Welcome to my "Open Window"...a place of hope, encouragement, and adventure as we journey down the road from "Closed Doors" to the new opportunities God places in our pathway. I hope you will take the time to go back and follow the trail of mixed blessings and fears, failures and triumphs from the past and side-trips in the present. Perhaps it will conjure up some of your own special memories, and be an invitation for you to share with others. I look forward to spending this time with you!

An Afternoon "Beside The Still Waters" Pond
After spending a very cozy night listening to the rain on the "tin roof" all night long, it was wonderful to be able to get outside in the afternoon and enjoy some of God's wonderful beauty "Beside The Still Waters" Pond...
It was a perfect time to rest 'beside the still waters', and let God "restore my soul". I hope you will enjoy the pictures I took as I rejoiced in this beautiful sunny afternoon.
Psalm 23
1 The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
3 He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
(see how many birds you can find in this picture. Look closely...and do you see the "runaway squirrel"? The Bluebirds have been dive-bombing him to keep him away from their nesting area!)
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.
Amen.
With all the turbulence in the world today, we need to make time to spend some time alone with the Lord, whether it be "Beside the Still Waters" or by taking a nice long country ride, or a walk along the beach or through the woods...or maybe just sitting in a favorite chair beside the window or next to the fire...no matter where you are...whether it is freezing cold with snow on the ground, or warm and sunny like it is here in our part of the country right now...take the time to be in prayer and meditate on God's Word. It will clear your mind and refresh your soul and bring peace into your heart. It's the best medicine anyone could ask for. And it doesn't cost a dime. Just a few moments of your time.
20 "My son, give attention to my words;
Incline your ear to my sayings.
21 Do not let them depart from your eyes;
Keep them in the midst of your heart;
22 For they are life to those who find them,
And health to all their flesh."
Proverbs 4:20-22
Praying for our own country and our leaders. May they seek the Lord's wisdom in how they govern this vast nation with all it's great needs right now. May God protect our people and keep us from further danger and harm. Amen.
On a personal note, the next few days will be busy, so I may not get back around again until next week. Friday is our son Scott's birthday. "The Kids" will be over Friday night for supper and a little celebration. So I'll be cake baking and cooking and doing some general housekeeping that is way behind...
Saturday morning our church has it's monthly Breakfast that is open to the public. We always enjoy attending that and having a really great breakfast with some really sweet people! And then of course Sunday is Sunday...and we have Sunday School at 8:30 and church at 10:00, and lunch out with friends afterwards. Oh, I never did post this past Sunday's service. It was a great message from Matthew Chapter 4: 1-11, "Handling Temptation".
If you wish to listen, here is the service. The choir is singing "Shine, Jesus, Shine" at the beginning of the video. I hope you enjoy it and sing along!
"Lord, the light of Your love is shining, in the midst of the darkness shining
Jesus, light of the world, shine upon us, set us free by the truth You now bring us
Shine on me, shine on me.
Shine, Jesus, Shine, fill this land with the Father’s glory
Blaze, Spirit, blaze, set our hearts on fire.
Flow, river flow, flood the nations with grace and mercy
Send forth Your Word, Lord, and let there be light.
Lord, I come to Your awesome presence, from the shadows into Your radiance
By the blood I may enter Your brightness
Search me, try me, consume all my darkness
Shine on me, shine on me.
Shine, Jesus, Shine, fill this land with the Father’s glory
Blaze, Spirit, blaze, set our hearts on fire.
Flow, river flow, flood the nations with grace and mercy
Send forth Your Word, Lord, and let there be light.
As we gaze on Your kingly brightness, so our faces display Your likeness
Ever changing from glory to glory
Mirrored here, may our lives tell Your story
Shine on me, shine on me.
Shine, Jesus, Shine, fill this land with the Father’s glory
Blaze, Spirit, blaze, set our hearts on fire.
Flow, river flow, flood the nations with grace and mercy
Send forth Your Word, Lord, and let there be light."
Okay, folks, I guess that's all for now! I'm still trying to get around and visit with you all. Thank you for your kind comments always!! Love you all!!

I enjoy your photos so much. I've said it before, but your little patch on this earth reminds me so much of my grandmother's home. Maybe one day I will get to visit with you and sit by your pond for real.
ReplyDeleteThat is so sweet. I would love to remind you or anyone of their grandmother's home! I think I am starved for lack of grandchildren in my life having only one grandson who lives so far away and now is already 22. You are so blessed to have your little ones so close who run in and out of your house daily! Anyway, I would love to have you come and visit and sit by the pond with me someday for real!!! That would be delightful!!!
DeleteWhat a beautiful setting to restore your soul.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the song, thank you for sharing.
I want to thank you for the "how to" for making London Fog Tea. I have had it at night a couple of times and really enjoyed it. Plus it gives me somewhere to use my old Dollar Tree milk frother.
I am so happy you enjoyed this! Wouldn't it be fun to sit there together and drink our "London Fog Tea"? I don't have a milk frother...not even sure what it is! LOL. So if you come, you must bring it with you so we can "froth" together! LOL. Have a blessed and wonderful day! I hope you are wearing some green! Today is St. Patrick's day! Don't get pinched! LOL.
DeleteIt looks like a forest out there! Wonderful to have so much wildlife to watch and enjoy. Yes, turbulent times are good times for prayer and reflection on God's Word. Of course, the opposite is also true. Anytime is a good time! I really like your setup for outdoor seating.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week and all of the fun. The weather is gorgeous now and I stood outside and looked at the moon last night too! HAVE FUN!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know there was a full moon until I took the dog out early this morning and saw it. It was so bright and beautiful! Thank you for sharing all your pictures and Psalm 23. Loved the squirrel and all the birds. Hope you have a great weekend with all the special stuff going on.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Pamela, for leading us beside the still waters with such gorgeous photography! I especially loved the close up of the squirrel, but I'm sure you'd figure that one out.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Scott, too! Enjoy the celebration.
Blessings!
Awesome photo's of the beauty around us. When I attended bible school back in the day, we memorized that psalm, such a good one.
ReplyDeleteSo grateful that He is the restorer of my soul!! Some days much more restoring than others:) Oh Mr. Squirrel....some days it is just hard to sneak a few treats!!:) Enjoy celebrating with your family!! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteHi Pamela, I enjoyed your pictures. I would love to sit with you at your pond. I have been busy too and not blogging as much. I am off to my Bible journaling group this morning and then my Lent study later. I will try to come back and visit.
ReplyDeleteI love how these verses complement your photos, Pam! And that sweet squirrel ... I can't even!
ReplyDeleteWe're on our way to the VA, but I want to come back this afternoon and sing along to this pretty hymn.
Such a beautiful post. It soothed my soul which is hurting today with my good friend's funeral. It has been a tough few weeks which is why I am absent from so much. Only He can take care of us in troubled times. I too just need to be outside in His most beautiful world. Thanks for the uplifting post.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this post and the photos which are absolutely beautiful. How blessed you are to live next to Besides the Still Waters Pond.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to Scott!! I know the celebration will be full of joy and yummy food!! Pam, your photos are always stunning! It is easy to get lost in them so I can only imagine how wonderful it is to be there in person! Hugs! xo
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed my visit to Still Water Pond. the only thing better would be to be there in person.
ReplyDeleteI am so blessed to be getting to know you here. Yes I see the runaway squirrel 🐿 in the corner. Your posts offer a peaceful place in the midst of these troubled times. Beautiful photos and encouraging scripture. Thank you
