Friday Foto Friends - Morning Walk in the Sunlight

Perhaps I should change the title to "Morning Walk in the SONLight!"  Because that is what it felt like to me.  Walking in the morning light of God's SON:

"Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound!
They walk, O Lord, in the light of Your countenance.
In Your name they rejoice all day long,
and in Your righteousness they are exalted.
For You are the glory of their strength..."
Psalm 89:15-17

"All things were made through Him,
and without Him nothing was made that was made.
In Him was life, and the life was the LIGHT of men.
And the LIGHT shines in the darkness,
and the darkness did not comprehend it."
John 1:3-5

As I took my quick little "walkabout" the neighborhood early this morning, I couldn't help but notice how lovely the sunlight was filtering through the trees and filling the morning with God's glory. These pictures are from around the neighborhood, and ending up in the Secret Garden:

Everything was calm and peaceful in the Secret Garden. I wanted to linger there a while and just drink in the beauty of God's Presence.

You may not appreciate the "beauty" of spider webs, but how can you not appreciate the intricate design of these amazing webs...kind of like "dinner platters" stretched out, waiting to be served!

"The eyes of all look expectantly to You,
and You give them their food in due season.
You open Your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing."
Psalm 145:15-16
Even the ones that look a little bit like an alien!

I discovered these little "Brown-eyed Susans" smiling up at the SONlight this morning...right in my own backyard.  I was astonished to find them there because I had planted wildflower seeds in that very spot last year, and none ever came up or bloomed...and now here they are, smiling at me and rejoicing in the SONLight!
I guess it helps that we haven't mowed this section of the yard in a while because we've been getting so much rain.
The only down side of this particular moment was that I got a tiny little tick on my leg and had to go inside and remove it as quickly as possible! Note to self: Always remember to put insect repellent on your bare legs before walking in the weeds!!!  As a fun note: This verse in Psalm 145 might be appropriate here:

20.  "The Lord preserves all who love Him,
but all the wicked He will destroy."
(especially ticks!)

But more seriously and joyously:

Psalm 145:21
"My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord,
and all flesh shall bless His holy Name
forever and ever."
Amen

I hope your Friday is a beautiful day, walking in the "SONlight" of the Lord.

  3. Pam: Can you tell us about the house in the pictures? I notice a porch-like area that leads to what looks like a hill. Does anyone live there? I see a window AC unit in the window of the A-frame section. I enjoyed your pics of the Yellow Susans. Enjoy your weekend. And peace be with you and yours.

    1. That is a little A-frame vacation cottage that is in dire need of someone to love it. The owner has had a sad time this past year...first her son died very unexpectedly and then her husband died a few months later. She wants to sell this, but hasn't had time or energy to come and do anything with it. She needs our prayers....and I do pray for her every time I walk by there. There is a small pond/lake on the other side of that little house, but the water is very low there right now, so not much to see. However, the deer and sand hill cranes love it there. I hope your weekend is filled with joy and blessing as well.

  4. Pam, I love how you capture the beauty of God's creation where you live. Spider webs are interesting, beautiful, STICKY, and STRONG--not so fun to clean up/off but they do seem to have something to teach us. Several years ago (maybe in the 90s) Iowa began planting wildflowers (a.k.a. weeds) along the side of primary highways. They are beautiful and interesting--they are also hard to truly enjoy while driving.

    Have a blessed weekend!

    1. I was happy that the sun was shining through the webs this morning so that I didn't walk into them! You are right in that they are very sticky and strong! Amazing creations designed by our Creator! We also have wildflowers in many places along the roads. I enjoy looking at them and wanted to grow them in my yard, hence the seeds that I planted last year, but this is all that came up-THIS year! Have a blessed weekend too!!

    1. Thank you, Annie...there is so much beauty around to capture...no matter where we live. We just need to have eyes to see it and a heart to appreciate it. I know you do!! Thank you again.

  6. Pam, the photos are so pretty, even the spider's web, which I do find fascinating at the design and their strength. I haven't seen any ticks this year and I'm so glad. Last year my little dog kept bringing in huge ticks. Is that a house on your property or one you saw when walking? Does someone live there? It's quite unusual.

    1. Thank you, Nonnie. That little A-Frame is a vacation cottage that needs some love. The owner has had a difficult time. Her son died, and then her husband died a few months later. She hasn't been able to come and tend to it and would like to sell it. It is in sad shape. It is facing a small lake...one of the places where I see the deer quite often. It could be so cute if someone wanted to show it some love.

  7. Is that Spanish moss or Kudzu? The drapping vines, I mean. I think of them as a Southern thing, but pretty sure they come from somewhere else. i love them!

""My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord,
and all flesh shall bless His holy Name"

    Amen!

    1. That is Spanish Moss...which is quite native here in Florida. It is lovely in the trees like that, but I really don't like it in my trees. It is a kind of parasite, but not really. Here is the definition if you want to look it up. http://solutionsforyourlife.ufl.edu/hot_topics/environment/spanish_moss.shtml Kudzu is definitely a very invasive vine that originated in SE Asia. We don't have it here in this part of Florida, thank the Lord. But our wild grape vines are almost as bad. But at least I can make jelly from their grapes! LOL. Thank you for stopping by. I loved your post today.

  8. I loved all of your beautiful pictures with the light filtering through and around things. The spider webs are gorgeous. I love them. It seems every morning there are some around our porch and I stand and admire them a while before I use the broom to swipe them down. The verses of Scripture that you have used are so appropriate with the pictures...and I especially liked Psalm 145:20. :) xx

    1. Ha Ha ! I am glad you caught that verse 20! I thought that was clever! Thankfully, the spider webs that I saw today were all in places that I wouldn't have walked through anyway, but I am so glad I saw them before I did venture that direction! Since they were out of the way, I left them to do their jobs! Thanks for joining me! Wish you really could!!

    1. Oh yes!!And I used Dawn detergent to smother him, then a little alcohol, and he just had to back right out and come off!! Where we live we have a constant battle to avoid these critters. But they are really fast and I have to be very diligent. Thank you for stopping by for a visit. I hope your luncheon was grand. I can't wait to hear about it!

    1. Thank you, Ariella. Do pray for the lady who owns that little house. It is a vacation house, but it is in very bad repair. The woman's son died suddenly, and then her husband died a few months later. She just doesn't have the heart to come back here and work on it and would like to sell it. It is facing a small pond and could be a delightful little retreat if it was cleaned up. Thank you for your thoughts today. May your day be filled with joy and blessing.
