The Secret Garden Chronicles Day 17 Learning to TRUST

Well, today certainly didn't turn out the way I thought it was supposed to!  What should have been a simple trip into town to a regular doctor appointment for my husband, and then a plan to go visit his mother in the nursing home, turned out to be a long day spent in the emergency room of the hospital with my hubby, who was apparently having a TIA, or at least that is what they think.  All of his tests came back normal for other things...but he was actively having a problem.  As the day progressed he started to pull out of this little "spell", or whatever you might call it, and even though the hospital wanted to admit him for further tests, he/we decided to come home and follow up with another doctor.

As I followed the ambulance from the doctor's office to the hospital I just kept praying and singing.  The first song that came to my mind was "'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus."  I started out singing the chorus:

"Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him,
How I've proved Him o'er and o'er;
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
Oh, for grace to trust Him more."

As the Lord brought the words to some of the verses back to mind, I continued to sing as I drove and prayed and cried a little:

'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to take Him at His word,
Just to rest upon His promise,
Just to know,
"Thus saith the Lord."

(chorus)

"I'm so glad I learned to trust Thee,
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
And I know that Thou art with me,
Will be with me to the end."

(chorus)

"Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him,
How I've proved Him o'er and o'er;
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
Oh, for grace to trust Him more."

When my hubby was able to walk out of that hospital this evening and come home with me, I just had to praise the Lord for His goodness and kindness to us.  And then to arrive home and find that our sons had prepared a wonderful supper for us so that I didn't have to cook or lift a finger to do a thing...well, that was just about the sweetest gift of all.

No, we never did make it over to visit my mother in law today, but we know that she is in good hands where she is, and she has been doing so well there that it always seems like we are intruding on her important "schedule" when we do go...so we are comforted in knowing that we don't need to worry about her.  We will try to go in a few days when my hubby feels a little stronger.

And no, I never made it into the "Secret Garden" today again...but I can hear my Savior saying,

"Fear not, for I AM with you;
Be not dismayed, for I AM your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand."
Isaiah 41:10

When I did get home, I took a couple of minutes to walk around outside before it got dark, and took some pictures of my camellia bushes that are starting to really bloom right now...another sweet gift from the Lord at the end of a long, tiring day:

"For I, the Lord your God,
will hold your right hand,
Saying to you,
'Fear not, I will help you."
Isaiah 41:13

  7. Oh bless your heart! What a scary day for both you and your husband, but the Lord's hand was with you, and gave you a "song in the night". I'm so thankful your husband is back home with you, those TIAs are scary things, but hopefully he will have no more issues! Will join in prayer with you and believe that the Lord's hand of healing will be upon your husband in Jesus name! Hugs to you today!
