Just A Quick Check In About the Check Up

 Spring is in the air! Praise God for the promise of Spring!!

These beautiful camellias are at our church, and they are just so lovely right now!

And the Robins have been coming frequently to our bird bath...I don't know if they are coming or going as far as spring goes...they don't usually stay here very long...but hopefully they are just waiting here before they head back up north to usher in spring for those of you who are eagerly awaiting some warmer temperatures and no more snow!

Good Morning dear friends, and thank you to everyone who commented YESTERDAY about my hubby's birthday and also his appointment for a PET scan.  It was definitely a long day and probably not the way one wants to spend their birthday, but thankfully we had a good celebration the day before with family...and...we had a good celebration when we got the preliminary results of the test on the "MyChart" from the radiologist on the way home.  The biggest concern we had was the possibility of a metastasis of cancer cells from his previous bout with prostate cancer, due to some suspicious spots showing on a recent CT Scan.  However, the words that were written in all caps on this report that gave us great cause for celebration were: "NO EVIDENCE OF METASTATIC DISEASE".  As you can well imagine there was some "shouting hallelujah" in our car all the way home!  This morning we will meet with our Primary Care Physician to go over the results of this as well as the results of  both of our blood tests from last week, and hopefully there will be no other issues of great concern.

Meanwhile, how about some pictures of our resident "King Blackie",  who thinks he owns the place nowadays?

Anyone want to play a game of chess?  I have a feeling Blackie would win...

This morning we have been having an issue with Blackie wanting to sit upon one of my antique needlepoint chairs...out of all the chairs in the house, these two chairs that belonged to my grandmother are off limits. I have been trying to remember to put something on the chairs so that he cannot get up on them, but I forgot and here he is...and he will NOT let me take him off of the chair under any circumstances...

So I finally cajolled him and tempted him with this feather wand and he came down and played with it for a little while...

And even daddy got in on the act and played with him for a while...on the couch, which, as you can see is being protected from his sharp little claws by a thick towel and other coverings...

But as soon as the game was over, look where he went...

I finally had to push him off the chair with my purse...

And he moved over to this other chair,  which is okay because I can always replace that seat cushion with another one at Walmart if necessary...

I'm wondering...do they have obedience classes for Cats and Cat Moms like they do for dogs?
LOL.

Well, that's all I've got for this morning. Gotta get a move on since our Doctor appointment is at 8:30.
If there's anything else exciting I will let you know later.

And yes, we did get a nice rain the other night...almost an inch...but our pond is SO dry that it just soaked it up like a sponge and there is still no real sign of water on top of the pond. It will take a LOT more rain to bring it back to where it was.  But spring is coming, and hopefully the rains will come with it.

Psalm 136:1-9

1 Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.
2 Oh, give thanks to the God of gods!
For His mercy endures forever.
3 Oh, give thanks to the Lord of lords!
For His mercy endures forever:
4 To Him who alone does great wonders,
For His mercy endures forever;
5 To Him who by wisdom made the heavens,
For His mercy endures forever;
6 To Him who laid out the earth above the waters,
For His mercy endures forever;
7 To Him who made great lights,
For His mercy endures forever—
8 The sun to rule by day,
For His mercy endures forever;
9 The moon and stars to rule by night,
For His mercy endures forever.
Amen!

P.S.  We just went for our 8:30 appointment at the doctor's office, only to find out that it had been "cancelled"...they say WE cancelled it...which is totally NOT true!  They couldn't work us in today, but that's okay, because the Doctor we wanted to see isn't there today anyway. So we now have an appointment tomorrow at 2:30 with the doctor we want to see...so perhaps all things are working together for our good after all.  (Romans 8:28).

One more thing...last week we were also given one of those special new "Labcorp ColoFIT Home collection Kits",  excuse the delicate subject matter. In the kit there is a piece of "biodegradable and flushable" "collection papers.  It says it will not harm septic systems. DO NOT BELIEVE IT!!  Ever since flushing this piece of paper we have had some major issues with our toilets and septic system. Someone is coming today to try and figure it out, after we have not been able to "snake it out".  We don't believe our septic system could be full as it hasn't been that long since it was emptied, and there are just the two of us living here.  Anyway, long story short...while everything else is "coming up roses", this particular situation is NOT...far from being anything like "roses". LOL.  Sorry if this was TMI.  Just another day in the life...I know some others have been going through some similar issues lately, and I have learned from others' experiences to just try to make the best of it and pretend we are "camping".

Okay...hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV

6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication,
with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding,
will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Amen!

  2. Praising God with you for this wonderful news!
    Blackie is making me laugh. He's a typical cat. They always go where they aren't supposed to and never follow the rules. :)

  3. I FEEL YOUR PAIN~ I was camping for 24 hours and not anything I would wish on my worst enemy. Great news from the scan and glad you get to see the doctor you want to see, last time I went, had to see PA not Doc and she is great but not the same. thanks for the update and glad you at least got some rain...

  4. about The Chair Problem, do you have a spare room you could put them in and keep the door closed? or drape something over the entire chair as a last resort

  5. That's wonderful news about the PET scan results!!! Thanks for letting us know in such a timely manner, Pamela. Hope everything turns out fine with the septic issues, too. What a pain! And sorry - no obedience schools for cats or cat owners. Blackie will continue to be Blackie, so I'd simply cover the chair or hide it from him. Blessings!

  6. PTL on the results of the PET scan. God is so good. Hope your new dr. appt. will bring good results too.
    "King" Blackie really does think he's the King of your roost. Gotta set limits- haha!
    Oh no on the septic tank issue. Sure hope its not a repeat of Linda's issues.
    Prayers for your next few days.

    Look at King Blackie!

  8. Congratulations on that clean PET scan!!! Don't you love the MyChart app?
    I wonder if you could find one of those whoopie cushions to put on your sweet chair. One 'whoop' and I venture Blackie won't want anything more to do with it.
    Good to know about 'septic safe' claims. We don't trust anything but good old Charmin.

  9. You had good results and your husband - but he had the good PET scan - right? I am happy that both came out great. And your cat is going to set wherever you don't want him - they are like kids! lol

  11. Blackie is just a cat. That chair looks like a great place for your purse to live!! LOL I just love that Blackie has moved in so well, and that you both love him so much!! Praise God for the excellent report from the PET scan! Amen!! Hopefully your doctor appointments tomorrow will go just as well. Sending love and a big hug!!

    1. Thank you, Terri. Blackie is definitely just being a cat. I think we still have some things to learn about what that means. We do enjoy him and love him, but we're not quite ready to let him totally take over inside! Thankfully it's nice enough now for him to stay outside most of the time, except for mealtimes. He comes in to eat and then we let him stay a while and explore and cuddle, but once we have to get ready to go places, he has to go back outside. I don't trust him enough to 'behave' alone in the house just yet. We are heading to our appointments here in a little while, and hopefully all the blood work will be good. We finally have plumbing again, which is nice. Nothing like roughing it for a few days without toilets and showers to make one appreciate civilization. LOL.

  12. I'm glad all medical concerns have been ruled out and all is well. All PRAISES go to God.
    I'm with Teri and it just tickles me pink, that Blackie is really a part of your family. It's good for our health to have cats (and dogs) They lower our blood pressure and calm us down. Plus when mine know I am not being myself, they come and comfort me. Lay beside me, lick me, and snuggle. It's wonderful to care and dote on these animals. I honestly cannot imagine life without a animal to love on. Glad you got some rain.

    1. Blackie is definitely a part of the family, but I can't honestly say that he has lowered our blood pressure or calmed us down just yet...he's still a bit of a "wild cat" and has a very determined attitude about where he wants to go and what he wants to do. I'm still not quite ready to let him take over every part of our house or leave him inside alone while we are gone or sleeping. His explorations could lead him into disaster! (for both of us! LOL). Plus he still likes to be outside most of the day and night since it has warmed up. He enjoys chasing lizards and watching the birds and climbing trees and exploring the woods around us. But we do enjoy having him inside for a little while at his meal times and little by little he is becoming more acclimated to life indoors. Someday he may be inside full time, but probably not anytime real soon.

  13. Hi Pamela, I am glad the test results came back good. I hope your blood test some back okay too! We are getting a lot of rain this week and we sure need it. I hope you get some too. Where have the cranes been? Blackie is now a house cat!

    1. Thank you, Susan. Re: the cranes: They still appear to be coming here to our pond to roost at night, but they go around to other side of the little island where I can't see them from our house, so I don't know if they have built a nest or not. This is the time they should be doing it. I guess I will have to wait and see if they present us with some new "colts" in a few weeks or so. We still haven't gotten any more rain. Things are VERY dry here and the fire danger is very high. We PRAY for rain every day!

  14. Praise the Lord and Hallelujah! I'm so glad you had good news for John's tests. My CT scan is tomorrow at 12:40. I'm fairly certain all will be fine but it will be good to have it over and done with and then I should be finished with doctor appointments until my physical this fall and the THIRD colonoscopy in August. At least I should have most of the summer off. :-)
    Blackie is so much at home and is very well loved. He knows it too. Cat's are normally pretty independent. I've never heard of obedience training for Cats but that doesn't mean that someone doesn't offer them.
    I'll be praying for you tomorrow too, for your rescheduled doctor appointment. God is in control and loves both of you very much. That is so obvious.
    Blessings and love,
    Betsy

    1. Praying for you as you have your CT scan...is that today at 12:40, or tomorrow (Thursday)? Either way, I will be praying for you...and a 3rd colonoscopy in one year? No way! Yikes! Praying it will be clear this time (in August).

    1. I think they finally have the septic issues fixed. I know it will feel good to take a shower again...and I am happy not to be having to use a bag for collecting you know what. LOL. Sure makes one appreciate having good plumbing when you have to do without it for a few days!

  17. Hello Friend,
    I am so happy to read the good news.
    I am laughing about your comments about Blackie. I have to tell you, when I was little, I grew up on a dairy farm. My sister and I held 'cat school' we would gather up all the kittens and teach them to stay away from the tractors, cows and such. ;-)
    Have a great day!

  18. Do Robins come as far south as Ocala? I don't think I've ever seen one here. We had them all the time in Colorado, of course. I was interested to read what that big weekend rain did to Still Waters Pond. Thanks for the update about that. I guess it will, indeed, take much more rain to fill up your lake to what it usually is.

    I'm so glad the medical tests are coming out well.

    Maybe a doll should sit on that one chair that Blackie favors? Would that make any difference?

    1. We get Robins here every year, usually 2 times...on their way down in winter, and on their way back up in the spring. Some apparently straggle behind like these, who don't seem to know which way to go! LOL. Re: the chair. I guess I could try putting a doll on that chair...I've noticed Blackie doesn't seem to be very interested in my dolls. However, I don't really want to give him the opportunity to get too close to them either, just in case he thinks they are something to "scratch". LOL. For now it seems to be working to put my purse on that chair and he hasn't tried to squeeze up there with it yet. He definitely has a bit of a "what's yours is mine now" kind of attitude...LOL.

  22. Praise the Lord on the PET scan results. I can only imagine just how happy you were to get the. news. I hope your meeting with the doctor tomorrow puts any other issue at rest. As for Blackie and the chair, I've read that you could put tin foil on the chair or spray with citrus scent and that will deter the cat. I know one solution doesn't always work for another but maybe you can find some cloth to put over the chair if Blackie insists on sitting there. It will help protect the embroidery. You can also cut Blackie's nails or get it done. I used to clip my cats nails after I got used to having her. She didn't like it much but I learned how to hold her down to prevent her thrashing and I also made sure not to cut too much of the nail so I didn't cut into the sensitive part. I hope you find a workable solution.

  23. Pam, I'm reading backwards to catch up, and I am very glad to read this good news regarding your husband's PET scan. I understand the worry about metastasis, and I know first hand how good it feels to have that worry relieved. I'm so happy for both of you.
