Friday Foto Friends ~ A Walk on the Wild Side

Greetings Friends! It's Friday already! I think I am glad for this week to come to an end. Had to get out and take a walk and enjoy some fresh air and listen to the birdies sing!

“For you shall go out with joy,
And be led out with peace;
The mountains and the hills
Shall break forth into singing before you,
And all the trees of the field shall clap their hands."
Isaiah 55:12

The trees in the woods were full of Tufted Titmice and Chickadees and Woodpeckers. I could hear them before I could see them. It was as if they were sending the message all over the woods:
"An intruder is coming near...pass the word!"

Two Tufted Titmice in the tree above.

A Downy Woodpecker looks like he is caught in a cage, but he flew quickly away before I could get another picture.

The Red Bellied Woodpecker was finding something good inside that pinecone!

There was a lot of commotion down the street with these big old ugly buzzards flying all over the place:

They really did not like me invading their space because they were all in hot competition for the remains of an unfortunate deer that had apparently been hit by a car and was laying in the bushes:
(no picture of that...trying to keep this clean)

The buzzards were all over the trees surrounding me as I walked through, impatiently waiting for me to get on by so they could get back to their dinner.

I felt like I was in the movie set for "The Birds"...not a pleasant thought, so I hurried on back to join my hubby on our walk. Never did like that movie.
But I still enjoyed my walk and seeing some real bird activity for a change.  I haven't been taking as many walks as usual because of the holidays and the cold weather, and just being too busy (or lazy). Now I need to get back in the routine and keep my body moving!

Speaking of wildlife and holidays, my son and his sweet wife, who comprise the company of
Ben & Rose's Country Woodshop, were busily creating some special gifts for us this Christmas.  I've been asking for some extra shelving and/or towel bars/hooks for our bathrooms, and so they heeded the call and livened up my bathroom with some "wildlife":

If you've known me very long, you know that bears have played a big part in my "former life" before moving here where it is a little more civilized than our last home in the middle of the national forest. I do miss seeing our bears so frequently, so the kids thought they'd add a little reminder to my bathroom decor where I will see them every day!  I love it!
(I already had that towel...just needed a place to hang it!)

In case you didn't know me back then, here's just a little sampling of some of the wildlife that we had in  our front yard at our former home. Bears were frequent visitors during the night and sometimes during the day...and the deer were always frolicking around:

This bear wanted to know why we had our house up for sale:

The deer were always congregating in our yard and road:

I do miss these beautiful animals, but sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do...and we are very happy where we are living now.

Likewise, they made another little towel bar/shelf  so I'd have a place to hang other guest/hand towels and also a place to put some things... No, I didn't take that framed photograph. It was a gift last year from a friend. I love it as it is typical of our surroundings where we live now.

And they didn't forget hubby's bathroom. He also got a new towel bar and some hooks:

His weren't as "wild" as mine, but they are functional and that is all that mattered to him.

Yes, we have that same "wallpaper" in all of our bathrooms. It came with the house and it would be rather costly to cover or replace, so we live with it. It's a bit busy, but it kind of grows on you after a while. LOL.

So there you have it...a little taste of "walking on the wild side" for this week.  Sure beats what's going on in the news, which we won't discuss. I nearly had a meltdown last night when I listened to what people in the media are saying, so we are not watching the news and probably won't for the next four years. I may just retreat back into the woods for a while...

10. “For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,
And do not return there,
But water the earth,
And make it bring forth and bud,
That it may give seed to the sower
And bread to the eater,
11.  So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
Isaiah 55:10-11

So be it, Lord. Accomplish Your will through the sharing of Your Word...
that is where I want to be...

Have a lovely weekend, my friends. Might be a good time to get outside and enjoy God's beautiful world around us and stay away from the news for a while!

Your translation is totally off. I speak fluent Bird. They actually said, "Here comes Pamela who loves the Lord!"

    😂

Have fun with those bears in the woods. I wanted to say I would rather hang out with them too than watch this all unfolding...but something, Someone, says watch. He is doing something. So here I am. It will be good. It will at least be better than bears. I think.

    1. Thank you, Sandi. You always say the nicest things! Yes, I think the birdies were happy to see me, all except the buzzards. I was definitely interrupting their dinner and they were not pleased! LOL. I pray you are correct about "Someone says watch...He is doing something..." Oh how I pray you are right. Yes, we will watch and see what He unfolds. We know that those things which are done in darkness will be revealed in the Light. So yes, I am watching and waiting and praying, but I can't bear to watch the news. There are too many lies afoot.

  2. Beautiful photos Pamela and I love the gorgeous gift. I think I would have been terrified to have bears wandering around like that!

    1. We never had a problem with the bears the whole time we lived there. The only thing they tried to do was get into our bird feeder inside the privacy fence, but we solved that by not leaving it out at night. Otherwise, they just moseyed on through. Our house was right on their trail and they didn't care who lived there, they were walking through. So we just stayed out of their way. They normally would run into the woods when we'd appear.

  3. I'll join you out there! lol I love the pretty things you have for your bathrooms and the neat photos of the birds. Neat that you saw bears and deer at your last house too. We watch one program on tv...ONE a day! Five at five. It is helping me make sense of the world around me. But it's been terribly sad. Enjoy your day. We'll be on the trails this afternoon! Hugs!

    1. I do like The Five, but I haven't seen it this week...I just can't handle the stress right now of all of this and I don't want to hear them arguing back and forth. But I do love that show. Yes, we enjoyed watching the bears and deer at our last house, but it was just too far from civilization for us as we realized we are getting older and need to be nearer to things like doctors, hospital, stores, church, etc. and our kids, who live here where we are now. Enjoy your trails for me! I wish I could talk hubby into being a little more adventuresome...but at least we get out and walk. That's the most important part.
      Have a great weekend.

  4. I like your wildlife towels and you really don't know busy wallpaper. That is calm compared to what I removed from this house. It is making a comeback and I actually really do like wallpaper. I had some in my former home that I would still love today, but after spending about two summers scraping wallpaper from room after room..I will not be putting any up in my lifetime. I do see some cute ones though on Instagram.
Yours is coming back so enjoy it. You are back in style!
I always love the bird pictures. I walk with my head up when I am not walking the dogs and sometimes even then.

    1. Since this house is a manufactured home, these wallpaper designs are actually imprinted on the wallboards in the bathrooms. The only thing I could do would be to paint over it or put up some type of paneling, which I don't want to do in a bathroom. So we will live with it. It's just busy, and especially when it is in all three bathrooms! LOL.

  5. What thoughtful gifts, those towel bars and shelving! Your wallpaper looks a LOT like my shower curtain! (*smile*) Gosh, I'd be beside myself to glimpse the bear and deer visits ... LOVE! Speaking of bear, have you read "Emory's Gift" by W. Bruce Cameron? Not something I'd normally pick up, but it remains one of my all-time 'best' reads.
I'm right there with you on what's passing for news coverage of late. Tom's a news junkie, but I need to pull out my ear buds and listen to something calming and enriching.

    1. You would have loved our former home...we had frequent visits from the bears and deer. Mostly at night for the bears, hence the night wildlife camera photos. We set up a little pool of water for them to get a drink right in front of the camera, and they often just sat right down in the pool and took a bath! IT was hilarious! They actually smiled! I'll have to pull out some of those pictures to show again sometime. I am not familiar with that book. I will have to "check it out". Reading and writing here and otherwise will be my "news" from now on. I just can't handle the stuff they call news anymore.

  6. I hear you about the news, Pamela, and you are giving us all some good advice. As I'm sort of a news junkie, I would find it hard to give up on it completely. Newsmax is a great alternative!
Your photos, as always, are enchanting, my friend. And what a great job Benton and Rose did on those towel racks! Love the bear one especially. :)
    Blessings!

    1. Thank you, Martha. I almost decided to join you in giving up Facebook after what they have done this week, but have decided that I will flood them with God's Word and positive "news" as often as I can and stay away from the garbage that some are spewing. Thank you for visiting and liking my "wildlife" stuff. I'm enjoying it too.

    1. Thank you, Terri. I may have to pull out some more bear photos and share them again now and then. I miss seeing them too, but not enough to move back there. Although going deeper into the woods and hiding for a few years might not be a bad idea. LOL.

  8. Beautiful photos. We're getting quite a few migratory birds this week with all the snow up North. It's wonderful living in the country. I get to see God's creation unfold right in front of me and the beauty of His heavens. His nature is my happy "drug". *grin*
    Blessings. xx

  9. As I was reading I got to thinking, how nice it would be to go for a walk with you. right now it would have to be at your place, because, when it's not too cold we have ice underfoot, so walking is a little hazardous. Getting out in nature is so calming.

    1. Yes, getting out in nature is very calming, and I am trying to do a lot more of it these days as the weather permits. I know we have it much better than you do right now, even on our coldest days, so I won't complain! If you ever do decide to come down, bring your camera and your walking shoes and we will go a "hunting" for the best pictures!! Take care my friend, and stay safe and warm.

    1. Thank you Annie. No, our last wildlife camera died before we moved here and we just never got another one. I've thought about it, but I know we don't have any bears here, and we have seen an occasional deer run past along the shore, but other than raccoons and neighborhood cats there really hasn't been anything else too exciting to see here besides the birds, of course! So I haven't felt the need to get a new camera. I hope you have a wonderful weekend too.

  11. pretty bird and tree/sky pictures! Your new towel hangers/racks look great, what a great gift! I've been busy packing up and putting away all the christmas decor plus had a migraine for a couple of days, so have not been on here, I am trying to catch up now. Hope your weekend is great. Oh and THOSE BEARS....oh my!!--they look like BIG ONES......YIKES!!

    1. I am sorry to hear about your migraine. That is no fun. I hope you take it easy and don't overdo it. I've been putting away Christmas decor also and it is a slow process. I've enjoyed it so much this year that I hate to take it all down, especially the lights...but there comes a time when we need to move on... And yes, the bears were big ones. We had all sizes there, mama bear, papa bear, and even lots of baby bears. It was exciting, as long as they stayed out there and we could stay inside to watch. Mostly they came at night and wandered through our property, which was a bear trail long before we came. Never had a problem except when they wanted to eat my birdseed out of the feeders. Had to take them down at night. We were blessed that they respected our home and property, and we respected them.
