Friday Foto Friends Day and What Do I Have to Show for It? Let's See...

Well, here it is again, folks! Friday Foto Friends day...and what do I have to show for it?  I must remember to save some pictures throughout the week without showing them on Facebook first, because many of my blogging friends are also Facebook Friends, so I know you don't want to see them twice!  I guess you could consider yourself privileged to get a sneak preview before the rest of Blog World!  Ha Ha!

Honestly, I'm not sure what to show you today.  I may have to dig back into the old photo albums for something fresh!   Speaking of old photo albums and all things old...I think I touched a nerve this week with the post on "National Pack Rat Day"!  Thank you, friends, for so many comments.  I didn't get around to replying to everyone, but I thank you for your thoughts and comments!  I envy some of you who are not as attached to "things" as much as I am...maybe you can come and help me clean out when the time comes!  I need someone who is not attached to help me be fearless!

Speaking of old photo albums, maybe that is what I will share with you today...a little family history.
In the process of cleaning out my mother in law's home, I brought home with us several family pictures.  I won't bore you with all of them, but I thought some of these would be interesting...

This is my husband's Great-Great Grandparents on his mother's side, Hester E. Waters, born March 11, 1847 and died August 20, 1907, and Rev. James R. Waters, Born August 22, 1846 and died November 6, 1903!  Don't you just love the beard?  My husband was surprised to learn that his Great-Great Grandfather was a minister! Which, as perhaps most of you know, is interesting because my husband is also a minister! I guess he had missed that interesting bit of genealogy somewhere along the line.  They were the parents to my husband's Great Grandfather, James Wesley Waters: Born in 1871 and died in 1955.

His wife was Martha Georgiann Jarrard, born  in 1876 and died in 1962.
My husband does remember knowing them when he was a little fella.

They were the parents to John's grandmother, Pearl Sarah Elizabeth Waters Martin: (in addition to 8 other children)

And this was her husband, John Richard Martin

And this is my husband's mother, Vivian Ruth Martin Steiner, when she was pregnant with my husband John, back in 1948.

And this was baby John Frank Steiner, born in 1948.

And here he is with his parents when he was probably about 4 or 5, before his brother was born:

And this is John with his baby brother Billy!

And last, but not least, Vivian Ruth Martin Steiner with her family surrounding her
on Mother's Day, 2017   She will be 94 in July.

So, I guess this is good enough for today's Friday Foto Friends.  I hope you don't mind a little family history here.

But wait!

So, after I decided to just do the family pictures above for today, I took a quick walk outside and down to the now almost dried up little pond in our neighborhood.  This is the time of year when I usually can see some deer if I go at the right times...early in the morning or late afternoon/evening...and I thought I was going to be too late today...but when I got there I had quite a surprise!  I hope you will indulge me a little longer, as I really don't want to keep these pictures hidden until next Friday!   And this will be our "devotional" pictures for the day:

Excerpts from:

Psalm 42

 1.  "As the deer pants for the water brooks,

(This pond is almost dry...so these deer have made it their hiding place,
while they search for water)
So pants my soul for You, O God.

 2.  My soul thirsts for God, for the living God,

When shall I come and appear before God?

 5.  "Why are you cast down, O my soul?
And why are you disquieted within me?

Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him for the help of
His countenance."
Yes!!!  That is a baby fawn, who was hidden in the bushes...and now Mama Deer is rushing her to safety away from the crazy lady with the camera!
 8.  "The Lord will command His lovingkindness
in the daytime,

Hurry little fawn!  Run to Mama!  We must get away from the crazy lady!!!

and in the night His song shall be with me...
A prayer to the God of my life."
Safe at last, on the other side of the pond, far away from the crazy lady with the camera...for now...

11.  "Why are you cast down, O my soul?
And why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God;
For I shall yet praise Him,
the help of my countenance and my God."

Now, aren't you glad I didn't just stop with the dusty old pictures from the photo album, as interesting as they are...I'm just thrilled at what the Lord provided for us today...from His beautiful creation and His Word!  I hope this brings hope and encouragement to you today....

"Hope in God;
For I shall yet praise Him,
the help of my countenance and my God."
Amen!!

Now please hop over to visit our other Friday Foto Friends at "Breathing in Grace" and check out what interesting things they've been doing this week!! See ya later!!

  2. What treasures old photos are! I had to laugh at the "shell shock" look that Gr-Gr grandmother Hester. Something took her by surprise or she was regretting her decision to have her photo taken. LOL I love to look through old photos of my family. Love your devotional photos. One of my favorite scriptures. Have a blessed day.

  3. "For I shall yet praise Him!"

    Amen...

Sweet photo of the baby deer!

It is such a blessing to have all these old photos -- and know who the people in them are! Funny about the minister link. Runs in the family! I think things like that do. A calling often extends like that.

The small photos all seem professionally posed, but the top looks like they are not so sure about this photographer and his new fangled camera!

  7. I thoroughly enjoyed the family pics and the one with your husband's mom when she was expecting. That's sweet. And the deer photos! Those are so beautiful. I hope the bears don't get any of those graceful creatures. You are blessed to see so much wildlife. I'm fascinated just watching the coyotes here and the hawks, which are mostly what I see.
