Friday Foto Friends - Some Friendly Thoughts

I saw this picture on Facebook and couldn't resist...
It made me think about my wonderful blogging friends as well as some of my local "face to face" friends and family...

It seems to embody all the things we tend to have in common...love of a good cup of tea (or coffee for those of you who must! LOL), a stack full of good books that we can't seem to get enough of...some bon-bons and cupcakes, pretty flowers, and a spirit of adventure!!  Who among us wouldn't just love to do exactly this...remember when we played house and had tea parties as little girls?  My sister and I did...we had a special table-cloth that fit over a card-table that had a picture of a house painted on it...windows, a door, the roof, and we could sit under the table and play with our dollies and have tea parties and "pretend" we were grown up mommies.

(Something similar to this idea below found on the internet:)Related image

Last weekend my sister and I celebrated her birthday with a little tea party.  We didn't have to crawl under the table to have our party (thank goodness! We'd probably still be stuck there!)..and now we are both grown up mommies for real!  (I know some of you who are my Facebook friends may have already seen some of these pictures, so bear with me)

We used the cute little teapot with a birdie on the lid that my sister had given me one year for my birthday or Christmas, I forget which...

And we used the Haviland China Tea Cups that came from our Grandma Tedlie, via our mother when she passed.  My sister and I shared the collection so that we each have some of the same...

Then we took our tea party out to the front porch because it was such a lovely day:

and sat and rocked like two little old ladies and listened to the birdies and talked about things we enjoy...flowers, birds, and our families...

Kind of like this old painting which belonged to our grandmother...I believe this picture is entitled "The Gossips",   but we weren't gossiping...just visiting, which is entirely altogether different!

I count you all as my special friends, whether we have met in person or not. I look forward to this gathering each week...love to hear about your life and what you've been doing and the things you have seen. It truly is like visiting with dear friends, and I do thank God for each and every one of you.

  2. Thank you, Sylvia. It's funny to us that people think that, because we don't think we look alike at all. But we do a lot of the same things the same way. Have a happy and beautiful day!!

  3. And even though we've never met in person, Pamela, I, too, count you as one of my precious friends. Happy Birthday to your lovely sister! Ya'll both look so young.
    Blessings!

    1. Oh thank you Martha, for the "ya'll both look so young" comment. You are so sweet. We are as young as we feel...or something like that. And yes, I do count you as a very dear friend. It is difficult for me to believe that we really have never met in person...I feel like I know you and I know I'd love to meet you for real.

    1. You may bring your coffee Toni...my sister actually loves her Starbucks. I've just never acquired the taste for it. She takes after our mother, and I take after our father. Sisters are really special...and so are our sisters in Christ...which you are. Thank you for your beautiful outlook on life.

  5. Pam: I enjoy your blog and your pictures so much. We had a family friend whose mother was elderly. When the mother passed, our friend and her husband discovered a set of Haviland china. It was a treat to use it on her table. Her mother thought it wasn't worth anything. Blessings to you and yours.

Our plans got changed due to the weather forecasts. Don't know when we are leaving on our trip.

    1. Oh, what a discovery...the Haviland China! My mother cherished it because it came from her mama, and my sister and I cherish it because our mother cherished it because our grandma cherished it. It is such fun to have our tea parties on something that came from such precious hands... I hope you get to get away soon! Praying the weather cooperates! Are you heading south? If you are coming to Florida you must let me know!

  6. Let's be serious for a moment - as I usually am!!! Why shouldn't grown-ups have a tea party under the table? With the table cloth pulled down so it forms a sort of tent or hut? It's great fun. Whenever I hide under the table the dog barks at me as if playing hide and seek and he found me.

When I was a child we had a painting at home which said: "True Happiness consists not in the multitude of friends. But in their worth and choice."

    God bless.

    1. Ha ha Victor,, I imagine the dog would bark at you under the table...such a funny place to find you. I think we should let our inner child escape every now and then, don't you? Oh, what a nice saying about "True Happiness and friends..."Very true. Thank you for coming along for our play day.

  7. It so nice that you have a sister to share things with, I only had brothers. The china is beautiful and the two of you looked so happy sharing a cup of tea together. I like that cartoon too, I shared it with my GLOW sisters, like you, if I ever got under the table I doubt I could get out. lol Happy Birthday to you sister!!

    1. I am blessed to have a dear sister...but you do have daughters, and granddaughters, so that should be a good substitute. I never had daughters, but I am learning to appreciate having a daughter in law nearby, and am teaching her to enjoy these things as well. Thank you for being a sister in Christ. Let me know when you are coming and I will put the kettle on and get out the tea things...and we can sit at the table, not under it...LOL

  8. Pamela, this beautiful post brought tears to my eyes as I enjoyed you and your sister enjoying this precious time together. We also took blankets and made tents under the table and sometimes we clothes pinned a quilt to the fence outside and did the same. Wonderful memories. I love when the grandkids come over and want to build a fort with the blankets and play under it. You and your sister are so pretty!! Love the teacups. I wish our blogging friends lived closer to each other.

    1. Oh, it sounds like you had the kind of childhood that I enjoyed. It was so much fun to play outside and make tents and forts and just pretend...I love to see kids do that today...but do they? I am happy to hear that your grandkids do. Too many children today don't know how to do these things, and they are really missing out on a precious part of childhood.

  9. First of all, Happy Birthday to your sister. Love the teapot and the china, but I especially love the little angels in with the china. Are they Willowtree?

You and your sister look so happy and oh that front porch looks like a wonderful place to be.

Hope you have a great weekend.

    1. Thank you, Cathy, for visiting here today. Yes, the angels are Willowtree. I love them and have several as you can see. Each one has a special significance to me. My sister probably gave me several of them as have other dear friends. We did have a wonderful time on the porch and in the house as well. We like to take advantage of any opportunity to have a little tea party or "play time". Just two little girls in old ladies' bodies! Have a blessed and wonderful day.

  10. It was fun sharing the tea party with you both. My sister and I were not close as she was old enough to be my mother and did not ever live with us at home when I was growing up so I don't relate to having a sister really.
Its great that your family is close by and visit.
You and your sister look almost like twins!
I consider you a friend and talk about fellow bloggers to my family as my friend Pamela, my friend Toni, etc.
I like that Haviland china! So pretty.
The crane babies are so cute with those long legs! How dear they are.
I hope you have a lovely day today and a good weekend too.

    1. I'm so glad you came along for the tea party, Annie. I would truly love to have you here for real. You can be one of our sisters and we could have such fun. Many people think my sister and I look like twins, but if you had seen us growing up you wouldn't think so. She was petite and brunette, and I was tall and red-headed and freckled. Somehow we've grown into each other's looks as we've aged...I call her my "little Big sister", and she calls me her "big little sister". LOL. I hope you are having a blessed and beautiful day/weekend. Praying you are feeling better and getting stronger every day. Would love to sit and visit with you for real someday.

This is so true, so encouraging. Friends on a screen, but friends nonetheless! :)

Hope you have a great day, Pamela.

I am taking my 11 year old for a check-up at the doctor and then swinging by Aldi to get one of their pizzas. We have not tried it before...fingers crossed. I have been writing some and hope to watch a Star Trek tonight. Spock's Brain. Yes, really! :)

    1. Yes, we do "comfort and edify" each other here, don't we? I know I am so often blessed by your comments as well as your blog posts...and it makes me wish I could just reach out and give you a hug!!! I hope the Aldi Pizza is yummy, and that your 11 yr. old is okay, and enjoy your Trekkie night. Such fun. My hubby watches the old reruns frequently...sometimes way too often...but they are definitely unique. Enjoy your weekend and be blessed.

  15. Beautiful post, Pamela. You are your sister look so much alike that I thought your were twins. But as I read further I saw that you were celebrating HER birthday, and not yours. (smile) How happy it must be for the two of you to live close enough together to have afternoon visits like this.

    1. Thank you, Barbara. My sister and I are several years apart, and growing up we didn't look much alike at all. We've just sort of melded into one as we've aged somehow...LOL. We are blessed to have each other. She does live a couple of hours away, but we try to get together often for birthdays and holidays. It means a lot to us to keep the family traditions going!

    1. Thank you "Joyful"...and welcome to Florida! Yes, we are enjoying some beautiful spring weather right now. Some days it almost feels like summer...but I'd prefer it to stay spring a little longer! My sister and I love to enjoy the outdoors as much as possible. She lives about 2 hours away, so we don't see each other real often, but usually for most birthdays and holidays. We are thankful to have each other! Blessings to you today...your spring will be there soon!

    1. I just saw this message, Aritha, Thank you for visiting here with us in our little tea party...I love the quote at the end..."we listen and don't judge". That is a good thought to remember...I fear we are not always mindful of that and want to put our two cents worth in, which could be the same as judging...and sometimes we just need to LISTEN. Thank you. have a blessed day!
