Friday Foto Friends: At The Beach

Good Morning Friends!  Here it is Friday again! And that means it's time for "Friday Foto Friends", so after you visit here, fly on over to my friend Deb's place at Breathing in Grace and see what others are sharing today.

This past week we had the joy of visiting with our grandson, who was here from Maine (click HERE for that story). One of the highlights of the week was our trip to the beach.  Along with watching our grandson swim in the 62 degree water, I mostly watched the birds along the shore.  Thought you might enjoy a little bird watching with me, so here goes:

"When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers...
The birds of the air,
and the fish of the sea
that pass through the paths of the seas..."
O Lord, Our Lord,
How excellent is Your name in all the earth!"
Psalm 8:3, 8-9
There certainly were a lot of birds congregating when we arrived

Here's the one lone Sandpiper working his way among the tiny little crabs down in the sand...

He has some competition it seems

Perhaps a LOT of competition...

Aren't these TERNS interesting?

Not sure what these are...anyone know?

More Terns, preening and admiring their reflection in the sand

This white heron seems a little tentative about going into this cold water

He tests the water with his toes...

He turns around and heads back to the sand with a look like, "Nope, not today...this water's too cold for me!"

This Plover doesn't seem to mind at all...

"They went thataway...No, they went thataway..."

The sky was cloudy and full of mystery...

I don't think I've ever seen a Black Pigeon before!!!

On closer look, he's really quite pretty and iridescent

"Gotta keep a movin'"

Ahoy There!

Now that's an interesting bird!

What do YOU see in these clouds???

"O Lord, our Lord,
How excellent is Your name in all the earth,
Who have set Your glory above the heavens!"
Psalm 8:1

And look at that bird!  No wait! It's a Navy Fighter Jet!  And I stand and salute you and say "Thank you!"

And that's all folks!!! Hope you enjoyed this little visit to the seashore!

"How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How great is the sum of them!
If I should count them,
they would be more in number than the sand;
When I awake, I am still with You."

Psalm 139:17-18

    1. It was a beautiful day to be there...the air was warm enough to sit and enjoy being on the shore...and it wasn't too crowded...and our grandson was very happy to enjoy the surf while us old folks watched the birds. Perfect day!

  2. Loved all the pictures. I don't believe I've ever seen a black pigeon either. Can pigeons be gorgeous, because I think he was gorgeous. We have a lot of sea gulls around here, we enjoy watching them when we go the park.

    1. I thought he was quite gorgeous too...I was surprised to see him there. There were a lot of seagulls too, mostly flying by and I couldn't get good pictures of them. All in all it was a perfect day. Thank you for visiting with me!

  3. Loved all the bird pics. Especially the "he went this way, no that way." Birds crack me up when they sit on the wires and all face the same direction, then scooting over to make room for new arrivals. I love watching them fly and listening to them sing. How nice to get to go to the beach.

    1. Glad you could stop by today! Yes, it was delightful at the beach! We haven't been in a long time, so it was a treat for us, as well as our grandson from Maine, where they do have beaches, but it is too cold to go! Yes, I love watching birds everywhere. They are some of God's most interesting creatures!

  4. What a lovely, lovely day at the beach! All the many variations of birds, so fun to watch them! 62 degrees? Ooh, that is cold, about how warm the water gets here in the dead of summer, lol! That could be the reason I don't swim much here, lol! But kids are a different breed, cold water doesn't seem to bother them! So glad you had such a special time at the beach! Enjoyed your pictures and funny comments!

Yes, it was such fun to watch the birds and enjoy the sights and sounds of the surf. God is good to show us His beauty in His creation in so many different places on the earth. Each has its own loveliness! Thank you and God bless you today with His warmth!

  6. Wonderful beach and bird photos Pamela. Wish I could be there. My daughter sends me many photos and videos she takes all the time living in Florida she would be a beachcomber if she had the chance. :)

    1. Sounds like you need to visit your daughter down here sometime and enjoy the beauty and warmth!! Yes, I thought about being a beachcomber when we were there the other day. But God has His beauty surrounding us wherever we are, if we just open our eyes and look and behold what He has done! Have a blessed day today Toni!

In that cloud I see a little flag, fallen over on its side as though the race has begun. Hmm...chills.

    1. Let me know when you do come down to the beach! We live about an hour away...and this is the first I've been in a few years! Shame on me!! I hope to correct that now that we have more "free time".

  9. Pam, the photos you captured are amazing. It's nice to see the ocean, even if only by photo. Like Debbie, I'm going to have to live vicariously through you to experience the ocean (and the beach).

    Blessings!
