to get through some of the very difficult times.

This was probably one of the happiest times in my life...our sweet little family...our boys were still young and happy and healthy and innocent. Hubby was the Pastor of a beautiful church and we seemed to be "sitting on top of the world" for a while.  Life definitely got more difficult as the years went by, but this was a time of joy and many blessings.  (I was just 30 years old in this picture. At the time I thought I was really getting old! LOL)

To answer the rest of the question: "How could life improve for you now?"
I think for the most part things are going pretty well for people of our age, but if anything could improve, it would be to have our strength and health renewed and restored back to a time of a bit more strength, energy, and stamina.  But truly, we are very very thankful for everything we have at this stage in life. We look around us and realize that it could always be so much worse, so we are extremely thankful to God that He is taking very good care of us.

4. What things would you ordain to make everyday life happier, kinder, more prosperous, for everyone?

Here are some verses from the Bible that summarize what I believe makes life happier, kinder, and more prosperous.  If everyone could "drink of the water that (Jesus) shall give him", he would definitely have the kind of joy that never fails, no matter what the circumstances of life.

John 4:13-14~
13 Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again,
14 but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst.
But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”

Isaiah 12:1-3
1 "And in that day you will say:
“O Lord, I will praise You;
Though You were angry with me,
Your anger is turned away, and You comfort me.
Behold, God is my salvation,
I will trust and not be afraid;
‘For Yah, the Lord, is my strength and song;
He also has become my salvation.’ ”
Therefore with joy you will draw water
From the wells of salvation."

Psalm 89:1-2 NKJV

1 "I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever;
With my mouth will I make known Your faithfulness to all generations.
2 For I have said, “Mercy shall be built up forever;
Your faithfulness You shall establish in the very heavens.”

My thoughts: there really isn't anything this world has to offer that will bring lasting happiness and prosperity.  Everything here is temporary.  Here is what Jesus said on this subject:

Matthew 6:19-21 NKJV
19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal;
20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.
21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

All this "stuff" we have here to make us more comfortable and "happy" is just that, STUFF.  It's okay to make ourselves comfortable here, but don't ever think any of it is permanent. Ask someone who has had a tornado rip through their home, or a fire or a flood. They are extremely thankful when they can escape with their family intact and the clothes on their back (if they are so blessed to be able to do that).  All that STUFF is gone in a puff of wind or a torrent of water...but our souls are eternal.  That is the ONLY thing that lasts for eternity, so we best consider where we will be spending eternity while there is yet time.

2 Corinthians 6:2 NKJV

"2 For He (Jesus) says:
“In an acceptable time I have heard you,
And in the day of salvation I have helped you.”
Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation."

I will try to finish this in the morning, if I can get some pictures of the "blood moon".
Okay, here I am, 6:15 a.m. Tuesday morning.  I did go out and watch the eclipse for the first half...and I apologize for the poor quality of my pictures. I am certain many of you may have better cameras for moon shots than I do, so I expect there will be some out there with really good photos. But here's what I have, so you will know that I did what I said I would do!

I had a lot more pictures, but they really were too fuzzy to be worth showing.  So how many of you went out to watch the eclipse?  I can't wait to see your pictures!

Blackie says, "Okay, it's time to post this and get on with our day! "

He finds the most precarious spots to just lay himself down and rest a spell from his wanderings...seems like he's always right on the edge of something!  (Sometimes I feel like that too, don't you?)

Okay, my friends...be blessed and enjoy this day.

"This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it!"
Psalm 118:24

  1. I forgot about the eclipse, was going to look at it.
    You've sure had a lot of foggy days lately. I wish you would get some rain.
    I love that family photo. What a precious family!

  2. I didn't even know there was going to be an eclipse, Pamela, so I'm glad you got some photos of it to share with us all here. Thanks, too, for the Bible verses that remind us of what is truly important in our lives in light of eternity. I love that family photo, too. Happy times!
    Blessings!

  3. No nope me! I no longer feel the need to get up that early for an eclipse. I'm content to ohh and ahh over the dedicated pictures of others instead. So I thank you!
    What a sweet photo of you and your young family. Even during the hardest times in my life, I wouldn't change a thing. All those seasons were sweet and ordered by the Lord.
    I've always been a weather person. I must have inherited it from my dad, as a contractor was always looking at the weather. Then my one son inherited it from me. When all other kids were home watching Watching M-TV, he was in his room watching the weather channel! What a loveable nerd!
    Enjoyed your post, Pamela. Have a good week ahead.

  4. Elaine and Jim got up early enough to go out for the moon eclipse but they didn't see anything. I will show them your pictures! I love that family photo of you and your boys! It struck me how much Benton now looks like John in that picture! Thanks for sharing! xo

  5. Oops, I'm afraid I slept through the whole eclipse. The last 2 nights I have had full nights sleeps with no getting up or looking at the clock go around. So grateful for that.
    Great photos you captured.
    Love your family photo of your dear boys and both of you. Precious forever memories.
    I also love the verses you shared today. "Stuff" can sure get in the way of Life sometimes.
    I am taken with that hutch/cabinet/beautiful holder of remembrances behind Blackie.
    its so pretty. I love the wood and all the separate nitches. Is it an heirloom?

    1. Thank you, Sue. The cabinet is a Secretary Desk, and yes, it is an heirloom. It belonged to my hubby's grandparents. I will have to share a post that I wrote about it with you, so I will probably send you an email when I find it, okay?

  6. I did go out and look at the eclipse, but I am terrible at taking pictures. The iPhone while it is amazing can't do those kind of pics too good. I did fall back asleep and then didn't want to get up.
    I look at the weather daily. I am just happy to see warmer temps as I make it no mystery that cold weather is not my thing.
    I love the picture of you at 30 with your sweet family. I think that would probably be my answer to that question. I love all the seasons. Could we be young and have the wisdom of age or would that just be too much wisdom for that age? I do feel like times are going by way to fast and wish I had the energy of my youth though.

  7. Good day, Pamela!!!
    Yes!!! Yes!!! I love your outlook on life in a lot of your answers, and you are so right....there is really nothing this world can offer us for lasting happiness. I am so thankful for our Lord. He is so amazing. I can't wait to spend eternity at His feet. this world is fleeting and life is but a vapor but in that process, I want to praise Him and thank Him for the little earlthy sweet experiences I do have. :) Hugs and rubs to King Blackie.

  8. I can easily relate to the photo of your family when you were 30 years old and the hard stuff of like was yet to come. It's very interesting, isn't it, to look back at those pictures and ruminate on what came in the years after that. But then we remind ourselves that it has all been in God's view, with nothing taking Him by surprise, and how much we have grown (matured) with all of it. His faithfulness has prevailed, even in the worst of times.

  9. I'm grinning so big about your and John's "weather game." Maybe that's something I should introduce to Tom!
    How beautiful you were in this family photograph. (Happiness does that, doesn't it?) I, too, like to think my early 30's were the best times ... but then, God knows best.

  11. I had too much cloud cover to see the moon! Boo. Pretty pictures! I have a picture like that when I am about 32--it's funny to think back on that time from the me of the now!

  12. I didn't go out to try and photos of the blood moon because it would have been 3 a.m. my time or so and one never knows if the clouds will interfere. I cannot see the moon from my patio so I'd have to get out and exit the building. I like the scripture verses today and for sure we are blessed to have anything and best not to put our love onto things. I had to laugh at you quizzing your husband. You sure do put him through his paces while he's having coffee, lol.

  13. I love the weather guessing game you do together. :-)
    The family photo and your answer to #3 touched my heart this morning.
    Thank you,
    Carla

  14. Cats do love ledges and it's hard to get to places. so happy for Blackie is now indoor/outdoor with parents who love him.
    the only thing that could improve my life would be a miracle that Bob could walk again, OR someone would give me a million dollars OR 3000 a month for the rest of my life.. I could pay someone to take care of Bob and the house.
    not a superstitious bone in my body.

  15. That's a fun game you and your Hubby play every morning. We don't do that, but I frequently check the weather on the app on my phone. Especially in the spring and summer when tornadoes pop up.
    Thank you for the wonderful reminder of the "Living Water" that is always with us, even when things here vanish away. I love our life here, although I do with our kids all lived closer, but I long for Heaven.
    The photo of you and your sweet family reminds me our our church directory photos of around the same time period. We would had no idea how our family would shift and change and the good and hard times we would face. And I, too, thought I was terribly old at 30.
    We're planning to leave on Monday for a month long camping trip to Texas. Spring should be fully sprung before we get back home, if the Lord tarries.
    Praying for a wonderful Wednesday for you my dear friend.
    Blessings and love,
    Betsy

  16. Dear Pamela, I forgot about the eclipse. And even if I remembered and tried to take a photo of it, I don't yet have the experience for moon shots, etc. Only clouds thus far. Blackie is a beautiful cat 🐈
    Your photos are lovely and you are so photogenic. 💗

  17. There was no chance of our seeing the eclipse due to heavy fog and rain and clouds. So I enjoyed your photos.
    Loved the picture of you and your family. And I agree with you. All times of our lives have blessings.

  18. No, I am not superstitious, not one bit. As for checking the weather I check it on my phone pretty often. In the winter I have to be sure I have the temperature out in the barn warm enough so the pipes don't freeze. Therefore; I keep a steady eye on it and I just love looking at the weather to see when we're going to have a pretty sunny day.
    I look back at my life I've had so many good times and hard times, but I think it's in the hard times when I really matured. I believe the Lord uses hard times to teach us to depend on Him. If I could make anything better it would just be answers to my prayers that my children and grandchildren would all be saved and come to know the Lord in a real way.
    Well those are my answers to your questions. I hope you're having a lovely day. I always enjoy visiting your blog.
