Friday Foto Friends and Praises after the Storm!

Good Morning from "Sunny Florida", the morning after Hurricane Helene swept through during the night.  This was our sunrise this morning. We awoke to check things out all around us, and to give thanks to the Lord for His protection over our home and family during the night.
Thankfully, we never lost power except for a flicker around midnight that messed up our clocks, but that was it!  We could hear the rain and wind on the roof throughout the night, but never anything really serious.  I know that people to the west of us and to the north had it much much worse, and many are without power and some have experienced flooding.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to them, but thankfully, as far as I know, everyone is safe.  My song this morning at sunrise was the Doxology:

"Praise God from Whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him all creatures here below;
Praise Him above ye heavenly hosts;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Amen."

I really don't have any pictures from the storm, because the majority of it was after dark last night. Yesterday was mostly just a cloudy day with a few quick showers and wind gusts, but nothing major.  This was the sunrise yesterday morning before the storm began:
So I want to thank all who have been praying, and please continue to pray for those who may still be in harm's way further north as Helene continues to push through GA., the Carolinas, Tennessee, and even into Kentucky later on. Some of our friends in GA. had already been getting flooding rains from another rainstorm that had passed through in the preceding days, and then this came on top of it.  They were also under severe tornado warnings, and one of our blogging friends, "Sparky" over at My Thoughts Exactly, lives in southeast GA., and she reported on her Facebook page that they may have had a tornado come through their yard last night as many trees were down and they got a lot of rain. I haven't checked on too many others yet, but I hope people will check in as they are able.

Yesterday morning I enjoyed some pieces of that wonderful home made bread that dil Rose baked for my birthday.  Son Benton said he wanted to see a picture of me eating it in front of the fire...so I put a "fire" in the fireplace (without the heat, of course, as it was quite warm here already), and sent him this picture of my breakfast.  I purposely did NOT include a picture of me, because, after all, it was at breakfast time and I don't know of too many people who want their picture taken at breakfast, unless you are all dressed up and go out for "brunch" somewhere. LOL.    The bread is delicious. She added extra honey to the mixture, and it made it really moist and flavorful. I am enjoying it perhaps too much, but, it's only one loaf, and it will soon be gone. Then I'll be back to plain old ordinary bread and not as much of it for a while!

I haven't shown you any updates on the house next door for a while, mainly because things have been moving rather slowly.  It takes forever to get inspections done and also for the workers to come back and finish their jobs...I think there is just too much development going on in our county and it is getting hard to keep up.  Anyway, I was SO happy to see the workers come and finally put the siding on the ends of the house before the hurricane came:

This is the view I can see from our house. Oh, also, they finally hooked up the AC/Heatpump unit and put a power "pole" connection on the end of the house, ready for power, but not connected yet.
This is the other end of the house.  Next will come the skirting around the bottom, and it will look much better.  Someone mentioned before when I shared pictures of the house that they would want a porch and/or a deck on it. Yes, that would be really nice, but that would be up to the new owner to add once the house is purchased.  It definitely needs a back porch overlooking Still Waters Pond!

I  went over this morning and checked on the house/lot to make sure no trees were down on the house. I do keep in touch with the current "owner/developer", as she lives in Jacksonville and can't get down here to check on things very often. We met when she bought the lot and started the process for clearing/developing.  Yes, it is a woman who is in charge of this project, and this is not her only project here in our town.  She will list this for sale when it is completed and ready for occupancy.  Actually, there is a listing for it already on Zillow...Here is a link to it on Zillow in case you are interested. The pictures are of a model with the same floor plan. The color scheme may be a bit different, but you will get the idea.

This morning the only issue I could find after the storm was this big mud puddle in front of the house, but they are not finished with the landscaping, etc., yet, so I am sure this area will be corrected when they do all of the finishing touches.  You can see our house over there on the far left. That's how close of a neighbor I would be if you lived here!

After I did my walkabout this house and our house, hubby and I went outside to our front yard and raked up a LOT of branches on the ground and on our driveway from the big Oak trees in front of the house.  That was really the only issue we had to take care of, and we are VERY thankful indeed.

I didn't take any pictures of us working out there, but here's how it looks now:

You can see how big those oak trees are, and they are very messy trees.  If it's not branches falling every time the wind blows, its acorns and leaves!  Plus it is very hard to get any grass to grow under them, but I do appreciate the shade, so I'm not complaining (much). LOL.

And here is how Still Waters Pond looks this morning...nice and full of water!  So the Herons and Sand Hill Cranes and fish  and turtles should all be happy.

Well, that's about it for today. I mainly wanted to thank you for your prayers, and to let you know that prayers have definitely been answered. We continue to pray for those who have had a harder time than we did. May God speed help to them and restore their power and get them safely back into their homes soon.

Isaiah 40:31  NKJV

31 But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.

  1. I'm so happy to know that you were okay through the hurricane, Pamela, and thanks for your prayers for us, too. We are now back home and found no out of the ordinary damage to our property, so we're so thankful to God for taking care of us. In fact, the sun just peeked out for the first time in days! Once again, thanks for your note about the birthday card, too. I'm so glad you liked it!
    Blessings always!

  2. Helo, Pam and thanks for commenting on my page.. Actually I think the rapture could come either on the 2,3 or 4th of October which would be during the feast of tabernacle.s Not knowing which day it could occur on, I think that satisfies the scripture about the day. But I am not actually positive it will happen this year, alter the info in the October 9th video which is much more about the tribulation and the alignment of the stars really does make me wonder that this may be the year. I watched Netanyahu speak from the UN this morning and he was not well received except by his own entourage. I watched a video today speaking of a false peace treaty in the making and after seeing his speech and the attitude of the very few there it seems entirely possible!!! I have some family who are rejecting Christ and it pains me so much! But I have tried to help them top see the truth to no avail! I can only pray now!!!

  3. Like you, I am thanking the Lord for His mercies in getting us through the storm. We slept through it and just had small branches and twigs to pick up this morning.

    The neighboring house is beautiful (I went to the link you provided). I hope you get some really pleasant people for neighbors.

    That bread from Rose on your breakfast plate looks wonderful!

  4. Hello Pamela! It was a very bad storm for many, but God be praised that you did not have any damage. You are very brave to live in Florida - don't think I would want to, but you don't have to deal with winter storms and snow. I hope you get some good neighbors. I am wondering if the price of that home includes the land or if there is a lot rent too. It looks very nice. Is your home similar? Your birthday bread looks delicious. Have a good weekend!

    1. The price of the house next door includes the lot, which is about 3/4 of an acre on a pond. I've shared pictures of the view from the house before. My house is similar in that it is also a manufactured home, but ours has been here for 20 years and could use some updating here and there. They are similar also in square footage, but our floor plan is different. We only have 3 BR, but we have a little den area that could have been a 4th bedroom if needed. It is the area I call my "room with a view" where I do all my writing. Regarding the storm, where we live we are far enough inland from the Gulf Coast and the Atlantic Coast so that we do not usually get the full impact of these hurricanes. Rain and wind and possibly power outage is about normal, with possible tree damage. Thankfully we only had a few small branches down this time and did not lose power. We are very thankful indeed. I've lived up north where there was snow and ice and winter storms, and I've lived out in the midwest where there is a higher risk for tornadoes. I prefer where we live to any of the above. It does get pretty hot in the summer, but then we have such wonderful winter weather and can be outside pretty much all fall/winter/spring enjoying the outdoors, and only have to stay inside in the air conditioning in the summer with the high heat and humidity. So it's a trade off. Thank you again...and I hope you have a blessed and wonderful weekend too.

  5. We have a good report from a little farther South! No damage....just small branches and a gazillion leaves! Sure is nice to have the sunshine today. We are praying for all those still suffering from the storm though. Hugs!

  6. Pam: Here in Indiana, we have rain predicted for today, Saturday, Sunday. But that's all right. We had rain last Sunday, as well. Before that, we had drought conditions. We had brown patches of grass in our side yard. The man we hired to mow our grass has no mowed in at least two weeks, (my guess!) Anyway, glad you are all safe. Roger was planning to come home to help celebrate Jim's birthday. That has been put back a week, due to the weather. That part of the state got a lot more rain than we did overnight. Peace and blessings to you and yours.

  7. Glad to hear you're okay! And that you have very little damage. We've been following the hurricane here (Seattle) and praying for everyone in it's path. I understand about the oak trees, we have large evergreen trees in our yard and all around us. We have pine, cedar and hemlock. The pine needles get into everything, we have small branches and limbs that break off during wind storms and the grass doesn't grow under the trees. But, they are pretty and it always smells like Christmas!

  8. I would love to be your neighbor. What fun that would be! Your posts are always so delightful and encouraging. I am grateful to hear you are safe. These storms can be so devastating. A friend who lives in Fort Morgan and has his mom here not far from us, is visiting friends in Tampa Bay. My kids say Ryan is like a cat with 9 lives. He survived spinal meningitis in the Navy when he was a new recruit and he survived a fifty foot jump into shallow water. Broke his neck but he is still here. I will always tell him he needs Jesus cause that is who saved him. I am praying for all who need it. It is good tobe here. Have a beautiful weekend dear lady.

  11. Praise God, indeed! My Florida friends were on my heart and in my prayers when I went to sleep -- and again when I woke up. I'm so glad you were spared; your sweet home looks so smart and tidy! Ooooh ya, we know all about the noise and mess those acorns make. I've given up raking them and let the resident squirrels enjoy their fill. Thank you for checking in, dear friend.

  16. I guess it landed further north from you. That’s good for you. Glad you were sparred. I have family in East Tennessee and apparently they’re have flooding that looks terrible and something about flood water encroaching on a hospital. I then looked at photos of water all the way up to the roof. Can’t even see the house part. Now flooding scares me. My cousin said bridges are collapsing and 1-40 has been closed. East Tennessee wasn’t prepared and not expecting this. I’m just sick about it.
    I remember 40 years ago my folks had moved back to Scott County and there was a Florida hurricane and they had flooding and horrible tornadoes.
    That is such a reasonable price for that house and with so much property, too. I can’t wait till the new neighbors move in.
    Well glad you made it through. 🙏🏻

  17. Hi Pamela, I am glad you are safe from the hurricane. Glad that you got water to fill your pond that the animals can enjoy. Praying your new neighbors are friendly!

  18. I am so glad to read that you didn't have any major damage during the hurricane. I've sure been doing a lot of praying for several friends and Dennis's brother, all in Florida. We've heard from all but one now and so far everyone has been safe and not much damage at all. I know that's not true for some and I feel for them all.
    I just found your friend Schotzy and signed onto her blog. I've been watching and reading a LOT about the rapture and it seems as though it could be near. I'm hoping so, but if it isn't yet I'll keep on looking up and forward. And trying to spread the Good News to anyone who will listen.
    Lots of love and many blessings to you all,
    Betsy
