Friday Foto Friends -Miscellaneous Stuff from my week

Do you see anything unusual in this picture?

How about this one?

Do you know what this is?  It is an "inch worm" that was attached to the elastic strap that holds my wildlife camera to the tree trunk outside!  I did not notice it until I was taking the camera back outside after bringing it inside to check for pictures.  There weren't any pictures INSIDE the camera half as interesting as this little fella who hitchhiked on the strap inside the house and back out to the tree again!!! He sure blends in with the bark on the tree!

Now this is what I call beautiful: This huge swallowtail butterfly just fluttered right past me and landed on this bush and sat and waited for me to take its picture!  I said, Thank you!!

If you follow me on Facebook, you may have already seen this beautiful green bug on the wild daisy one morning this past week...

Actually, I saw him two mornings in a row, on two different flowers. (that's assuming it's the same bug...might be a different one, but it was in the same location...) Isn't he magnificent? I mean, for a bug, that is...

And then this rosebud warranted two pictures and scripture verses because it was so gorgeous... (see the other at the end of this post)

Okay, all you Sand Hill Crane family fans...one evening on my usual walk to the neighborhood pond I stood on the little dock and searched all around for the crane family. Suddenly, from across the pond I saw these two cranes flying up and over the pond to the other side....So I just started snapping the pictures, not sure if it was going to capture them or not... can you see them? There's two flying together:

And then immediately following the first two came these other two...not sure which ones are the parents and which are the babies anymore as they are all pretty much the same size! Anyway, they all landed safely on the other side and started pecking away for their supper on the neighbor's lawn...(they eat grubs, frogs, bugs, anything they can poke around for and come up with that is tasty)...

Then I looked back over to the other side of the pond and noticed this lone deer standing there watching...

We don't usually see them alone, so it was a surprise to see her there by herself. I watched to see if others would join her, but none appeared, so I headed back home.

Now, shifting gears a bit, (ahem...) we went to "Ollie's" the other day...do you have "Ollie's" stores near you? It is kind of new to our area...one of those "bargain outlet" stores where they have "Good Stuff Cheap"...but I kind of doubt this antique Thunderbird qualifies for "good stuff cheap"...

If it did, I'd be wanting one too! LOL

Next door to Ollie's is a new "Roses" store, another bargain department store that just opened up in the former JC Penney's store of the old mall that is practically empty except for these new stores... and somehow, this skirt just called out to me from across a crowded store... must be the "gypsy" or preferably the "shabby chic" in me...what do you think?  My hubby actually talked me into buying it. (It was under $10.00) I decided that if I don't feel comfortable wearing it in public I could always use it for a tablecloth!  LOL.  (I still wish the JC Penney's store was there...that made me sad when it closed).

Okay, that's all for this week (unless some other photo "develops" in the next few hours before this blog is actually posted for Friday morning)

I hope you will traipse on over to Deb's place at Breathing in Grace and see what the other Friday Foto Friends have discovered this week...

Until next time, have a blessed and beautiful week....

  1. I always know when I come to your blog there will be uplifting bible verses and quiet lessons. :)

    I like the skirt!

I wonder why the deer is alone.

You live in a wildlife wonderland!

There is probably a Message in the caterpiller that could not be seen by the camera, but was way better than anything visible to the lens. Hmm...a quiet blog (yours) is better than what the world is screaming?

    :-)

Have a great day, Pamela. You are blessed and you are a blessing!

  2. Lovely photos. I enjoyed seeing the Cranes again. Nice neighbors to have.
Is the green bug a green Japanese beetle? I remember bottling them up for my Aunt as a kid cuz they destroy roses. We would hunt them down and relocate them or maybe she got rid of them I don't know.
I like how Miss Butterfly posed for her close up!
We don't have Ollies or Roses. What is interesting is the closing up higher end stores and the opening of cheaper outlets all over the country. It shows the decline going on and it is kind of sad. Even Macy's is doing poorly lately. Amazon is killing the retail stores, big and little.

I posted a photo for you on the end of my Foto post to show where those houses you asked about are.

    1. Thank you, Annie. Re: the Beetle< I do not think it is a Japanese beetle. They look much different. But it is some kind of a beetle. I just can't identify it yet. If anyone else knows, please let me know. I am sad that these "cheaper outlets" are taking over...everything is pretty much "made in China", although my skirt wasn't...I think it was made in India...anyway I do miss our JC Penney store, as that was the only decent store near us. (25 miles). There is another one about 35 miles the other direction, but through a lot of traffic, which I avoid...I can order from them online, but I love to wander through and see and touch things...I will go check out what you posted on your blog for me now...Thank you!! :)

  3. I love, love your pics today and the scriptures. The butterflies!!!!!! Do you know what that green bug is? The other day while we were eating, Jack said, "there is a green bug under the table." It was exactly like that and I picked him up (or tried to several times, but his feet were tickling my hand. I finally got him outside. We also saw a deer behind our fence which I need to tell about.

    1. Oh yes, I've only ever seen an inchworm in a book.

    2. I have not been able to identify the bug yet...I am searching. Here in Florida we have a plethora of many different kinds of bugs...I just thought it interesting that this one showed up two days in a row in the same area... Oh, you must tell about the deer! Wish you had a picture! And the only inch worm I had ever seen before this one was green. This guy was camouflaged to live on the tree!! Smart!!

  4. He's interesting, but I sure wouldn't call that inch worm cute cute in those up-close photos. They are when their not magnified. LOL We don't have anything like that green bug here. He is pretty (for a bug).

    1. Thank you, Stacy! I need to look up that inch worm...I've never seen one like him before...but maybe because he is camouflaged I've just never noticed! I can't identify the bug either...guess I need an entomologist to chime in! LOL. Have a great day!! Thanks for stopping by.

    1. Thank you, Cathy. I will have to wear it and model the whole outfit one of these days. And yes, I love our deer. I am hoping that one of them has had a baby that will make an appearance one of these days...I keep watching.

  6. Thumbs up on all your pictures!

I like the skirt, and my goodness, the price was right!!! It's great for a summer skirt, with that very shirt. It's a keeper!

    1. Thank you, Barbara! I trust your taste and style...so you may see me wearing this sometime this summer!! Yes, the top was also a "bargain"...closest color I could decide on that would go with it. So now that I have some positive feedback, I may have to model the whole outfit one of these days...Thanks! yes...At Rose's skirt 7.99, top 2.99...I'd say that was a deal!! Better than a thrift store find! :)

  7. Pam: We have both an "Ollie's" and a "Rose's" here. I have shopped at both. When we redid out enclosed front porch, we went to Ollie's to purchase the carpeting. We also purchased carpeting and pad for our back bedroom there. Hubby won't let me go there too often because of the book section. He knows, I could go crazy looking at them. :)

    1. I know what you mean about the books...I spent quite a while there too....they do have a great selection of inspirational books! We bought our generator there last year just in time for the hurricane...and we got a tremendous deal on it. So thankful we did...we really needed it. God provided it at a great price so we could afford it. It was a bit of a miracle actually.

  8. I want that skirt, too, Pamela - how bright and festive, perfect for the summer! And as always, your nature photos are so captivating and beautiful. Seeing them is so refreshing and relaxing for me.
    Have a blessed weekend!

    1. Thank you, Martha. You have encouraged me to be free and enjoy that skirt...I am a very conservative dresser, and I am very self conscious about drawing attention to myself with clothes...so to wear this will take courage. But I love the look and the comfort of it...and the fact that hubby liked it really sold me on it...so we shall see... Glad you enjoyed God's amazing creation photos...they relax me too. Hope your weekend is filled with blessing.

    1. Thank you, Doris! Yes, I felt blessed when that butterfly "posed" for its picture...it was a gift from God for that moment. I'm glad you like the skirt...I'll have to wear it when we see each other again!!! Which I hope will be sooner than later!!!(but not this week! we'll be gone!) Love ya, Sis!

I'm glad you like my skirt...they probably do make them in smaller sizes, which is what I think you need. But, do you have a "Roses" store near you? That is where I got it. great bargain...$7.99!!!!! The material alone would cost more than that! Have a blessed and beautiful day. Praying for you...

  14. So many beautiful photos Pamela. My favorites are the swallowtail butterfly and the T-bird. The oldie is still a good looking car. I love the color. I think the skirt is great especially for this time of year. Sorry to say I don't like any creepy crawlies. LOL! Have a blessed evening my friend.

    1. Thank you, Toni. I'm happy you stopped in for a visit. Yes, that T-Bird is one of my favorite classic autos...they just don't make them like they used to...and that is my favorite color of that particular car as well. I'm glad you like my skirt...one of these days I hope to have the courage to wear it in public! :) Sorry about the worm!

  15. I love your little hitch-hiker! The pond seems like a terrific place for photos. I take a lot of 'just in case' shots: just in case I got something that turned out good!!

    1. Thank you, Betty. Yes...the pond is a great place to watch for God's beauty to appear...and it certainly did on this day. Yes...I was snapping and hoping something would be visible and not blurred. I was so happy to see that I was able to capture both sets of birds flying...that was a wonderful moment...one of those God winks. Have a blessed day!!
